Donna Marie (Frank) Yagey, IHS 1952 age 90, formerly of Utica and Whitesboro, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 13, 2024, with her family by her side, at Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Donna was born in Frankfort, NY, October 8, 1933, a daughter of the late George and Theresa (DiPiazza) Frank. She was raised and educated in Ilion, NY, where she graduated from Ilion High School. On April 21, 1956, Donna married Nicholas J. Yagey, former UPD Executive Deputy Chief. The couple shared in a union that spanned over sixty-four years prior to Mr. Yagey's passing on April 13, 2021. Donna is survived by her three sons, who adored their mother, Stephen M. and Rhonda Yagey, David N. and Mary Yagey, and Michael J. and Sharon Yagey; grandchildren, Matt and Caitlin Yagey, Scott and Kaitlyn Yagey; Justin Yagey, Elizabeth Yagey and George McCraken; and Joey Yagey; and the memory of her grandson, Anusha Chimtin-Yagey, who preceded her in 2013; great-grandchildren, Luca, Harper, Nolan, and Liam; a brother, George Frank; and also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, a brother-in-law, Nassar Joseph Yagey and his late wife, Jane Yagey; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Frank. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Frank. In keeping with Mrs. Yagey's wishes there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Donna's funeral service, Friday morning, September 20, 2024, at 9:00, at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger Street, Utica, where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Father Boutros El Hachem. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of mass. Kurt Hendrick, IHS 1971 - Only Kurt would retire on a Friday, then start hospice the following Monday. There's a bitter-sweetness in that timing, but it's also a testament to the man he was: hardworking, dedicated, and always willing to help others, right up until the end. But let's be honest, Kurt was also a troublemaker, a jokester, and as stubborn as they come—yet his kindness shone through it all. Kurt was married to Debbie for nearly 42 years, had 3 children (Eric, Erin and Anne) and proudly watched over 7 grandchildren (Nicholas, Braden, VanLuke, Kurt, Chloe, August and Abraham). His career took him through the trades, where he put in countless hours of work, but it was at St Bruno that he found his second home. His wife Debbie had long been connected to St Bruno, first as a student, then as staff and a church musician, and Kurt was initially known to many as "Debbie's husband." But over time, something happened: Debbie found herself being introduced as "Mr. Kurt's wife." It was a shift that made them both smile—proof that Kurt had left his mark not just as a worker, but as someone whose presence and character touched those around him. Kurt was born to George Hendrick and Bernie Winchip in Herkimer, New York, on February 10th, 1953. Growing up alongside his younger brothers Mark and Paul, they created countless memories that shaped his quick wit and sense of humor. The famous Hendrick stubbornness was, of course, present from the start—something that became a defining family trait. Later, Kurt welcomed three more brothers: Brett Winchip, Hans Hendrick and Ehrich Hendrick. Though Kurt eventually lived far from his family, the bond they shared remained strong, and they always made time for each other. Later on, his mother Bernie found love with Dick Balser, who quickly became a cherished member of the family, building a close relationship with Kurt and his brothers, and the grandkids, over the years. Kurt's life was a testament to the values he held dear: family, friendship, humor, hard work and perseverance. His legacy lives on through the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the strong bonds he formed with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Kurt was recently preceded in death by his grandson Kurt Sumner Hendrick. As we grieve his loss, may we find comfort in the belief that he and his grandson are now joyfully reunited in the peace and love of God's eternal presence. A celebration of Kurt's life will be held at St. Bruno Church (226 W Ottawa Ave, Dousman, WI 53118) on Saturday, September 21, 2024, visitation from 8:00am-10:00am with a service to follow. Kurt will be buried at St. Bruno Cemetery following the service. (September 19, 2024)
Ms. Cheryl Irene Waldo, IHS 1969 age 73, of Herkimer, and formerly of Ilion, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024 in the Abraham House in Rome, surrounded by the love of her family. Cheryl was born on March 3, 1951 in Utica, a daughter of the late Richard and Marjorie Miller Waldo. She grew up in Ilion, where she attended and graduated from local schools. Cheryl spent her earlier years working as an Office Manager for Coca-Cola in Utica, where she was known for her dedication and hard work. She then found her interest working for the Foot Doctors in Utica and the Mohawk Valley, where she continued to make special friends and relationships during her years there. Spending many years attending the Methodist Church in Ilion, Cheryl found herself volunteering at the Cornerstone Thrift Store for a number of years after her retirement. There she continued to develop special relationships, including her sister-in-law Ann Montalone, and making numerous friends through her generous giving ways. Cheryl was of the Methodist and Presbyterian faith and became a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ilion in March of 2022. A proud accomplishment of hers was being ordained as a Ruling Elder at the church in early 2024 in addition to being a recent member of the Mohawk Valley Council of Churches. Cheryl took great comfort in the sense of community and peace that her church provided. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Hospice and the folks at the Abraham House in Rome NY for their gentle and compassionate care during the past month. Those folks are true angels of their own. Cheryl is survived by her brother Jerry, and his wife Barbara of Herkimer. She is also survived by her “little brother” Jon and his wife Sherron of Frankfort. Her extended family included a very special niece Stacey Waldo Hood, of which Cheryl was extremely proud of being her Godmother. She is also survived by her nephews Adam, Michael, Scott and Eric in addition to many great nieces and nephews. Cheryl leaves a multitude of dear friends that had shared a lifetime of memories throughout the years. She is predeceased by her parents, a brother Paul, a brother David and a nephew Kyle. A memorial service will be officiated by Reverend Betsy Jay, Pastor of the 1st Presbyterian Church, on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 3:00. The church is located at 90 Morgan St. in Ilion. The family will be available to meet friends ½ hour prior to the service at 2:30pm. A reception will immediately follow the service. Mrs. Donald B. Crim, IHS 1985 age 58, of Ilion, passed away on September 4, 2024 at the Wynn Hospital in Utica with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 9, 1966 in Ilion, a beloved son of Donna Laymon Crim and the late Donald B. Crim, Sr. He grew up in Ilion and attended Ilion schools, graduating with the Class of 1985. Don worked for many years as a plow driver with the New York State Thruway in Herkimer and previously at Remington Arms Co. in Ilion. He was an active member of the community, belonging to the Ilion Elks Lodge, where he was honored as Elk of the Year. He was also a proud member of the Ilion Marine Corps League and the Ilion American Legion. In his younger years, Don was an excellent athlete, and he remained an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time with friends at Pellettieri Joe’s on Tuesdays, savoring his favorite drinks—Miller Lite and Ginger Brandy—and attending "Sunday School" with his close friends. Don was known for his big heart, quick smile, and the loyal friendships he formed with everyone who knew him. Don is survived by his loving mother, Donna; one son, Daniel Crim and his wife, Lauren, of Ft. Drum; a daughter, Emily and her husband Matt Stickles of West Winfield; two brothers, Matthew Crim and his wife, Courtney of Ilion and Jeff Crim and his wife, Mandy, of Little Falls; three sisters, Nancy and Brian Deihl of Little Falls, Jennifer and her husband, Robert Doxtater of Cayuga, NY and Jackie and Thomas Gannon of Rome; 5 grandchildren, Kinleigh, Abel, Axel, and Kendall Crim and Beau Stickles, grandchildren who he loved dearly; Janet Crim, the mother of his children whom he loved dearly, and several special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Don, Sr. and a brother, David. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Ilion Elks Lodge, 8 West St. Ilion, NY 13357. Mrs. Corliss "Corky" J. (Masur ) Lulow, IHS 1964 age 77, of Ilion, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Katherine Lutheran Home in Clinton with her family by her side. Corky was born on October 19, 1946 to the late George Masur and Mattie Irene McKim Masur in Fresno, CA. Moving to Ilion, NY as a toddler with her parents, she remained a lifelong Ilion resident. She attended Ilion schools, graduating in 1964. She worked at several local businesses before retiring from Bank of America in 2008. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is predeceased by her first husband, Jerry Burgois, with whom she had two children, her son, Jeffrey (Michelle) Burgois and their children, Jeffrey Jr. and Nathan and her daughter, Jennifer Pedersen and her children, Alayna, Camden and Tia. She remarried in 1997 to Bernard Lulow who cherished their 27 years together. She is also survived by one brother and sister in law, Michael (Tracy) Masur of FL. She was predeceased by one brother, Stephen Masur. In the mid-1970's, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained a devoted, loving and faithful Christian for life. She actually shared her faith, wisdom and love with all who knew her. I Corinthians 16:14 "Let all you do be done in love" was a verse well suited to her life. She had a gifted voice, singing in local productions of South Pacific and several choirs. She loved to sing hymns at church and at home. Verses that provided encouragement and comfort these last few years were Isiah 26:3-4 "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord our God is an everlasting rock." Services are planned for September 28, 2024 at Emmanuel Bible Church in Mohawk, NY. Mrs. Joyce E. Sanchez, IHS Staff age 89, of Ilion, NY, entered into Eternal Life, on August 28, 2024, with her loving family by her side, following a brief illness. She was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, to Soren and Bertha Sorensen, on September 25, 1934. She graduated from Woodbridge High School, where she and her twin sister, Joan, served on the cheerleading squad. On September 8, 1956, she married Joseph Sanchez, the love of her life and they moved to Ilion, NY, where they raised their two daughters, Elissa and Pam. After spending many happy years as a loving mother and homemaker, Joyce worked as a teacher's aide at West Hill School, where she was also a Girl Scout Leader. She spent 14 more years working as a library clerk at the Ilion Free Public Library and retired in 1989. When her husband Joe passed away after 34 years of marriage, Joyce became very involved at the Church of the Annunciation, serving as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and a member of various committees. She was also a Commissioner on the Ilion Housing Authority for many years. She eventually started spending her winters in Vero Beach, Florida, with her dear friend, Bev Tutty and later moved to Florida year-round. Those years of retirement were full of fun activities and socializing with friends. The last year and a half of her life, Joyce and her daughter Elissa had the blessing of living close to each other in Rochester, NY, where they could visit daily. Joyce's priorities in life were her faith and her family. She was a daily communicant at the Church of the Annunciation and she had a deep love of the Lord and devotion to the Blessed Mother. She incessantly prayed the rosary for the intentions of her family. Her love, support and generosity to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no limits. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Joe; her parents; her sisters, Joan Mihalov and Virginia Barnes; and her nephew, Bruce Rymsha. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Elissa Sanchez-Speach and son-in-law, Dr. David Speach, of Pittsford, NY and her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and David Peoples, of Snow Camp, NC. Survivors also include her grandchildren: Dr. Gabrielle (Sherif) Girgis, Joseph (Dr. Mary Eve) Speach, Hannah Speach, Claire Speach and Joseph Peoples; her 3 great- grandchildren, Mary, Lucy and Peter Girgis; as well as her nephew and niece, Jack Rymsha and Amy Peterson. Joyce also leaves behind her dear friend, Beverlyan Tutty. The family would like to offer special thanks to the medical providers, nurses and staff, at the Friendly Home, for their excellent and compassionate care for Joyce in the last year of her life. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Annunciation, Ilion, New York, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will then take place alongside her husband, at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, New York. Mr. Harold A. 'Babe' Leon, IHS 1975 age 68, of West Main Street in Frankfort, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 25, 2024, in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born on December 17, 1955, Harold was the son of the late Harold and June (McNinny) Leon. He was raised in Ilion and graduated from Ilion High School. For many years, he was blessed to share in a marriage with the late Sandra S. Leon, who passed away on August 7, 2022. Harold also mourned the recent passing of his daughter, Kelly Lynn Tolbert. He is survived by his son-in-law and granddaughters, with whom he resided. In keeping with Babe's wishes, there will be no formal services. Elizabeth J. (Elmer) Hurteau, IHS 1961 - A lifelong Ilion resident, Mrs. Elizabeth J. (Elmer) Hurteau, age 81, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 20, 2024 at The Grand Nursing and Rehab, Ilion. Elizabeth was born in Ilion on May 25, 1943, daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Williams) Elmer. She received her education in Ilion schools. The Elmer family grew up on East Street in Ilion from hard working parents. She joined in marriage on April 16, 1966 in Ilion with Donald M. Hurteau. Mr. Hurteau passed away on June 23, 2013 at the family home in Ilion. Elizabeth was last employed in customer service with APAC, Utica and was at one time employed with General Electric, Utica. She was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include her children, Kevin Hurteau of Ilion, daughter, Theresa Sorenson of Alabama, a brother, Milton Glyn Elmer of Ilion, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her siblings, her twin brother Roger, Richard, Clayton, Phyllis, Ester and Gwendolyn. Her funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Daniel J. Donald L. Day, IHS Alumnus, age 82, of Ilion, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Mohawk Valley. He was born on August 25, 1941 in Ilion, a son of the late Stanley and Marion Johnson Day and he attended Ilion Schools. He was at one time employed with Aiello's Market in the meat department for 15 years. He was the caregiver to his mother Marion until her passing in 1985. He was active in the BPOE Elks #1444 for 53 years, rising to the level of Exalted Ruler in 1980-1981. He was also employed as Host/Bartender at the Ilion Elks Lodge for 37 years, retiring in February of 2022. He enjoyed working and participating in numerous club activities, including trips to ballgames, horse races, casino and other places of interest. He enjoyed the bantering back and forth with fellow brothers at the club and the special place set aside in his honor, called Don's Dugout. Don was one of 7 children, four sisters and two brothers; Darrell Day, Esther LeClair Arleta, Doneta Sporney, Sally Bogardis, William Day and Charles "Boots" Day and one very close brother-in-law, George Bogardis. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and his companion who was a great help to him, Chris Harper. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11am in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Little Falls. In keeping with Don's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Fred R. "Bull Whip" Griffin, IHS Alumnus, age 75, of London Towers, passed away, on August 7, 2024, at his residence, of natural causes. He was born on December 10, 1948, in Herkimer, New York, a son of the late Leon Griffin and Mae Miller Griffin Osborn and stepfather, Donald "Don" Osborn. He attended school in Richfield Springs and Ilion and worked at Remington Arms and then Ron Bunce Paving. He loved cats and dogs. He loved the animals, Genessee Beer and his friends at London Towers. He was blessed to have a devoted friend always at his side, Chris Morris. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Parese and her husband, Patrick "Butch", of East Herkimer; his grandchildren, Danielle Parese and her boyfriend, Bradley Stefanik, Lindsey Parese and her fiance, Ryan Fahy and Patrick Parese and his girlfriend, Ariele Bell; his sisters, Mary Moore, of Ilion and Vivian McGraw, of Ilion; and a half-sister, Debbie Osborn Clark and her husband, Jack, of Richfield Springs. He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Mae; his stepfather, Don; and his siblings, Patricia Brownell, Gloria Smaldone, Victoria Dineen, Dorothy Rowlands, Leon "Junior" Griffin, Edward Griffin, James Griffin Carr and Richard Griffin. James Robert Steacy, IHS 1976, of New Berlin, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on November 30, 1956, in Ilion, NY, to George and Marion Steacy. He was raised and educated locally and attended Ilion schools. Jim went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. He then married Dawn Duncan and together they raised 3 precious daughters. Jim will always be remembered for his humility, kindness, humor and sarcasm. His work ethic was profound until the day that he passed and his life experiences allowed him to gain knowledge in many areas of profession. "The very basic core of a man's living spirit was his passion for adventure" and Jim will always be known for his love of travel and new experiences. While the open road may have given him the ability to seek truth and freedom, we, his family, believe that his true freedom was found when he gave himself the gift of sobriety, 9 years ago. His bravery will never be forgotten and he will always be an inspiration to the significant number of lives that he touched. Above all else, it was his role as a father and grandfather that Jim cherished the most. With stories and memories, he loved nothing more than to share his pride in regards to his family. His legacy will live on in his 3 beautiful daughters, Tonya (Russell) Card, Sheila Steacy, Jayme Steacy and companion Jesse Goodspeed; and their mother, Dawn Covey; his grandchildren, Ashleigh and wife, Teanna, Matthew, Alicia, Tyler, Ethan, Alex, Haylee and Amelia; his great-granddaughter, Laramie; his sisters, Karen Everson and Margaret Bussey; his brothers-in-law, Joe Duncan and Ponch Duncan; his many lifelong friends; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased in death by his father and mother, George and Marion Steacy; his brother, Guy Steacy; his sisters, Marion Aloisio and Janet Broadbent; his nephews, Chad Aloisio, Jason Everson and James Boepple; his brothers-in-law, Jim Duncan, Steve Duncan and David Duncan; and his sister-in-law, Terry Kilts. At 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 22, 2024, we welcome friends and family to join us at Armory Hill Cemetery, in Ilion, where Jim will be laid to rest. In honor of his dedicated service as a United States Army National Guard Veteran, military rites will be accorded at the service. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Ilion Marine Corps League, 178 Second Street, Ilion, NY. Mr. Robert Lewis Smaldone, IHS 1969, age 75, of Ilion, passed away on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 in Little Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side. Robert was born on June 28, 1949 in Ilion to the late Lewis Grant and Edith Irene Mower Smaldone. He attended and graduated from Ilion Schools. He served his country in the US Army. He was married to Liz Davy on May 20, 2017 in Herkimer, NY. He was a paratrooper in the United States Army and was very proud to serve his country. He also loved spending time fishing at Basswood Pond and Hinckley Lake with his stepson, Bill. He also leaves a special fishing buddy, Paul Roberts of Ilion. Bob was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed going to NYC for the games and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Robert was a dedicated employee of Bernie Bus Service in Herkimer where he was employed as a bus monitor for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Liz of Ilion; his children, Tanya (David) George of Little Falls, NY and Robert (Allison) Smaldone of Holly Springs, NC; step-children, Linda (Edward) Bracken of Ilion, NY and Bill (Cassandra) Eaton of Ilion, NY. He leaves his favorite sister-in-law, Alberta Davy of Ilion. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Grant (Skip) Smaldone. Patrick J. Denneny (Hameister), IHS 1961, age 81, of Watertown, N.Y., formerly of Ogdensburg, N.Y., passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born on May 18, 1943, in Ogdensburg, N.Y., the son of Franklin and Louise (Murphy) Denneny and attended Ogdensburg Schools. Pat also graduated from the Ilion Annunciation Catholic School, where he was appointed the Supreme Grand Knight Altar Boy, of the Annunciation Altar Boys. He also attended Ilion High School, where a teacher, Miss Ward was a great support. Pat was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. His father, Franklin, served as a WW II Veteran, who was killed in action in Iwo Jima and was awarded many honorable awards and medals, including a Purple Heart, which Pat was allowed to keep during his life. At one time, he was married which later ended in divorce. Pat was employed as a carpenter-mason, at Fort Drum, Vesid (Suny) for several years. He also worked in construction most of his life. Pat was a former member of the Annunciation Church, Ilion, St. Mary's Church, Ogdensburg and most recently attended Holy Family Church and St. Anthony Church, in Watertown. He was a friend of Monsignor Anthony Milia. Surviving is his daughter, Angela Marie; devoted caring friends and neighbors, Tracie and Patrick Side; and longtime friend, Sue Slabe. (August 18, 2024)
Joseph L. Duffy, IHS 1950, of Jefferson St., Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home, with his loving family by his side. He is reunited with his wife, Emilie, in their heavenly home. He was born on September 28, 1932, in Utica, the son of George and Gertrude (Garland) Duffy and graduated from Ilion Central High School. Joseph was married to Emilie Ruth Yavornitzki, on June 18, 1955, at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. She passed away on July 17, 2022. Joseph served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Joseph was honorably discharged from the Army, on November 29, 1956. Joseph's work career as a computer technician included over 25 years at UNIVAC and ICL, in Utica and he finished his career as a Powdered Metalist, at Remington Arms, in Ilion, NY. Joseph was a devout member of the Church of the Annunciation. Joseph also served as CYO advisor for several years alongside close family friends Father Patrick Mangan and Father Terence Healy. Surviving family members include his 5 children: Debra Richards, of Richfield Springs, NY, Diana Duffy and David Koepsel, of Los Angeles, CA, Gregory Duffy and his wife, Pam, of Macedon, NY, Jana Mula and her husband, Pat, of Fairport, NY, and Joseph Duffy and his wife, Samantha, of Webster, NY; 7 grandchildren: Ryan Richards and his wife, Lea Dela Cruz, Kyle Richards and his wife, Elana, Lauren Richards and Jason Gritton, Gregory Duffy and his wife, Caroline, Julie Duffy and partner, Jeremy Mancus, Michelle Zaccaglino and her husband, Tony and Kelly Beisheim and her husband, Andrew; 6 great-grandchildren: Cohen and Halle Richards, Gregory Joseph Duffy III, Emma and Harper Zaccaglino and Madelyn Emilie Beisheim; his sisters-in-law, Marie Duffy, of Ilion and Anna Duffy-Pickering and her husband, John, of Ilion, Diane Stubley, of Ilion; brother-in-law, William Yavornitzki, of New York Mills; sister-in-law, Marilyn Yavornitzki, of Doylestown, PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and William Lucey; brothers, Francis and James Duffy; and brothers-in-law, John Yavornitzki and Thomas Stubley. A self-proclaimed city-boy, Joe Duffy was proud to be from West Utica. His humble upbringing, which centered around the Catholic faith, was instrumental in him becoming the pillar of his family. If you have lived in Ilion, there's a good chance you knew Joe. You might have known him as the life of the party, ‘Party Joe' or 'Joe-to-Go.' Whether singing, clapping, dancing, or laughing, Joe's love for life was contagious. To Joe and Emilie every moment of life was something to be celebrated, and they welcomed anyone they met to share in their celebration. Joe had many passions – faith, music, food, sports – but his devotion to his family was paramount. His love for his children, fondly referred to as the "Five Cadillacs," was unconditional. He dedicated his life to raising a family and provided his children with something invaluable - love, support and the belief that the sky's the limit. These values have had a profound impact on his grandchildren who have been raised by the mantra "don't stop believing." From the moment Joe saw Emilie, he knew she was the one. What first started as pure adoration developed into a beautiful union. A true team, as you never saw one without the other. No matter the obstacle, Emilie and Joe would prevail together. They share a love that is eternal and infinite. Joe's family would also like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all of Dad's special angels sent from above which made it possible for Dad to stay in his home. David William Lennox, Sr., IHS 1963, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024 with his loving wife and children by his side. Born on March 14, 1945 in Utica, New York, he was the son of the late William T. And Elizabeth R. Lennox. Dave graduated from Ilion High School in 1963 and attended Mohawk Valley Community College in New York State. He had a varied and successful career in the plastics industry, retiring from his position as V.P. Of Operations at C & J Industries in Meadville, PA in 2013. On June 4, 1966 Dave married Patricia Bouck and their 58 years together were filled with love, fun, travel and adventure. Dave and Pat were parents to two children whom he adored, David Wm Lennox, Jr. (Johanna)and Cheryl Elizabeth Britt (Richard). Family always came first with Dave and all who knew him knew that. Dave enjoyed golf and while he referred to himself as a duffer he valued his time with his golfing buddies. He also enjoyed cruises and working in the yard. His favorite pastime by far was woodworking. He loved spending time in his workshop and he made the most beautiful projects. He was a jack of all trades in remodeling homes, there was nothing he couldn't do. Dave is survived by his wife Pat and their children, son David Lennox and wife Johanna, daughter Cheryl Britt and husband Richard. Also survived by his grandchildren Victoria Britt and her fiance Ryan Craft, Emily Moran, Pacey Moran and Ryan Moran. He also leaves his brother Bill and sister-in-law Barb Lennox, sister-in-law and brother-in-law John and Carole Natarelli, brother-in-law Rob Bouck and Rob-s significant person Joanne. Survivors include nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, Dave was preceded in death by brothers Rodney and Warren and his Aunt Betty. Dave will be remembered for many great qualities including loyalty and honesty, and especially his sense of humor. A Celebration of Life will be held in Erie, PA for family and close friends. Christopher Patrick Deyle, IHS 1986, age 56, of Ilion, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Born on December 23, 1967, in Utica, NY, Christopher was the cherished son of Patrick and Peggy (Deuel) Deyle. A graduate of HCCC with a degree in Construction Management, Christopher spent 10 years working as an assembler at Remington Arms in Ilion, NY. He also contributed his skills at Clayton Homes in Schuyler and Tioga Construction. His passion for community involvement was evident through his active membership in the Ilion Snow Drifters Club, where he once served as treasurer. Christopher's love for NASCAR was well known among his family and friends, Chris was always there to give a helping hand for whomever needed it. Christopher is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Deyle; his loving parents, Patrick and Peggy Deyle; his brothers Daniel Patrick Deyle and Steven Smaldone; his son Alan Annutto and his wife Natalie; and his half-sister, Sandy Brown. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Cy Deyle and Mary Margaret Deyle. Gail Ann (Bedworth) Miller, IHS 1956, age 86, of Ilion, passed away peacefully at the Wynn Hospital on Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Gail was born in Ilion on October 10, 1937, the daughter of the late Raymond and Virginia (Spedding) Bedworth. She was a graduate of Ilion High School and Albany Business School. She married John V. Miller on April 8, 1961, in Ilion. Gail was a loving and devoted wife, mother, 'Grammy,' and dear friend to many and will be deeply missed. As a homemaker, family was her focus. Gail's generous spirit, cheerful personality, and devotion to her family was ever present. When asked about her greatest accomplishment, she was most proud of raising her children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gail continued the legacy that was begun by her parents, spending countless summers in the Adirondacks on Twitchell Lake, enjoying quality time with loved ones and embracing nature. Gail will be fondly remembered for being the best hostess of holiday gatherings, for her love of playing cards and games, her mastery of numerous crafts and her great sense of fashion. Gail's words of wisdom were to be happy and kind to others. Gail was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John and her brother Gary Bedworth. Mr. Floyd Allen Rose, IHS 1959, age 83, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 18, 2024 at his home on East North Street, Ilion, following a long illness. He had the love and support of his family at his side, when his passing occurred. He was born November 13, 1940, the son of the late Clark A. and Loretta (Rude) Rose and received his education in the Ilion school system, graduating in 1959. In 1961, he married the former Veronica J. Perkins. Floyd was employed as a master heavy fork roller in the forge room with the Union Fork and Hoe in Frankfort for 41 years, retiring August 10, 2000. Floyd is survived by his wife, Veronica, a daughter, Stephanie Schloicka (Herb) of Ilion, and a son, Paul Rose (Sue Overacker) of Ilion. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Rose (Robert) and her children, Robert (Kim), Beth Clapper (Brian), Eileen Chappell (Michael) and a very special cousin, Laurence Rose. Floyd was the last surviving child of Clark and Loretta Rose. He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond (Lovetta), Edward (Lillian), Charles (Ida Mae) Robert. Sisters Mary Willis (Ken), Hazel Eaker (Cliff), and Beatrice Rose and sister, Dorothy who passed at birth and by his mother-in-law, Charlotte A. Perkins. Floyd's proudest moments included being sectional wrestling champion in high school, playing semi-professional football for the Frankfort Falcons and ofcourse the birth of his children, grandchildren: Jonathan Schloicka (Jacquelyn), Timothy Schloicka (Kelsi), Brittany Kuznitz (AJ) and Taylor Rose, and great grandchildren, Thaddaeus Schloicka, Arya Schloicka, and the newest great grandson that he is pictured with Jameson P. Patricia Ann Nora Gloria Perry Janes, IHS Alumnus, On May 29, 2024, Patricia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving famiy. "Patti", as everyone knew her, is survived by her husband, Dale, the love of her life and Soulmate; her beloved children, Jackie (Jon) Morehouse, Amanda (Colby) Mergenthaler and Benjamin Janes (Carrie); her sister and best friend, Marileigh (John) Filipczuk; her life long friends, Linda and Joe Brewer; as well as her sisters, Becky (Les) Hosler and Pamela Klayer. Through the years, Patti enjoyed many different careers as a military wife and mother, but her favorite and most fulfilling job of all was raising her grandchildren for the past 25 years. She adored them beyond words and loved each one with her entire soul. Her memory will be forever carried on by her cherished grandchildren, Ari Janes (Trey), Alyssa (Tyler) Martin, Dante Mergenthaler, Hunter Smith (Izzy), Jacob Mergenthaler, Landon Morehouse and Alice Morehouse; and her amazing great-granddaughter, Lily Martin. Lawrence "Larry" DelGrego, Jr., IHS 1983, passed away at home, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. He was 59 years old. He was surrounded by his loving family who cared for him until the end. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly, of almost 35 years; his 3 children, Luke (Alexandra Hunt) DelGrego, of Sauquoit, NY, Troy (Logan Edson) DelGrego and Paige (Mark Hennings) DelGrego, of Ilion NY; and his granddaughter, Collins DelGrego, the twinkle of his eye. He is also survived by his sister, Tracy (Donna) DelGrego and their 3 children, Zach DelGrego, of Miami FL, Matt DelGrego and Kate DelGrego, of Webster NY; his brother and sisters-in-law, John (Jolene) Day II, of Cedar Lake NY, Gregory (Mary) Day, of Clayton NY and Timothy (Pattie) Day, of Ilion NY. Larry leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence (Babe) DelGrego and Elisabeth (Chic) DelGrego and John (Jack) Day and Charlotte Day; and a cherished nephew, Jack Day. Larry graduated from High School in 1983 and continued his education at Morrisville, graduating with an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology. Machines and engines continued to be a passion throughout his life. Larry never stopped learning new skills and added carpentry to his repertoire. He could make anything, fix anything and build anything. In addition to his own homes, he willingly shared his skills with others and was always a call away. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, Larry continued the high-quality craftsmanship of Parker gun restoration and repair at Larry DelGrego and Son. He earned the respect of antique collectors, hunters and sportsman, throughout the nation. Larry was a proud Ilion Firefighter for over 32 years and an active-duty Deputy Chief. As a firefighter, Larry received many distinguished awards and accolades for his services performed at the line of duty. His most rewarding accomplishment, however, was training and mentoring new firefighters. A three-season athlete himself, he continued his love of sports by coaching the young athletes in Ilion. His coaching usually included one or more of his children and crossed multiple seasons: Pop Warner Football, Pee Wee Wrestling, AYSO Soccer, Little League Baseball and girls' softball. Larry loved his hobbies and included his family in golfing, boating, camping at Moffitt's Beach and truck pulling. Shopping may not have been one of his preferred hobbies, but he never missed a trip to the mall with Kim. He was a member of the Annunciation Church, Ilion Fish and Game Club, International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 1185 and a 4th degree member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus. A true role model to his children, he was always willing to help, generously giving and most importantly, guiding them through all life milestones. His devotion and admiration for Kim set an example for their own relationships. Their best memories are ones spent with him. There was nothing he was prouder of than his marriage and his children. Sustained by the devotion and love of his entire family, Larry fought until the very end. He wanted nothing more than additional time with them. James "Jim" F. Wildey, IHS Alumnus, age 70, passed away on June 2, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. Jim was born on May 24, 1954, in Ilion to the late Katherine and James (LaPoint) Wildey. He was a proud lifelong resident of Ilion. On April 15, 1972, he married Priscilla Reed at the Ilion United Methodist Church, a blessed union that they shared for 52 years. James was a dedicated and knowledgeable millwright worker and skilled craftsman at Remington Arms for 37 years, where he made many lifelong friends. He retired in 2010. A devoted family man, Jim's greatest achievement in life was being a loving husband and father to his wife and their three children. He loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In March of 2023, he lost his beloved daughter Jennifer, which left a tremendous hole in his heart. Jim was an active member of the Ilion Marine Corps League. His generosity and camaraderie were well known, and he was named 2023 Member of the Year. Jim also enjoyed singing country music for his family and friends. He was blessed with three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom he adored. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Priscilla, who remained by his side throughout his illness, caring for him; his daughter Jodi Gay and her husband Jason of Ilion; his son Joshua Wildey and his wife Jessica of Ilion; grandchildren Nathan Tabor, Megan Church and her husband Cody, and Jakob Wildey; great-grandchildren Adalyn and Levi Tabor, and Leon and Emilia Church; sisters Mary Tubia and her husband Jim, Cathy Ingraham, and Lisa Stefanec; his Aunt Helen Scanlon; Uncles Richard and Robert LaPoint; Aunt Pearl Zagurski; sisters-in-law Debbie Donahue and Dianne Reed; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Jennifer Wildey; his brother Jeffrey Wildey; brother-in-law Ronald Reed; sisters-in-law Joan Crookes and Dale Ritton; and mother-in-law Betty Reed. Gary C. Helmer, IHS 1971, of Ilion, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on May 31, 2024. Born in Ilion on January 24, 1953, to the late Leon and Betty Helmer (Williams), Gary lived a life marked by dedication to his family and career. In the fall of 1982, he married Doreen Northway, gaining two sons by marriage, Troy and Dustin. They completed their family with the birth of their daughter, Katelin. Gary dedicated 44 years to the trucking business. His career began with shipping tiles for Enjem's Flooring, followed by oil shipping for Matt Petroleum, and ultimately, he found his place at Mohawk Valley Oil. He drove for 35 years, serving as a mentor to all the drivers. Gary retired in 2018 and cherished his retirement years, spending time with the lights of his life: his daughter Katelin, his son-in-law Ricky, and his beloved grandchildren Trey and Niccolena. Gary's legacy is one of hard work, love, and devotion to his family. Gary is survived by one daughter Katelin and her husband Ricky Helmer Gaut of Vernon, two sons Troy Helmer and his wife Crystal of Ballston Spa and Dustin Helmer and his wife Lauren of Hoover, AL; his beloved grandchildren Trey and Niccolena Helmer of Vernon, Lila and Arlo Helmer, Brayden and Cameron Helmer; his brothers Kenneth Helmer and Leon Helmer; several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Hayleigh Mae Marie Shoemaker, IHS Alumnus, age 25, of Ilion and Sprakers, NY, passed away on May 26, 2024 at Westchester Medical Center following a lifelong illness. Hayleigh was born in Cooperstown, NY on February 18, 1999, the daughter of Jennifer (Jeff) Llewellyn and Dustin (Tora Hammond) Shoemaker and she attended Ilion schools. Hayleigh was the co-owner of Bartlett BBQ in Sprakers, NY. Her hobbies included fishing, races, barbecuing with the love of her life, Charlie, hanging with her friends at the Moose Lodge, and she loved enjoying movies and taking lots of pictures. "Just breathe" Hayleigh was a cystic fibrosis warrior for 25 years. Starting at birth, she fought the fight. Hospital visits and overnight stays in hospitals for weeks on end. Cystic fibrosis didn't stop her though. She played her favorite sports; softball, soccer, and basketball all through school. She beat the odds with so many things. She loved everyone. She was such a caregiver, always wanting to care for everyone. Hayleigh's fight is now over and she is at peace for the first time in her 25 years. May she rest in peace and fly high. Barbara Elaine White, IHS 1966, age 76, of Ilion, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at home, due to lingering health problems. Barbara was born on January 8, 1948 to Charles Earl and Thelma M. Holcomb White. She attended Ilion schools, followed by Monroe Community College, where she achieved an Associates Degree in Applied Science. Most of her working career was in various local banks; in later years, she joined Birnie Bus where she spent 8 years driving school bus in the Ilion area. She was always a great lover of sports. An avid bowler for many years on various leagues, she enjoyed the game and tournaments immensely, and her many bowling friends made. Later, she started playing golf at Maple Crest, a great way to be outside! And Sundays with Sandy at the Knights of Columbus, watching football and buying scratch off tickets, always hoping! She also loved her trips to the Turning Stone. During vacation time, she loved camping at 8th Lake in the Adirondacks, where she had been going since childhood, and road trips to Maine, Cape Cod, and Niagara Falls. She leaves her closest friend of 23 years, Lynn Hervey, her beloved cat Timmy, Gerry and Paul Presser, who she shared many wonderful holiday dinners with, and her great neighbors, Harold and Teresa Mitchell, Joe and Judy McKenzie, and Andy Monahan who have all been so very helpful throughout her illness. She also has always enjoyed getting together with old school friends and reunions. Mr. Thomas William Bradle, IHS 1970, age 72, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the Abraham House in Rome, following an illness. At the time of his passing, Tom had the love and support of his family at his bedside. Born in Ilion on October 9, 1951, Thomas was the son of the late Richard W. and Marie Ann (Drennen) Bradle. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Ilion High School. Tom was employed with Remington Arms for forty years, where he made many lasting friendships amongst his co-workers. He retired after a lengthy career in the parts department. Tom had a love for music that he shared with those around him. He was especially fond of 50's and 60's era rock and roll. In his younger years, he even held aspirations of starting his own music group! He was a frequent concert-goer who had an interest in various musical instruments and loved to sing…even it was only to belt out a ‘Happy Birthday' tune! As a man who was constantly on the move, Tom kept busy by going to casinos, out to dinners and trying his luck at lottery tickets, which he won on quite often. He was fond of doing challenging, thousand-piece puzzles and playing games of Scrabble or Yahtzee with his family and friends. He also had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed visiting museums; his favorite being the JELL-O Gallery in Le Roy, New York! As a man of strong faith, Tom would often call his sister, Donna, who is a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet nun, asking her and the other sisters to pray for various people in Tom's life. He was well aware of the power of prayer and was convinced the nuns had an in with the guy upstairs! He attended the Stations of the Cross and participated in reconciliation with God. He had his own connection to Heaven through the loved ones who passed before him and he would often be found visiting various cemeteries throughout the valley; and could tell you where any one of his family members was buried. At one time, Tom shared in a marriage with Joyce Bradle, whom he traveled the country with. They enjoyed attending concerts, explored the Grand Canyon and even got to swim with the dolphins! Tom will be remembered as a kindhearted man who was a friend to everybody. He never had an unkind word and was open and honest; the type of friend who everyone wants to have. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed vacationing down south to visit his nephews and nieces. He was also a longtime member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his siblings, Sister Donna Bradle, CSJ of Latham, Lorraine Chapman of Manlius, Annette Dunn of Herkimer and Richard Bradle of Ilion; his nieces and nephews, Steven (Lisa) Bradle, Christopher (Melanie) Bradle, Will Bradle, Stephanie (Gray) Andrews, Patrick Dunn, Ryan Carpenter, Richard Bradle, Shannon (Rob) Casta and Jeff (Sandy) Chapman; his special friend, Peg Perrone; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Steven Bradle; and his brother-in-law, Jon Chapman. A special thank you is extended to the nurses and staff of the Abraham House in Rome for the care and compassion shown to Tom and his family throughout his illness and passing. Elisabeth "Chic" (Hitchcock) DelGrego, IHS 1957, passed away, at home, on Friday, May 10, 2024 at, 85 years young. She was surrounded by her loving family who cared for her until the very end. Elisabeth is survived by her devoted children: her daughter, Tracy (Donna) DelGrego, of Webster, NY; her son, Lawrence (Kim) DelGrego, of Ilion, NY; her grandchildren, Luke (Alex) DelGrego, of Sauquoit, NY, Troy (Logan) DelGrego, of Ilion, NY, Paige (Mark) DelGrego, of Ilion, NY, Zach DelGrego, of Miami Beach, FL and Matt DelGrego and Kate DelGrego, of Webster, NY; and her great- granddaughter, Collins DelGrego. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Noffer, of Ballston Spa, NY; her brother, Jerry (Debbie) Hitchcock, of Gainesville, GA; and her sister-in-law, Sherry DiTripano, of Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania. Chic also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Chic was predeceased by her adoring husband Lawrence “Babe” DelGrego; her parents, Willis Hitchcock and Catherine Williams Goering; her brothers, Willis (Marion) Hitchcock, Douglas (Irene) Hitchcock and Robert Hitchcock; her sisters, Jeanette Richway and Gertrude Tangora; and sister-in-law and brother in law, Sheila and Robert McFeeley. Born on May 6, 1939, she was a life-long resident of Ilion, graduating from Ilion High School, in 1957. Chic worked at Marine Midland Bank, in Ilion and Utica. Later she worked for the family business, DelGrego and Sons (Parker Gun Repair). After completing her accounting degree, she was employed by H&R Block. Her love for her hometown was evident. She dedicated over a decade on the Ilion school board. With her partner Babe, she spent many hours on the sidelines of Ilion sports: football, field hockey, wrestling and even truck pulls, loyally cheering for Lawrence and her grandchildren. Chic also served as a Deacon at the Presbyterian Church, in Ilion. Chic and Babe enjoyed many domestic and international trips with life long friends and family. Their love of grandchildren also took them to Webster to cheer from the pool deck and the sports field sidelines. They especially loved their time camping. A fierce competitor, Chic never turned down the opportunity to play cards or participate in her weekly mahjong games. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf. Chic loved to find the best bargains on her wonder "full" days shopping with Tracy and Barb. Frank Emmons Sheffield IV, IHS 1972, age 69, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on May 2, 2024. Born on May 29, 1954, in Ilion, NY, Frank was the beloved son of the late Betty Morton and Frank Emmons Sheffield III. A lifelong resident of Ilion, he married his devoted wife, Kelly, on September 13, 1986, in a beautiful ceremony that further rooted their lives in the community they loved. Frank dedicated 38 years of service to Remington Arms in Ilion, where he worked until his retirement in 2018. His co-workers remember him as a steadfast and reliable presence, always striving to maintain the highest levels of craftsmanship. An active member of the Ilion Elks Lodge 1444, Frank's generosity and camaraderie were well-known within the group. His passion for music was profound and he was held in high esteem as one of the best left-handed guitarists in the Valley, much to the enjoyment of his friends and family. Frank also enjoyed surfing the web for interesting articles, cooking delicious meals and visiting places both new and familiar, always looking forward to the thought of travel. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Kelly, and son, Frank, both of Ilion. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Pickett of Ilion. Sister and Brother-In-Laws, Patricia and Richard Reynolds, William and Rhonda Trevor, Michael Trevor, Kevin Trevor and Wendy Kovac, Daniel and Linda Trevor, Bridget and Kevin McKinley and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Margaret Trevor-Davidson, and brother-in-law, Thomas Trevor. Virginia (Ginny) L. (Oram) Wood, IHS Alumnus, of Ilion, passed into the hands of the Lord on Friday, April 26, 2024, in Ilion, NY. Ginny was born on March 20, 1937, in Ilion, the daughter of the late Carl E. and Anna M. (Frank) Oram. Ginny was educated in Ilion public schools. She started working at an early age due to her love of clothes. Beginning in the kitchen at the Ilion Hospital when she was young, then local factories and grocery stores for much of her life while raising her children. She also worked as a Home Health Care Aide and worked for her father in his taxi business. She retired to take care of her mother when she needed her most. She was married at one time to Jesse R. Wood and had their three beloved children. When Ginny was a teenager her family moved to Richfield Springs, on Canadarago Lake where she always referred to as home. She loved to roller skate and dance. She also loved to sing in her younger years and would frequently join in with the local bands for a song or two at New Charles and some of the other local establishments. Ginny had strong beliefs when it came to her Lord and Savior and hung onto those beliefs throughout her life. Her family were the blessings that were the light of her life. Saddened and heartbroken, she leaves behind a family that will forever have an emptiness in their hearts but who know that she is now holding her son and mother who she missed so dearly, along with all her loved ones who passed before. Surviving are her two daughters, Donna M. Wood of Mohawk and Connie L. Shepherd and son-in-law Lynn of Ilion; her adored grandchildren, Storm Wood and his fiancé, Sabrina of West Winfield, Ivan Wood and his mother Melissa, both of South Kortright and Madison Shepherd of Ilion, along with her children's brother, Joseph Martin. She also leaves her brother-in-law Keith Zabry. Ginny also leaves her great grandchildren, Caden, Ryker and Echoe, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and her best friend from childhood, Nella Mae Harter and her friend Gina Viti of Ilion. She will be missed by all who knew her. Ginny was predeceased by her father and mother, Carl E. and Anna M. (Frank) Oram; her siblings Walter Oram, Carl Oram, Carol Foley, Shirley Zabry, Darlene Okusko and her beloved son, Jesse Wood. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at The Grand in Ilion. In keeping with mom's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Helen F.(Finnegan/Finnigan) McLean, IHS 1945, age 95, formerly of Newport, NY and Kinderhook, NY, died on April 24, 2024 at the Masonic Care Community in Utica where she has resided for the past five years. Mrs. McLean was born on June 19, 1928 in Frankfort, NY, daughter to the late John and Mary (Vorel) Finnegan. She graduated from Ilion High School and was previously married to Ronald W. McLean. Helen assisted with the operation of McLean Pharmacy, formerly of Newport, until moving to Kinderhook in 1976. While residing in Newport, she was a member of St. John's Church, Newport Garden Club and the Honey Hill Golf Club. In 1976, her family relocated to Kinderhook, NY. Here she was an active member of the Columbia County Historical Society, the Kinderhook Garden Club, The Sweet Adeline's singing group, as well as a docent for the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY. She was interested in Native American history and took several classes at the College of St. Rose. Her interests were many and varied, spending time in her beautiful gardens and walking her obligatory 2 miles to stay spritely. In 2016, Helen relocated to Brookdale Senior Living in Clinton and in 2019, to the Masonic Care Community. Survivors include five children, Eric (Linda) McLean of Signal Mountain, TN, David (Valerie) McLean of Newport, Janice McLean of Utica, Jeffrey (Jill) McLean of Whitesboro, and Mary Ellen (Tim) Oles of Chatham; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by three sisters, Patricia Ferguson, Katherine Shields, and Mary Burroughs, and her former husband, Ronald McLean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church, Newport, on Friday, May 3 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport. Doris (Maxine) (Ward) Palczynski, IHS 1950, 90 years old, passed away on April 25, 2024, at Albany Medical Center, with her family at her side, as she left this world. She succumbed to injuries received in a motor vehicle accident while turning into her driveway. Maxine was born on June 21, 1933, in Laurel Hill (Scotland County) North Carolina, the daughter of Sarah Ammons and Barden Ward. She was united in marriage to the late Francis (Hank) Palczynski in Ilion United Methodist Church, on March 21, 1959. Hank passed away on November 25, 2018. Maxine graduated from Ilion High School, Elmira College (Bachelor's Degree) and received her Master's Degree from Syracuse University. She began her career in Utica as a Social Worker and transitioned to teaching and was a reading specialist for the Mohawk Central School District for 30+ years. She continued to enjoy giving the gift of reading to others throughout her life. Surviving Maxine are son, Francis Palczynski II and daughter-in-law, Letha, of Herkimer; daughter, Judy Palczynski and partner, Mike Shaul, of Whitefish, MT; granddaughter, Alexa Palczynski (Alexa-pie, Apple of My Eye); grandson, Francis (Trey) Palczynski III (Trey Boy); nieces, Julie Poetto and husband, Paul, Joan Guild and husband, Don, and Carol Venezio and husband, Jim, of Guilderland, NY; along with many great-nieces and nephews; teacher and high school friends, especially Georgette LaPorte, with whom she spent many hours each week. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters- in-law, Joseph and Ann Palczynski and John and Catherine Jackamorch. Maxine and Hank made traveling during their school vacations a priority, showing their children every corner of the United States and spending fun-filled times with their extended camping family, the Shauls, Dunns, Biasinis and Jesses. Maxine was a vibrant, feisty, determined and strong woman who was proud of her frugal Scottish heritage. When making purchases, she often noted it was "the Scot in me" when she chose the least expensive option. In contrast, she was extremely generous to her family and causes about which she cared.
Arthur L. Patrei, IHS 1967, age 74 of Liverpool, NY passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024. Arthur was born in Ilion, NY on July 20, 1949, the son of the late Louis and Viola Patrei. He graduated from Ilion Central High School in 1967 and was a player on the varsity football team. He continued his education attending Albany Business College and Southern New Hampshire University, receiving a BA in business in 1971. After college, Art was employed at Marine Midland Bank in Syracuse, NY and eventually retired as an award-winning Regional Sales Manager for Primus, a division of Ford Motor Credit. After moving to Canastota, NY, Art was a Pop Warner football coach and was part of a Championship team. Art then became a high school football official. He continued to share his love of the sport with the youth of the community. It wasn't uncommon to see Art gathering the local kids for a weekend game in the snow. He had great appreciation and knowledge of the game. Art was a big fan of Syracuse University sports, especially football. From the NFL draft to the end of the season, he was an expert and loved all aspects of the game. Art enjoyed spending time with his family most, and always had a way to make them laugh. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was very proud of their accomplishments. His love, strength, advice and encouragement always motivated his children and grandchildren to succeed. Arthur will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. He is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Viola Patrei, brother, Samuel Patrei, and in-laws, William and Marian Howard. Arthur was previously married to the former Priscilla Byrnes of Ilion, NY. Arthur is survived by his wife, Karen, two daughters; Janine (Michael) Fitzgerald of Binghamton and Kassi (Derik) Tolone of Ridgeland, SC. his son, Ryan (Gina) Patrei of Rochester, his beloved grandchildren; Grace Fitzgerald, Maggie Fitzgerald, Ryan Samuel Patrei and Jake Patrei, his favorite dogs, Maggie and Rocky, a brother, Louis (Suzanne) Patrei of Clinton, NY and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie (Reid) McAnuff, IHS 1965, 76, a resident of Ilion, NY, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, at Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY. Born to the late Irving L. and Florence Neil Reid, Marjorie's early life in Ilion shaped a lifetime of service and community engagement. Marjorie's career in the School Lunch Department exemplified her deep commitment to nurturing others. Her warmth and boundless generosity left an impactful mark on countless students and colleagues, enriching the community she so lovingly served. Marjorie is survived by her brother, David and his wife Priscilla Reid; her sisters, Faith Case and Sherry Mahoney. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Terence, and siblings Irving, Robert, Donald, Tommy, and Barbara, as well as her brother-in-law, Francis Case. Katie M. (Briggs) Waltermire, IHS 1998, age 44, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She had the love and support of her family at her side when her passing occurred. Katie was born in Ilion, NY on Sept. 18, 1979, daughter of Larry S. Briggs and Janet Stevens. Katie was educated in Ilion schools, graduating from Ilion High School, Class of 1998. She went on to graduate from Roberts Wesleyan University, Rochester, NY with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was last employed at KabaFusion as a Registered Nurse. Katie's passion for Nursing lasted 20 years. She continued to work while receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments and would get frustrated anytime it was suggested that she should stop working. Her children meant the world to her and some of her most cherished time was spent being a mother, daughter, sister and aunt. Survivors include her devoted family; her parents, Larry (Patricia) Briggs of Ilion, Janet Stevens of Jordanville; her adored children, Ethan, Timothy, McKenzie Waltermire and the father of Katie's children, Daniel Waltermire; her loving sister, Joanna Marshall and husband Brian of Jordanville; niece and nephew, Brianna and Jaxson Marshall; uncle and aunt, Lynn Briggs, Sandra and James Mallory; many cousins and dear friends, including John Monette. She was preceded in death by her uncles, Clayton and Wayne Stevens; maternal grandparents, Arlowene and Gordon Stevens; and paternal grandparents, Sherwood and Pauline Briggs. The family will receive relatives and friends at Mohawk Reformed Church, 20 S. Otsego Street, Mohawk from 5-7 pm on Monday, April 22, 2024. Lorraine (Urtz) Covell, IHS 1955, age 88, a longtime resident of Fourth Street, Village of Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Saturday morning, April 20, 2024, in Ilion, New York. She was born on October 25, 1935, in Ilion, a daughter of the late Clarence C. and Bertha (Shutts) Urtz. She was a graduate of Ilion High School, 'Class of 1955.' For 34 years, she worked with the New York Telephone Company, Herkimer and Utica, as a telephone operator. She retired in January 1992. As a testimony to her dedicated work career, she was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers. She was a communicant of the Church of the Annunciation, in Ilion. Lorraine spent the most comfortable and rewarding moments of her life with family and friends at the camp on Canadarago Lake. In her leisure time she always enjoyed the company of her cats. She is survived by her beloved family: her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Joyce Urtz, of Richfield Springs; her niece, Wendy (Urtz) Chapman and her husband, Bradley, of Richfield Springs; her nephew, Jeffrey Crutcher and his wife, Susan, of Poughkeepsie, New York; her great-niece and great-nephew, Bambi and Rock; and several cousins. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Bertha; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Jane Urtz; and her nephew, David Urtz. Barbara Jean (Seaman) Hodom, IHS 1960, age 82, of Slingerlands, N.Y., passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2024, surrounded by family, after a long battle with dementia. She was born on May 11, 1941, in Ilion, N.Y. She attended grade school at Annunciation Catholic School and graduated from Ilion High School in 1960. Barbara was pre-deceased by her father, Gordon Seaman; mother, Edith (McMillan) Seaman; and sister, Beverly Seaman. Her surviving siblings are Elizabeth Garlock, Lawrence Seaman, Bernice "Bunny" Seymour and Benita "Nita" Holley. Barbara married Michael Hodom in 1960 and proceeded to support him through his college education. They moved to Delmar, N.Y. in 1965, where they raised their family. Barbara went to work at the Town of Bethlehem in 1976 as an assistant court clerk. She served as the Justice Court Clerk from 1978 to 2008 when she retired. The town named the Town Courtroom after her upon her retirement. Barbara was also very involved in the New York State Magistrates and Court Clerk Association. She was president from 1987-1990 and she was named Court Clerk of the year in 1996. She retired from the association in 2013. Barbara also served as the Slingerlands Elementary School PTA president and was a member for the Bethlehem Hight School Booster Club. She was very involved in the St. Thomas the Apostle programs through the years and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Bethlehem Garden Club and enjoyed several years of wintering in Naples, Fla. In addition to her devoted husband, Michael; Barbara is survived by her children, Michael Hodom (Susan) of Delmar and Kathleen Paris (Michael) of Averill Park. She has six grandchildren, Shauna Paris, Jacob Hodom, Ryan Paris, Nicholas Hodom, Brianne Bermas and Michayla Mann; as well as six great-grandchildren, Brynn, Reese, Lilah, Jaxon, Keegan, and Ellison; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Community Hospice and especially her dedicated care givers, Chi, Sue, Geri, Pam, Jarod, and Kim, as well as the Eddy Foundation and St. Thomas Church visitors: Marcia, MaryKay, Marie, Alice, Francine, Lorraine, Mary and Sandy. There will be a service at a later date as Barb has donated her remains to the Albany Medical College, Anatomical Gift Program. Carol A. (Krawczyk, Dibble) Burns, IHS 1963, passed away on April 8, 2024, at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, after courageously battling a prolonged illness, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on August 7, 1945, in Wenatchee, WA, to the late Ignatius Krawczyk and Dorothy (Roe) Krawczyk. She graduated from Ilion High School in 1963 and furthered her education at Utica School of Commerce. Carol's passions in life were as varied as they were vibrant. She found joy in watching movies, game shows, and the comedy of Jeff Dunham. Her love for the Hallmark Channel was unmatched, and she spent countless hours enjoying its heartwarming stories. However, it was in the kitchen where Carol truly flourished, sharing her baking expertise and creating cherished memories with her loved ones. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Douglas R. Dibble Sr. and his wife, Christine of Frankfort, Randy Dibble and his wife, Elena of Ilion and Vicky C. and her husband Gary Palmer of South Glens Falls, NY. Carol is also survived by her two sisters, Estella and her husband, Allan Stinson and Patricia and her husband, Gary Morse, both of Ilion. Her legacy lives on through her two beloved granddaughters, Madison Dibble and Sophia Dibble as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Eileen (Edick) Wengert McIntyre, IHS 1944, age 96 years old, of Lake Wales, Florida, passed away quietly in her sleep on February 21, 2024. Eileen was born in 1927 to Ralph and Marion Edick in Ilion, New York. After graduating with an Associate of Arts degree in Business from Keuka College, she returned to Ilion to begin working. In 1951, Eileen met and married Donald Wengert in Ilion, where they had four children, Bradd Alan, Denise Ellen, Kimberly Ann, and Shari Lynn. After becoming a widow in 1980, Eileen worked for Herkimer County motor vehicles department. She was active in the Eastern Star and Triangle organizations, was a poll worker for the elections for Herkimer County and was on the committee for her high school 40th reunion. It was at her high school reunion where she reconnected with a high school classmate Harold J. (Joe) McIntyre, and they married in the summer of 1985 in Ilion. In the years following their marriage they became "Snowbirds" in Frostproof, Florida. She taught clogging at Camp Inn until she turned 90 years old. She loved putting on talent shows, going on cruises, taking organ lessons, and traveling the country with her husband. Eileen was predeceased by both parents, her second and third husbands, along with her son Bradd. She is survived by Denise (Robert) Grier of Gibsonia, PA, Kimberly W. Montez of Frostproof, FL, and Shari Wengert of St. Cloud, FL., Susan (Jim) Chase of Booneville, NY, and Michael (Jackie) McIntyre of Cazenovia, NY; grandchildren Brian Grier, Steven Grier, Tabitha Montez Howard, Donald Montez, Andrew Chase, Katie Karney, Maureen Bush, Christopher Chase, Beth Merklinger, Patrick Chase, and Shelby Paddock and many great grandchildren. A "celebration of life" memorial for family members will be held at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St. in Ilion on April 27, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Joelle Faulks, officiating. Jon Christian Pedersen, IHS 1969, age 72, passed away on April 1, 2024 at the Wynn Hospital in Utica. Jon was born on April 23, 1951 in Herkimer, a son of the late Robert and Eleanor Dutcher Pedersen. He attended Ilion Schools and graduated from Ilion High School with the class of 1969 and he went on to obtain his Associate's Degree. He was employed as a Machine Operator with Remington Arms Co. in Ilion for many years. Jon was married to Sharon Dye on August 3, 1974. The two shared a blessed union until Sharon's passing in 2020. Jon is survived by his three sons; Alan Pedersen and wife, Sherry of New Hartford, NY, Thomas Pedersen of Ilion, NY and Robert Pedersen of Big Pine Key, FL; grandchildren, Nathen Pedersen and his wife, Amanda of Ilion, NY, Kayleigh Jouben and her husband, Joe, of Newport, NY, Trinity Pedersen, Taylor Pedersen and Tia Pedersen of Ilion, NY, Thomas, and Jonathon and Evan Pedersen of North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Joey and Jett Jouben and Logan and Anyaleigh Pedersen, Jon is also survived by his sister, Roberta Mahlmeister and husband, Michael of The Villages, Florida; brothers in law, Keith Dye and his wife Barb and Ken Dye and several nieces and nephews. Ann (Urtz) Cotter, IHS 1966, age 76, of Little Falls, NY and formerly of Ilion, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 28, 2024. Ann was born in Ilion on January 28, 1948, the daughter of the late Richard and Peggy (Dwyer) Urtz. Ann was a 1966 graduate of Ilion High School. She also graduated from Herkimer County Community College with an Associates Degree in accounting. On December 15, 1983, in Annunciation Church in Ilion, Ann was joined in marriage to the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Cotter, who predeceased her in 2002. Ann and Jimmy spent many summers at their camp at Half Moon Beach in Piseco where they developed many life-long friendships and memories. Ann was employed by Remington Arms for many years working in the business office. She also held employment with Utica Mutual Insurance at one time. Ann was a communicant of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls and a member of its Rosary Society. She also volunteered with the Red Cross and Piseco Lake Fire Department Auxiliary. Ann was an avid Syracuse Orange fan attending many home games. Ann is survived by her beloved family which includes her brother, Steven Urtz and wife Celenna of Fort Mohave, Az., her three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Noreen and Stan Zysk, Liz and Rod Pritchard, and Cathy and Dave Carpineti, all of Little Falls. She also leaves her beloved nieces and nephews, Jeff Urtz, Chris and Shannon Urtz, Lisa Urtz, Albert Scott and Katrina Kile, Andy and Sharon Zysk, Walt and Alicia Zysk, Shauna Cone, Laura and Manny Cruz, Ellen Cone, Bill Carpineti, Kait and Sean Regan, and Nora Sullivan. Survivors also include several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. Ann was predeceased by her husband Jimmy, her parents Richard and Peggy Urtz, her father- in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Helen Cotter, brothers, Tom and Robert Urtz, sister-in-law, Cecelia Urtz, brother-in-law, Eddie Cotter, nephews, Jimmy Zysk and Jason Sullivan. Mary (Hartman) Baggetta, IHS 1975, age 66, of Latham, passed away Saturday evening, March 30, 2024. Born in Ilion, NY on May 27, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Doris (Hartleb) Hartmann. Mary grew up in Ilion and was a 1975 graduate of Ilion High School. Following graduation she went on to further her education while earning a Bachelor's degree in biology from Niagara University and a nursing degree from Dutchess Community College. She worked as a Registered Nurse at both Northern Dutchess Hospital and Albany Medical Center. Mary then worked as a Quality Auditor for Anthem until her retirement in 2023. In her free time, Mary enjoyed tending to her garden, cooking for her family, trips to Florida beaches with her husband, and cheering on the Yankees and NY Giants. Mary had a love for all animals, especially dogs. While she found pleasure in the many little joys of this life, nothing made her happier than time spent with her family, especially her 3 beloved grandchildren. Mary is survived by her adoring husband, Joseph Baggetta, Jr. of Latham, their two children, Christina (Matthew) Biviano of Latham and Joseph (Gabrielle) Baggetta of Parrish, FL, her grandchildren; Ava and Nico Biviano, and Amelia Baggetta, her brother Kurt (Maureen) Hartmann of Baldwinsville, her in-laws Joseph Sr. and Catherine Baggetta of Herkimer, her sisters-in-law Lori (Bob) Kane of New Hartford, NY and Katherine (Jason Chakot) Dongsavanh of Clifton Park, and by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Fred (Rose Marie survives) Hartmann. Mary's family would like to thank Dr. Yamamoto and the entire Albany Med Neuro ICU team for the special and heartfelt care that was provided to her. Steven P. Williams, IHS 1984, age 58, of West St., Utica, NY, passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 13, 2024, of natural causes. He was born on September 13, 1965, in Ilion, NY the son to the late Robert L. and Bonnie G. (Davis) Williams Sr. He was a graduate of Ilion High School class of 1984. Steve began his first career in skilled trades with installing flooring of all types. He then moved onto work for his sister at MedEx Billing, Inc. as a billing specialist. He was often the entertainment for the office so not much work got done when he was having his witty moments. He then took employment with Wyoming Community Hospital in the Maintenance Department where he later became a supervisor. Because of his love of animals, he had also worked at the Humane Society often tackling the cage cleaning of some difficult animals. He was a kindhearted, loving, and witty person. He would always come up with something that was sure to make us all laugh or question where he got that knowledge from. He also carried that wit through to any social setting or job he took on. He loved sports especially football and spent a lot of time watching games with his father. When his dad fell ill, he became a great companion and caregiver to him until his passing. He would then continue to watch football, especially the Buffalo Bills games, where he would text the tenuous moments with his sister, Wendy. When dad was a bit younger, he and Steve spent a lot of time fishing, which was one of their favorite hobbies. While living in LeRoy, NY he attained his scuba diving certification and loved going scuba diving with his sister exploring the beautiful underwater world. Steve had a creative spirit when it came to art, music, and cooking. He was a natural at the guitar, he could pick it up and play a riff he had heard from almost any rock song. His favorite guitarist was Yngwie Malmsteen, who many have not heard of. He was a great cook, which he got from his mother, and loved creating specialty pizzas along with delicious dishes of almost anything. Steve's family and friends have so many happy and cherished memories. We especially loved getting together at Christmas time as a family, most recently at Kenny and Todd's home, who always put on an amazing spread of food. Renee and Bobby would bring mom's famous broccoli casserole, Mike, Steve, and Wendy would come planning to stay a day or two as we were always in a food coma afterward. We played many games and had so many laughs with his nieces and nephew. Steve always brought his witty self, and we will miss him and his wit dearly. Survivors include a sister Wendy Mancuso of LeRoy, NY, three brothers Michael L. Williams of Utica, Kenneth P. Williams and husband Todd Blodget of Little Falls, and Robert L. Williams Jr. and wife Renee of Mohawk. Also, a niece Lauren Williams and her fiance Jonathan Duncan of Spring Hill, Fl, a nephew Tristen Williams of Mohawk, a niece Brianna Williams of Mohawk. Steve also leaves behind his feline companions Willy Boo and Scooby Boo who he loved very much. He was predeceased by his mother Bonnie G. Williams (Davis) and his father Robert L. Williams Sr. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 4-6 pm at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to Hannaford Markets), 527 E. Albany St. Herkimer, NY. A short prayer service will follow at 6:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will take place at Armory Hill Cemetery, at a later date. Sharon Anne Riddell, IHS 1979, age 62, died on March 12, 2024, after succumbing to the effects of a brain aneurysm. Her passing occurred with her dedicated and loving children by her side. Born on September 2, 1961, Sharon is the daughter of Margaret (Carr) Riddell and the late Richard A. Riddell, who welcomed her home to Heaven with open arms. She was raised and educated locally and graduated with the Ilion High School Class of 1979. At one time she shared a marriage with Paul Palumbo, a relationship from which came the blessings of their children. In her earlier years, Sharon's primary focus was on being a mother and raising her children and she was blessed to be able to stay home with them until they were teenagers. Her greatest joys in life came from the accomplishments of Ryan and Sarah and she never missed a milestone in their lives. Sharon was always their biggest fan and most avid supporter. When her children were grown, Sharon went to work for what is now the Central Valley School District. For seventeen years, she was a Teacher's Aide and through her position was able to share her motherly love and support with the countless children with whom she worked. She also formed lasting bonds and friendships amongst her co-workers. Faith played a large role throughout Sharon's life, and she leaned on God during trying times to help her through. For many years, she taught religious education at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. To her very core, Sharon was nothing less than selfless and giving. She was full of compassion for others and constantly put everyone else's needs ahead of her own. When she did relax and wind down, she enjoyed nothing more than a glass of wine and a day of sunshine by the pool. She loved to curl up with a good book and had a fondness for her pet cats. Her beautiful smile and outgoing personality will be truly missed by those she leaves behind. Even though her life was cut short, Sharon was able to perform one final act of selflessness on the evening she died, with the donation of her organs. It is her family's hope that these gifts may restore life and hope for others. She leaves behind her children, Ryan Palumbo of Syracuse and Sarah Palumbo of Waterville; her mother, Margaret Riddell of Ilion; her brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Suzanne Riddell of Ilion; her nephews and niece, Matthew Riddell of Ilion, Stephen Palumbo of San Diego and Jaclyn Palumbo of San Francisco; her companion for the last five years, Dominick Deon of Frankfort; and her former in-laws, Paul and Mayme Palumbo of Frankfort. She also leaves many co-workers and friends, too numerous to mention. A special thank you is extended to the Wynn Hospital ICU doctors, nurses and staff for the heartfelt compassion and care shown to Sharon and her family during this difficult time. Cynthia A. "Cindy" (Piacente) Rook, IHS 1976, age 66, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY. She was born on March 19, 1957, in Ilion, NY and was a graduate of Ilion High School. Cindy was last employed as a jewelry clerk for Wal-Mart Super Center in Fulton, NY. Survivors include her mother, Mary Moore; her fiancé, Richard W. (Rick) Trevor; a son, Lee Rook; a grandson, Steven Boyer and girlfriend, Jade; many grandchildren, a great grandchild; three sisters, Mary Stone and husband Brian, Cathy Williams and husband Ken and Dawn Edick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Cindy enjoyed bird watching, spending time with her family and thrift shopping for knick-knacks. Her favorite place to eat was Rudy's and her favorite snack was half-moon cookies. Brian "OLP" Whiter, IHS 1969, age 73, of Woolwich Maine, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024, at Togus Springs VA Hospital in Augusta Maine. Brian was born in Utica, NY, on May 23, 1950, the son of the late Gerald Whiter and Ruth Frances Murray. He was raised in Ilion, NY. On January 21, 1969, Brian joined the United States Marine Corps where he earned several honors including a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and earned a Rifle Marksman Badge. In 1999 Brian moved to Woolwich Maine where he spent years as a welder at Bath Iron Works and officially retired in 2013. Brian could be found with a book in his hand or in his backyard "garden". He had a love for traveling and meeting new faces. He enjoyed his time with his friends at Maxwell's and visited NY often to see his family and his many friends. Survivors include two sons, Brian (Jennifer) Whiter II of Ilion, NY and Dakota Whiter of Latham, NY, One sister, Debbie Whiter of Ithaca, NY, six grandchildren, Mason, Dane, Trinity, Connor, Jackson and Charlie. Brian is also survived by the mother of his children Barbara Edwards. He is predeceased by his parents Gerald Whiter and Ruth Murray and a brother Vernon Whiter. To honor Brian's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Please celebrate Brian in your own way. As per Brian II and Dakota go have drink and a nap at Crossway's in his honor. Shawn Michael Patterson, IHS 1988 was called by his Lord on March 5th after a very brief illness. He was born September 21st, 1969 in Fort Worth, TX to Charlotte Ann (Platts) Patterson and Donald H. Patterson Sr. Shawn was a graduate of Ilion High School, class of 1988. Upon his graduation, he became a United States Marine at Parris Island, SC. He continued his training at Camp Lejeune, NC for motor T school and was assigned to MCAS El Torro, CA. While there, he supported Operation Just Cause (Panama) from El Torro as a refueler/defueler of aircraft. Shawn was deployed to Bahrain for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm where he also served as a refueler/defueler. He was a very proud Marine. Upon his completion of his Marine Corps service, Shawn traveled the country, settling in SC, WA state and VA for a time, working his way up to Foreman in construction and as a truck driver before eventually relocating back to New York. He was employed by JC Rendering at the time of his passing. Driving was his passion and he covered the 48 states many times. Shawn loved to tinker, especially with vehicles. There wasn't much he couldn't fix. His most favored and precious time was spent with his grandbabbies for game and movie nights. Shawn was a family man who loved to be by himself. He was preceeded in death by his parents, his beloved Uncle Chick & Aunt Janet (Patterson) and Uncle John (Platts). He is survived by his son, Patrick Allen and his wife, Jasmine of Clayville. His five grandbabbies who he loved spending time with; Kyla, Logan, Austin, Hunter and Judith. Siblings; Scott and his wife Carla Patterson of Gallup, NM, Christie Szpyrka and her partner, Anthony Britton of Philadelphia, PA, Veronica and her husband Todd Smithson of Ilion, Donald Jr and his wife Carol of Ilion, Thom-son of Lawrenceville, GA, Melissa and her husband Debony Maffett of Stockbridge, GA and Tracey and her husband Tim Glass of Lawrenceville, GA. Shawn also leaves his Uncle Hercules Platts of Vernon, Aunt Maria of NC, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved very much. Per Shawn's request, he will be cremated and there will be a gathering of family and friends 'to drink a beer for me' at a later date. Frances J. De John, IHS Alumnus, age 80, of Herkimer passed away peacefully Sunday, February 4, 2024 in Foltsbrook. She was born in Ilion, New York on April 16, 1943, the daughter of the late Francis "Bill" and Frances Kinney De John. She attended and graduated from Ilion High School. Frances worked for her father at De John's Remodeling Center, Ilion for many years. Fran was a devout catholic and a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Frances is survived by her cherished brother, William De John of Ilion; two nephews, William De John of Arizona and Travis De John of North Carolina and several cousins. She was predeceased by her mother and father. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery later this spring. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Beverly Ann Seaman, IHS 1961, age 81, of Fort Edward, NY, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital. She was born on June 1, 1942, in Ilion, the daughter of Gordon and Edith (McMillan) Seaman. She graduated from Annunciation Catholic School and Ilion High School, class of 1961. Bev was employed in the Engineering Dept. and was a Supervisor at Verizon, in Glens Falls, for over 30 years. She was a member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Telephone Pioneers. Bev was an avid golfer and one of her joys in life was getting a Hole in One, at Queensbury Country Club! She was also an active bowler, in Ilion. Surviving family members include her sisters and brother, Barbara Hodom and her husband, Mike, of Delmar, NY, Elizabeth Garlock, of Valpariso, Indiana, Benita Holley, of Lake Placid, NY, Lawrence Seaman and his wife, Veronica, of Ilion and Bunny Seymour and her husband, Tom, of Ilion; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and very close friends, Diane Bement, Judy Nichols, Julie Finchtner and Jennie Lee Altizio. She was predeceased by her parents. Ralph C. Bottini, Sr., IHS 1959, age 82, of Oneida, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Oneida Health Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on November 7, 1941, in Utica, the son of Samuel and Angeline (Valenti) Bottini. He was a 1959 graduate of Ilion High School. On April 14, 1978, Ralph was united in marriage to Kathleen Kuroski in St. Joseph's St. Patrick's Church in Utica. Kathleen passed away on January 2, 2022. On March 15, 1960, Ralph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1963. He then went on to serve as a member of the United States Air National Guard until 1968. Ralph was employed at Remington Arms in Ilion from 1964 to 1985 as a process engineer. From there he became a sales engineer in the manufacturing industry. He most recently owned and operated Ralph C. Bottini Co. since 1998. Ralph and Kathy moved to Oneida in 1987 from Ilion. While in Ilion, Ralph was a founding member of the Ilion Angels Pop Warner organization. He was a long time Little League and Babe Ruth baseball coach in both Oneida and Ilion. He was a member of the Spirit of Hope Parish, attending St. Patrick's Church. He was a honorary life member of the E. Bart Hanifin Council 473 Knights of Columbus and the Edward A. McDowell 4th Degree Color Guard. He was an avid fan of the Syracuse Orange, NY Yankees, and NY Giants. He enjoyed being loving, caring, and generous to his family and friends. Surviving are his five children, Tammy Bottini, of Morrisville, Ralph C. (Laurie) Bottini, Jr., of Canton, GA, Angeline (Robert) Sayles, of Oneida, Steven (Jessica) Bottini, of New Canaan, CT, and Samuel Bottini (Jillian Zick), of Saratoga; nine grandchildren, Kaylee (Connor) Rhodes, Tori Bottini, Steven Sayles, Andrew Sayles, Joseph Sayles, Sophie Bottini, Vivienne Bottini, Graylan Bottini, and Gianna Bottini; two great-grandchildren, Rosalie Rhodes and Stella Rhodes; a brother, Samuel (Mary Ann) Bottini, of Utica, two sisters, Diane Crimmins, of Utica, Valarie Rose, of Schaumburg, IL; a brother in law, Michael Kuroski of Utica; a sister in law Patricia Austin of Utica; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, beginning with a prayer service at 9:30 AM at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., followed by his Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church where the Rev. Christopher J. Ballard will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Robert "Tiny" Lane, IHS 1973 Known by everyone as a kind man with a huge heart, Robert E. Lane joined his heavenly father on February 16, 2024. He cared about everyone and would love that persona and sentiment to live on through all of us. He was born on July 30, 1955, in Herkimer, the son of Clifford J. and Mildred (Forlano) Lane. Bob graduated from Ilion High School in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1979, and was a proud Veteran. He rounded out his education with a Bachelors and Masters Degree from SUNY Tech Utica-Rome. He spent his career in public service with Herkimer Community College and SUNY Morrisville, as well as both Ilion and Frankfort Police Depts and various other jobs outside of his public service including Remington Arms Co., Heidelburg Bakery and Human Technology. He shared his love and knowledge of sports by coaching Pop Warner and track for many years. Surviving family members include his two sons, whom he shared with his previous wife of 20 years, Christine (Rowland) Lane, Robert E. Lane, II, of Glenmont NY, and Ryan Lane and his wife, Laura, of Dansville, NY; his brothers and sisters, Jackie Lane Foster and her husband, Sam, Carl Lane, Clifford Lane, Jr. and his wife, Donna, Theresa Lane Perry and her husband, Bob, Elaine Lane, Dorothy Lane Knapik and her husband, Paul, Marilyn Lane Kane and her husband, Ron, Anna Lane and Fred Beach, Tina Lane Dumaplin and her husband, Fred; his grandchildren, Nolan, Molly and Mason Lane; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Like a second family, he also leaves behind his friends and community from Stewarts and The Valley. Eleanor 'Ellie' (Smith) Riddell, IHS Alumnus 1953, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, NY. Born Eleanor Marie Smith on August 10,1935, she was the eldest daughter of Edwin and Gladys Smith. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Alfred and Francis; and three sisters, Ruth, Katherine, and Margery. Ellie is survived by her husband, Harold "Buck" Riddell; children, Judith (Darin) Schneider of St. Louis MO, Tracy (Robert) Miller of Fort Mill, SC, Scott (An) Riddell of Belmont NC, and Mary (David) Strafel of Charlotte NC; two cherished grandsons, John Miller of Georgia, and Luke Miller of Brooklyn, NY; a brother, Joseph Smith of Utica; many nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Steve (Amy) Tines and Robert Tines; special friends, Carol Bors, Carol Gollegly, Margaret Riddell, John and Madeline Stephenson, and Steve and Loretta Szczygiel. Ellie dedicated many years of her life to her role as a banker at Marine Midland Bank, where she served with dedication and kindness, touching the lives of countless customers. She enjoyed spending time with her family, lunching with her girlfriends, wintering in Myrtle Beach, going on adventures with the Stephensons and Szczygiels, gardening, and contributing to her community through her work and volunteer efforts. Roy Scott Waldron, IHS Alumnus, age 59, of Ferguson Road, passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday morning, February 15, 2024, with his loving wife, Sandy and family, by his side. He was born on January 9, 1965, in Ilion, the son of Joseph and Shirley (Truax) Waldron. Roy attended Ilion schools. He was a Veteran of our country, serving from 1983 until 1991, in the U.S. Army. On April 5, 1997, he was married to Sandra L. Budukiewicz, at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Ilion and enjoyed every moment of marriage with her. They have been attending New Life Church together, of Herkimer. Roy was employed in the Transportation Industry for well over thirty-five years, with his last place of employment at ERL Intermodal, Utica and other companies through the years. Roy's pleasant nature reflected upon all of us in an entirely positive manner. He always made us smile and would do just about anything to raise our levels of happiness. He was very patient, even when he did not have to be. One of the greatest memories ever bestowed upon us and especially to his grandchildren was his inventing of "The Cool Walk.":Surviving family members include his beloved wife, Sandy; his children, Amanda Marlowe, Christy Duncan, John Salek and Richard Salek (Jessica); nine grandchildren, Kay, Annalyse, Arabella, Logan, Lacey, Emma, Taraji, Reina and Skyler; his sister, Kimberly Klock (Jeff); his brother, Joseph Paul Waldron (Brenda J.); his half-sister, Kimberly Rosario; several uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carolyn and John Nownes. Patricia Ann (Runge) Jones, IHS 1965 passed away on Wednesday, February 7, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY. Pat was born in Ilion, NY on August 27, 1947, the daughter of Dorothy and Robert Phoenix Runge. After graduating from Ilion High School in 1965, Pat headed to Ithaca College for her Bachelor's degree in Education. It was there that she met Robert Jones, whom she wed May 1, 1971, at St Augustine's Church in Ilion. Pat spent her career at South Lewis Central School as a Speech Therapist. In her time there, she proudly worked with many in Lewis County and surrounding areas, helping multiple generations of students and families. While attending Syracuse University for her Master's in Education, Pat also worked as a mentor for newer teachers and enjoyed showing them the ropes. Pat loved being a Speech Therapist, so much so she had a personalized license plate "Thpeech." Pat enjoyed creating, sewing, cooking, and painting. She found joy with her most recent focus, embroidery for loved ones to commemorate special events. A long-time resident of Belle-Iles Place in Boonville, Pat treasured her home on the dead-end street and enjoyed the closeness of her neighbors. Pat loved all animals and spent little of her life without a cat. She especially had a soft spot for black cats. She built long lasting friendships. From planning Ilion High School reunions and meetups with the "Golden Bomber Girls" to the Lunch Bunch, Pat loved her friends. She was honest, and quick witted; her door was always open for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and a chat. She is survived by her husband Robert Jones, children Lindsay (Andrew) Hausman of Trumansburg, NY, and Sydney Jones of Wells River, VT, as well as her sister Melissa (Judd) Worden of East Berne, NY. She has three grand cats and one grand dog. Pat would often remark, "my grands have fur." Rev. Richard A. Waite, IHS 1970, age 72, a lifelong Ilion area resident, passed away suddenly on January 30, 2024 in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born on May 28, 1951, Richard was the son of the late Viola A. (Pfeifer) Waite. He was raised and educated locally. At one time he was married to the former Patricia Skelly. In 1982 he proudly enlisted with the United States Army and after his initial service, he joined the United States Naval Reserves and was a member of the Navy Seabees. He received his honorable discharge on November 6, 1998. Richard was a man of faith and proudly served as the Pastor of the People's Undenominational Church of Cedarville for many years. He is survived by a beloved son, Eric M. Waite, of Poland, NY. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors. Ruth R. Miller, IHS 1960, age 81, of North Street, Mohawk, passed away on February 5, 2024, at Wynn Hospital, with her devoted family at her side. She was born on May 11, 1942, in Herkimer, New York, a daughter of the late Fred and Millie (Stanley) Mix. She was a graduate of Ilion High School, Class of 1960. She was married to Ron Miller, Sr., on June 8, 1963 and he preceded her in death. Through the years, Ruth enjoyed gardening, bowling, camping, and Yahtzee. She was active in so many family functions and events and was an avid Wheel of Fortune watcher! She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her partner, Gary Snyder; her children, Sue Hale and her husband, Ralph, Ron Miller, Jr. and his wife, Karen and Rick Miller and his wife, Amy; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Dan, Nicky, Kaylee, Kenzie and Jake; her sister, Betty Johnson; her brother, Ed Briggs; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ron Miller, Sr.; her parents, Fred and Millie; and her sister, Marjorie Briggs. She was born in Ilion, New York on February 25, 1977, the daughter of the late Jack and Becky Upson Pierce She attended Ilion schools and later attended John Paolo's Extreme Beauty Institute, Syracuse, NY. She was married to Paul Grimes on December 31, 2022 in Ilion, NY. Renee was the owner and operator of Bella Damas Salon in Ilion for many years. Renee is survived by her beloved husband, Paul; four sons and one daughter in law, Christopher and his wife, Elizabeth Pierce of Ilion, Alexander Matthews of Mohawk, Dante Grimes and his companion, Nikkiah Rios of Rome and John Scalise of Ilion; three daughters, Izzetta Matthews, Tara Matthews and Marissa Matthews all of Ilion; two brothers, Rob and his wife, Kim Pierce of Seneca SC and Scott and his wife, Linda Pierce of Ilion; one sister, Megan Pierce of Richmond, VA.; her cherished grandchildren, Sylvanas Pierce, Celaenas Pierce, Artimis Pierce, Asher Grimes and Sirius Pierce and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert "Bob" Boucher, IHS 1951, age 92, of Boca Raton Fl, formerly of Ilion New York passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2024, surrounded by his family. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Alice Gour Boucher and daughter Ellen Middlebrooks (Joel) of Boca Raton. Bob is blessed with three grandsons; Nicholas of Virginia Beach, VA, Andrew of San Diego, CA, and Jonathan of Pensacola, Fl, sister in laws Nora Boucher of Ilion, NY, Joyce Collea of Utica and many special nieces and nephews. Bob is predeceased by his parents Leo Sr. and Lilla Boucher, and brother Leo Jr, of Ilion NY. He also leaves behind special friends of many years from the St. Lawrence River, Tom & Kay LaPuma, Frank & Ada Menapace & William Danale. Bob was born on August 26, 1931, in Claremont, New Hampshire. His family moved to Ilion, New York where he graduated from Ilion Central School System. He enlisted in the Navy in 1950 where he served as Radar Operator 2 on the USS Gainard and USS Stockham destroyers during the Korean War. As part of his service on the USS STOCKHAM, he completed an around the world cruise until his Honorable Discharged in 1954. He was united in marriage to Alice Gour, in 1956 and began his lifelong career in electronics, working for various national electronic manufacturers in central New York. Bob then pursued his passion for teaching Electronic Technology at Mohawk Valley Community College for 30 years and retired to Boca Raton in 1996. Bob and Alice have maintained their summer residence along the St Lawrence River in Chippewa Bay, New York and enjoyed many years of entertaining friends and family there. He spent much of his spare time restoring all types of vintage vehicles and watercrafts over the years. He was also committed to community service through years of active membership in Ilion's Junior Chamber of Commerce, and in VFW Post 502 in Ilion, and Post 10556 in Boca Raton. Bob, an avid boater, enjoyed his tenure in the Boca Raton Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-6. He was also a parishioner of Annunciation Church of Ilion, NY. Bob was always generous with his time to others, loved playing the guitar and harmonica at backyard parties, practical jokes and was a kind soul to all that were blessed to befriend him. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank Bobs' medical team; Dr. Nicolas Breuer, Dr. John Panos, Dr. Anthony Lee, Dr. John Motta, Dr. Debra Becker, Dr. Mark Block and the dedicated nursing staff at Boca Raton Regional Hospital for the compassionate care they've provided over the years. A Celebration of Life will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery on Friday, February 2nd, 2024, promptly at 09:30, Lane 3. Nancy M. (Ingro) Decker, IHS 1942, age 99, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023. Born in Ilion on February 18, 1924, Nancy was the daughter of the late Paul and Theresa Ingro. She had four siblings who preceded her in death, Cessaro Ingro, Sam Ingro, Mary Winslow and Mayme Franco. Nancy was married to the late Robert W. Moody in 1942, with whom she was blessed with four children. She later married the late Bruce Decker and together they had one daughter. Nancy moved from Ilion,NY to Ormond Beach, FL in 1971 where she worked for the Volusia County School System and Mario's Restaurant. She owned and operated a ceramic studio in Ormond Beach. She loved to cook and played tennis well into her 70s. Nancy was predeceased by her children, John Moody, Robert W. Moody, Jr., Linda Moody and Marilyn Decker. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Burch, of Holly Hill, Florida; her daughter in-law, Joanne Moody; 6 grandchildren - Barbara Moody Adler and her husband Larry, Patricia Burch McDonnell and her husband Colm, Michael Burch, Jay Moody and fiance Annie, Anthony Bonventre, and Heather Johnson; 4 great grandchildren, Kristin and her husband Carl, Brooke, Elliot, Lauren, Ross; and 1 great-great-grandchild - Olivia. A visitation for Nancy was held at the Pinello Funeral Home in Daytona Beach, Florida. Spring interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Ilion, where Nancy will be laid to rest with her children. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors. (January 30, 2024)
Richard William 'Dick' Capes, IHS 1971, 70, formerly of Ilion, NY passed away on January 24th, 2024 in Winston-Salem, NC, surrounded by his family. He was born April 8th, 1953 to Frank Capes and Alice (McLaughlin) Capes. He graduated from Ilion High School in 1971 and earned an Associate Degree from Herkimer County Community College. He retired in 2019 after working in the automotive industry for over 40 years, and he was always well-loved by his coworkers. An avid sports follower, he was an especially big fan of Wake Forest and Syracuse. He liked to spend his time working in the yard, building train sets, exploring state parks, and attending live music events. He visited his hometown of Ilion often, and while there he loved researching his family tree with his nephew Michael Capes and catching up with friends and family members at Ilion Days. He is survived by his daughters Kimberly Stenske, Kathryn Capes, Leighanne Capes, and Shannon Capes; grandchildren Malia Stenske, Sean Maggard, and Taylor Capes; sisters Frances Pellegrino, Mary Ekstrom, Mary Lupinski, and Verna Vandawalker; sister-in-law Nila Capes; and many nieces, nephews and cousins along with his beloved pets. He is predeceased by his parents; his step-mother Izetta Capes; his brothers George Capes, Edward Capes, and Jon Fifield; and brothers-in-law Vince Pellegrino, Michael Ekstrom, and Edward Vandawalker. The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at Forsyth Medical Center for their effort and compassion while he was in their care. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Stroke Association or your local humane society. In accordance with Richard's written wishes, no ceremony or memorial service will be held. A celebration of life will take place in Ilion, NY at a later date. John Thomas "Vince" Lester, IHS 1971 age 70, of Trenton, FL, died on January 10, 2024 after months of battling cancer. John was born in Ilion, NY to the late Thomas and Carolyn (Eysaman) Lester on February 19, 1953. He attended Ilion High School, graduating in 1971. He was a member of the wrestling and cross country teams. He was a proud Air Force veteran, serving from 1972 until his honorable discharge in 1976. He was married to Diane Youngblut from 1977 until her death in 2006. In 2017 he married Jimilyn Pendon who survives him along with his daughter Victoria (Thomas) Parrish, son John T. Lester II, siblings Barbara Lester, Thomas (Cathleen) Lester, Charles (Marion) Lester, Carol (Keith) Swart, David (Pamela) Lester and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Requiem Mass was held on January 17 at St. Madeleine Catholic Church in High Springs, FL. Memorial donations may be made to Haven Hospice via the beyourhaven.org website. (January 26, 2024)

Warren A. Reynolds, IHS 1953, age 90, passed away on January 5, 2024, at Brookdale Fillmore Pond in Bennington, VT. Born in Sangerfield, NY on August 31, 1933, he was the son of George B. Reynolds and Emma B. (nee Betszinger) Reynolds. He spent his early years at Raquette Lake, NY in the central Adirondack region. After his parents separated, Warren moved with his mother to Ilion, NY. Following graduation from Ilion High School, Warren enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. After completing 4 years of honorable service, he settled back in Ilion with his wife Charlotte (nee Gage) Reynolds where they raised their four children. Using The G.I. Bill, Warren pursued an engineering degree at Utica College, becoming both a mechanical and electrical engineer. His career included employment at General Electric, Cogar Corp., and PAR in Utica, and International Computers LTD, based both in Utica and Manchester, England. Although his professional career took him all over the world, Warren always longed to return to his beloved Raquette Lake. It was there, after deciding to leave the world of high-level engineering, that he and his second wife Elaine made a life. He established Reynolds Adirondack Maintenance (RAM) at Raquette providing plumbing, heating, and electrical contracting services to the many seasonal camps in the region. He also owned and managed several rental cottages on Raquette and Sagamore Lakes. He reveled in having his children and their families spend time at his Antler's cottage - free of charge. Once the snow got too deep in the Adirondacks, he retired to North Carolina to run a hobby shrimping and gillnet operation on Pamlico Sound. The constant theme throughout his life was a boat on some body of water. In his final years he and Elaine relocated to her hometown, Bennington, VT. Although Warren was an accomplished engineer having worked on projects such as the Gemini space program and complicated computing systems around the world, he was most comfortable in canvas pants and a wool shirt. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. His craftsmanship in woodworking, carpentry, plumbing, and any task where he could work with his hands, was renowned. Warren was predeceased by his parents George and Emma; his siblings George Reynolds, Mary Reynolds, Martha Bechard, and his first wife Charlotte Reynolds. In addition to his wife Elaine Sachau, he is survived by his children, Robert Michael Reynolds and wife Andrea of Manchester, ME; Joanne Reynolds-Bladek and husband Karl of Mohawk, NY; Karen Totaro-Reynolds and wife Tammy of Ilion, NY; Diane Reynolds-Yamano of Ilion, NY; Deborah Stanley of Raleigh, NC; Daniel Sachau of Glens Falls, NY; and Doreen Sachau of Bennington, VT. Grandchildren Jeremy Reynolds; Lindsey Dumais; Lelyned Bowley; Joki Wallace; Brianna Forbes-Silverstiein; Katie Marlowe; Gary Rende Jr.; Samantha Rende; Thomas Mayhew; Desire' Shiffer; Robert Stanley Jr.; and Jasmine Sachau. Warren is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Brookdale Fillmore Pond, Vermont Hospice, and In-Home Care Service for the wonderful way they treated Warren in his final days. They all went above and beyond and are very special people. Per Warren's request there will be no services. For those wishing to do something special in his memory: get out on the golf course, go hunting with a labrador retriever, wet a line fishing, run a trap line, take a crack at building some furniture, or simply sit on a back porch with a cocktail and watch as the sun sets after another beautiful day on this earth. Howard A. Archer II, IHS 1990, age 51 of Auburn and formerly Ilion, NY passed away, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at his home, due to complications from alcohol use disorder. He was born in Ilion, NY the son of the late Howard and Janet (Palmer) Archer. He is survived by children, a son Aidan, daughter Ashlyn Archer and sister Amy. Before this disease took hold of him, Howie loved his family and his life. Out of respect for his children, there will no calling hours or services at this time. (January 4, 2024)
