Patricia Entwistle Carney, IHS 1968 - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Jean Entwistle Carney, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. March 1950 - December 2020.
Carol L. Denison, IHS 1966, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday December 20, 2020. She was born on November 7, 1948 in Ilion, the daughter of Tuthill (Ted) and Marion (Edick) Denison. Carol worked for the Ilion School district until her retirement. She continued to dedicate her time to helping the district for many years after by, volunteering to work the polls at the local elections, working as a bus monitor and coming in on occasion when a position needed filling. She loved the job and she loved the people she worked with and made many lifelong friends that she considered family. Although she was never blessed with children of her own, she was always so grateful that she got to be an 'Auntie' at a very early age. She loved every one of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, and took great pride in spending as much time as she could with them. Eventually having to travel near and far, whether it be Connecticut, Arizona or everywhere in between, as they all grew and went on to have lives of their own. She would go there, just to get to spend one more day with them, as she was so happy to get to see as many of her great and great great nieces and nephews as she could. Being the children of one of Carol's younger siblings, she had a unique relationship with her nieces Sara Denison of Little Falls and Shannon (Denison) Stewart of Ilion. Carol was always proud of how close the girls were to her and how much of their lives they got to share with her and their grandmother, in the home the two resided in together, for most of their lives. Carol was an almost daily part in their lives, and continued to be an important part in the lives of Shannon's children, Fiona & Royal. She could often be seen at a school concert or in the bleachers at one of their games or just coming by to do a puzzle and spend the day. She cherished their time together and it was always worth it to see how happy it made her and to see how much it made her laugh and enjoy life. Carol had many friends that she enjoyed doing exciting things with, like traveling, shopping, dinners in and nights out. But she also enjoyed the simple things like long walks and sitting by the ocean. Once an avid bowler, she enjoyed participating in a bowling league. She also took great pride in her dedication to fund raising for 'Team Cassandra' for the Relay For Life. Carol was survived by three brothers, Gordon and wife Gale, Gary and wife Enola, all of Ilion, Keith of Arizona, and a sister-in-law Marie, of Ilion. She also leaves her beloved fur babies Sophie and Bella. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers James and Ronald and her nephew Billy. Carol's service will take place in the spring, at a time later to be announced, due to COVID concerns. Linda Kaye (Murray) Klink, IHS 1978, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 50 on Sunday, December 20, 2020 peacefully, with her husband Richard and her best friend Joanne at her side. Linda was born in Ilion on August 17, 1970 the daughter of the late Robert Murray and former Margery Wohler. She was raised and educated all her life in Ilion. She continued her education to be an LPN and was employed by New York State in DDSO group homes for the past 17 years. She worked till her cancer physically took it from her. Linda never had children but her love of her animals were her children especially her dogs, cats, bird and favorite of all Wilbur (Pig) the pot belly pig. She loved being a homebody and hostess enjoying her green thumb in the garden where she grew numerous plants especially roses. There were many good times spent around a bonfire or a video game. She is survived by her husband of 23 years Richard, her mother Margery Murray of Ilion, her brothers James Murray and his wife Theresa, Ilion, David Murray and his wife Therese, Ilion, Roger Murray and his wife Julia, NC, her best friend Joanne Sickler, special cousin Walter Maine and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her brother John Murray. In keeping with Linda's wishes there will be no formal services. Her friends and family will celebrate her life privately when our current health situation is safe to do so. Linda was a loving, caring, kind person with a big heart and will be missed by all those she touched. (December 31, 2020)
Robert "Bob" J. Smithson, IHS 1959, age 80, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital, New Hartford. In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no scheduled calling hours or services at this time, due to the current extreme COVID health risks. John Joseph Remis, IHS 1954, 86, husband of the late Janet H. Remis passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Gold Country Retirement Community in Placerville, CA. Born January 4, 1934 in Ilion, NY, he was the son of the late John Anthony Remis and Rachel Conover Remis. Both John and Janet grew up in the small village of Ilion, where they first met during grade school. Soon after high school, their love story began, one filled with beautiful memories shared throughout their 55 years of marriage. John worked for the Village of Ilion's municipal power division, in what was referred to as "the light department." Although he was dedicated to his career, family and faith always came first. Unwavering in his service to the Lord and his community, John was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of both the Knights of Columbus and Boy Scouts of America. He was the patriarch of the Remis family in every sense of the word, leaving behind a noble legacy for loved ones to continue. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Martin Paul Remis and wife, Parichat, of Hawaii, Mary Elizabeth Maynard and husband, William, of Quinby, VA, John Andrew Remis and wife, Vanessa Triscari-Remis, of Prince George, VA, David Brian Remis and wife, Karen, of Topsham, ME, Janet Rae Getman, of Pensacola, FL, and Ryan Christopher Remis and wife, Sarah, of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren; Whitney, Robert, Victoria, Kelli, Stephen, Serena, Amanda, Michaela, Jeffrey, Alexandra, Gwenyth, Jacob, and Clara; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving John are his sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Duane Allen of Saugerties, NY, as well as their children and families. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Michael, Charles Joseph, and James Remis. The family will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, in Onley, VA, followed by interment in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, were Mr. Remis will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife. Beverly A. (Williams) Doolen, IHS Alumnus, age 88, formerly of London Towers, Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, December 19, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Utica. She was born on March 10, 1932, in Utica, the daughter of Richard W. and Marion (Donohue) Williams and attended Ilion schools. She married George E. Doolen, in 1948 and together they had nine children. Beverly was blessed with the gift of music from her Irish Welsh heritage and she enjoyed singing. She attended the Presbyterian Church, in Ilion and sang in the choir for a time. During her last years, she resided at the Utica Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Utica. She is survived by her brother, Robert Williams (Pam), of Beaver Falls, NY; her children, including Edward Doolen, of New York Mills, Lester Doolen (Eleanor Jones), of Clark Mills, Christine Lamberson, of McKinney, TX, Albert Doolen, of Fort Plain, Patricia Ruller (Marty), of Utica and Barry Doolen, of Herkimer. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Beverly was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Betty Doolen; her brother, Richard Williams; granddaughter, Denise Doolen; and grandson, Chad Lamberson. There are no scheduled calling hours or funeral services because of the extreme risks of COVID 19, at this time. Spring burial will be held at the convenience of the family, at Grand View Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY. Benjamin Thomas Fletcher, IHS 1967, age 71 of Winter Garden, Florida, went home to our Lord on December 16, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Benjamin was born on November 4, 1949 in Ilion, New York, the son of Benjamin and Clydia (Hosler) Fletcher. He graduated from Ilion High School in 1967 and joined the US Navy. Benjamin proudly served his country aboard the USS America, CVA 66. His dedication to service continued as a firefighter, medic and Herkimer county deputy sheriff. He was a volunteer with the town of Colonie Fire Department and later the Van Hornesville Fire Department. He joined the Ilion Fire Department 1978. Affectionately known as "Fletch" and "Benji" he loved his time in the fire service and went on to retire as Deputy Chief of the Ilion Fire Department. Benjamin was also a New York state fire instructor. He earned numerous awards and certifications throughout his career. After retirement, he relocated to Winter Garden, FL and worked in security. He volunteered with the ESL and special needs ministries at church. Benjamin touched countless lives and leaves a legacy of Faith,patriotism and service. A beloved Dad, "Ampa" and friend, he will be missed by all. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and John Main, daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Ken Claiborne, beloved grandchildren, John Charles Main and Ryleigh Ann Claiborne, as well as brother and sister-in-law John and Bonnie Fletcher, sister Betty Johnson, special friend Karen Kriener and several niece and nephews. A celebration of life will be held January 9, 2021 in Winter Garden, FL with a firefighter service in the summer of 2021 in New York. (December 31, 2020)
Jeffrey Alan "Jeff" Wildey, IHS Alumnus, age 62, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away early Monday morning, November 9th, 2020 after being stricken at home; with his loving wife, Katherine, at his side. Jeff was born on December 6, 1957 in Ilion, son of the late James and Kathryn (LaPoint) Wildey and graduated from Ilion High School. On October 14, 1978, he was joined in marriage with the former Kathy Sedore in Ilion in the Ilion Methodist Church on 2nd Street; a loving, devoted and blessed union of forty-two years. Jeff worked at being a carpenter as his professional occupation. He at one time worked for Lahey's Home Improvement, Warren Cross, and later owned and operated his own construction business, JAW Construction, Ilion. An accomplished contractor, there wasn't anything Jeff couldn't do. He loved his NY Yankees and Miami Dolphins, but most of all, he loved his family and they meant the world to him. Jeff loved to work on old cars as a hobby and boating, fishing and hunting. Jeff leaves his loving wife of forty-two years, Katherine (Sedore) at home in Ilion; his son, who he worshiped, Michael Wildey and wife, Lena; his daughter, Julie Ann and husband David LaCelle, who was "daddy's little girl". Also surviving are his most cherished an loved grandchildren, Mercedes, Jeffrey, Isabella, Courtney, Margaret, Joseph and James, all of Ilion, Lexi and her husband Daniel, Ian all of Herkimer, Cerria, Johnny, Jamiee, Aydin and Andrew of Ilion; a great granddaughter, Veleria Mae. He also leaves his siblings Cathy Ingraham, James Wildey (Priscilla), Mary Tubia (Jim) and Lisa, all of Ilion and Brian Blake. He also leaves his stepfather, Garry Blake and is also survived by his sisters in law, Sharon, Barb and Rodney Smith, Linda Scott and Karla Jean, Tricia Davis and a brother in law, Don Sedore; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins and his faithful canine companion, Cara Ann. He was predeceased by his mother, Kathryn and father, James; his buddy an nephew, Dan Ingraham, his mother-in-law, Marge, and by his brothers in law and a few special friends. The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to Kelly, Jamie and Lisa Keeler for all of their kindness and compassion offered during this difficult time. Also, a heartfelt thanks to the EMT's and the NYS Troopers for their professionalism. In respecting Jeff's wishes, there are no public services. William F. "Bill" Pickett, IHS 1952, 87, son of Heenan and Ella (Whalen) Pickett, passed into eternal life on November 2, 2020 at Foltsbrook in Herkimer. In his younger years, he graduated from Ilion High School and served as an altar boy at the Church of Annunciation. He had a strong devotion to God and his religion. Bill worked most of his life at Remington Arms. He was a figure in the community, serving in local politics and he was instrumental in starting Pop Warner Football in the area. Everyone knew Bill. Bill married his high school sweetheart Shirley (Rasmussen) Pickett on June 23, 1956 and the two were inseparable for 64 years. He is also survived by three sons Billy of Farmington, NY, Jeff and his husband Tom of Hackensack, NJ and Andy of Ilion; a daughter Lisa Sweet and her husband Leigh of Canandaigua, NY; a sister Margaret Deptehereos of Watertown. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brothers Jack and Joe and a sister Mary. Bill will be remembered for the love and kindness that he gave to everyone in his life. A memorial mass for Bill will be held on Tuesday November 10, 2020 at 10:30 at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, Fr. Paul Catena will officiate. A graveside service will follow at the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. Friends may call on Monday November 9 from 2 to 4 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Christine Ruth (Hanson) Castle, IHS 1966, age 72, of Monument, Colorado passed away Monday, Oct 19 at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, CO with her family by her side. She is now with Jesus, her Savior and Lord that she dearly loved. She was born on March 14, 1948 in Ilion, NY where she graduated from high school and then attended Oswego State University, NY. Chris had many fond memories of spending her summer months as a child at her grandparent's farm in nearby Boonville, NY. In 1969 she married her longtime school friend, Steve, and together they were blessed with four children and seven grandchildren that were her pride, joy and the center of her life. She was a military spouse who gladly made many sacrifices as the family moved across the country with the United States Air Force. Chris was the ultimate volunteer serving as a girl scout leader, soccer coach, PTA member, teacher's aide, a missing child organization lead, youth soccer registrar and soccer tournament director at the United States Air Force Academy, Officers Wives Club member, treasurer for the Union Meadows Open Space committee and member of her church's vestry and hospitality committee. Chris personally made, collected and shipped thousands of Christmas stockings to soldiers on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan. She was recognized by the Armed Services and was awarded several flags that were flown over the battlefield. Some of her most prized possessions were the heartfelt thank you letters from the soldiers. Chris is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Hanson and Ruth Hanson. Chris is survived by her husband, Steve, of Monument CO, their four children and their spouses and grandchildren: Tom, Michaela and Callie Castle, Janis, Frank, Brianna and Kailey Ellsworth, Lisa, Frederick, Joshua, Rebecca and Elisabeth Stein, all from Colorado Springs; and Andrea, Mark and Payton Johnson of Pflugerville, TX; her sister, Joyce Hanson, of Malone, NY and her beloved Border Collies, Mia and Pippa, who watched over her and slept by her bedside during her final days. Chris was an active member of the St George's Anglican Church and dearly loved her church family. She had a life-long passion for beautiful and complex cross stitch patterns which she was still creating until her final days. Holidays and birthdays were Chris's favorite time of the year and there was no such thing as overdoing a special occasion. She loved to travel and visited all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and most of Western Europe. Her all time special places were Cinque Terre, Italy, the northeast coast of Maine and Canada, the Cotswold in England, Glenwood Hot Springs in Colorado, Rocky Mountain National Park when the elk were bugling and she insisted everyone should have Yellowstone National Park be on their bucket list. Chris loved soccer and attended well over a thousand games to include youth and high school soccer games sometimes in brutal Colorado weather conditions. But that never fazed her spirit if her children or grandchildren were playing. While living in England she became an avid Premier League Soccer and Liverpool fan. She traveled to numerous Men and Women World Cup Soccer games in Europe, the USA and Canada. But her most memorable experience was traveling across the Netherlands all dressed in orange as a crazy American supporting the Dutch National Team. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in Chris's honor be made to AnySoldier (www.anysoldier.com) which supports our deployed soldiers in harms way. Sally A. (Day) Bogardus, IHS 1957, age 81 passed away on Saturday October 17, 2020 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse. Sally was born March 16, 1939 in Ilion the daughter of the late Stanley and Marion (Johnson) Day. Sally was a graduate of the Ilion High School class of 1957. She united in marriage to George E. Bogardus on November 26, 1971 in Ilion. She was employed for many years by MDS in Herkimer as a Quality Control Inspector. Sally is survived by her husband of 49 years George, a son Brad Bruce, FL, two brothers Donald Day of Ilion and Charles "Boots" Day of St. Louis, MO., a sister Doneta Sporney, VA., two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son Brian Bruce, brothers William and Darrell Day and sisters Esther LeClair and Arleta Day. Funeral services at this time are private and at convenience of the family. Ronald J. Hodom, IHS 1973 - "Hodie", age 66, lifelong resident of Ilion and most recently of East Clark Street, passed away, on Saturday, October 10, 2020, with his family at his side in St. Luke's Campus of the MVHS, New Hartford, following an illness. Ron was born on March 5, 1954, in Ilion, the son of the late John C. and Anne Dedla Hodom and was a graduate of Ilion High School. He was employed with Empire Recycling, Utica, as a truck driver and at one time co-owned the Pizza Plus, Little Falls. Earlier in his career, Ron drove for Richard Obreza Trucking, Mohawk. He enjoyed the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting. Ronald loved riding his motorcycle, playing pool, partying and had a great appreciation for music. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Deforrest, his son, Vaughn Hodom; daughter, Emilie Hodom with her companion, Zachary Sweet and his grandson, William Sweet. Ronald is also survived by his brothers and sister-in-law, Mike and Barb Hodom and Mel Hodom; nieces, Kimberly Hodom Koscinski and her husband John, Jr., and Marianne Hodom Boyce and her husband, Ray; his great nieces and nephews, Skylar Koscinski, John Koscinski III and Samantha and A.J. Charan, Raymond Boyce, and Robert Boyce. He was predeceased by his brother, John Hodom and his sister-in-law, Joan Hodom. In keeping Ron's wishes, cremation will occur with a future memorial service at the convenience of the family. William G. "Simple Man" LaCelle, IHS Alumnus, age 61, of Polly Miller Road, died at home on October 13, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Born on January 10, 1959 in Ilion, William was the son of the late Edward and Marjorie (Emmons) LaCelle, Sr. He received his education in Ilion schools and was employed as a mechanic at C. P. Craska Trucking for several years. Bill also worked in the maintenance department at Catholic Charities of Herkimer County. William was an avid NASCAR and Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed demolition derbies, deer hunting, playing pool and pitch games. Survivors include his five children, Jessica Johnson of Ilion, Janessa LaCelle, of Gloversille, Justin LaCelle (fiancé, Brittany Makohen) of Mohawk, and Jill (Jacob) Coffin and Jasmine LaCelle, all of Ilion; his wife, Shannon (Loomis) LaCelle and step-children, James and Jennifer Loomis, all of Ilion; one brother, Edward "Sonny" LaCelle, Jr. of Jordanville; three sisters, Sharon (Tom) D'Auito of Rome, Lori (Randy) Coffin of Ilion and Lisa (Greg) Seifried of Schuyler; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Bruce LaCelle; and a niece, Kimmy LaCelle. In accordance with Bill's wishes there will be no calling hours or formal funeral. Theodore C. (Ted) Remonda, IHS 1958, age 80, passed away Sunday October 11, 2020 at his residence. Ted was born in Ilion on February 1, 1940 the son of the late Charles and Genevieve Ash Remonda and was a graduate of Ilion High School and MVCC. Ted served with the N. Y. State Police and after his retirement he held various positions with the ARC, FEMA, Herkimer County Sheriff's Department and taught security courses at BOCES. On June 22, 1996 he was united in marriage with Patricia Palmer. He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter in law Todd C. and Ashley and their children Dylan, Dallas and Creed of Cape Coral, Fl., his stepchildren Jason, Joshua and Chad Darrow, Gretchen Wilson and Megan Foote. He also leaves his step grandchildren Cameron, Lexi, Ricky, Jordan, Morgan, Connor, Kain, Lachlan and Ashton and a special sister in law Mary Palmer. Funeral services will be Friday, October 16, 2020 at 7:00 PM from the First Baptist Church, 555 Albany St. Little Falls with Pastor Christopher Wintermute officiating. Friends may call at the church from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Newport Cemetery at 10:00 AM Saturday. Willis Lansing Hitchcock, IHS 1942, passed away peacefully at 96 years old on October 7, 2020 at the Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina, Ohio. He was the son of Catherine Hitchcock Goering and Willis Hitchcock, born February 11, 1924. Willis was adored by his paternal grandparents. He was raised in Ilion and attended Ilion High School. Willis served his country as a Combat Veteran in the 6th Marine Division during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Following his dedicated service, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy New York. Bill had a successful career in engineering retiring from B.F. Goodrich Corporation. Willis was also a Mason. He spent most of his adult life in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and later Medina, Ohio. Willis was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Marion Benedict Hitchcock, brothers Douglas and Robert Hitchcock and sisters, Jeanette Richway and Gertrude Tangora. He is survived by his loving daughter, Leslie, his brother Gerald (Deb) Hitchcock, his sisters, Barbara Noffer and Elisabeth (Lawrence) DelGrego, sister-in-law Irene Hitchcock and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dear friends from the Medina Country Club who were in every way his Ohio family. Over the 96 years, there are many memories of Bill. We will reflect fondly on: our family historian, the man who took forever to make a decision, for always bringing donuts, his dry sense of humor, his love of the Adirondacks and his fondness for golf and the friendships formed at the club. Elaine Sue (Fischer) Luther, IHS 1969, age 68, of 14 McKinley Avenue, Dolgeville, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 5, 2020, at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY, with her family by her side, after an extended illness. She was born on October 6, 1951, in Ilion, NY and was the daughter of the late John (Jack) and Audrey (Jarvis) Fischer. Elaine was educated at Ilion High School and graduated with the Class of 1969. She attended Hudson Valley Community College. She was united in marriage to Gary C. Luther on July 9, 2011 at the United Lutheran Presbyterian Parish Church, Dolgeville, NY. Elaine formerly worked at the HARC, Herkimer, NY, for 10 years as a secretary and retiring several years ago. Elaine volunteered for numerous community groups, including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts-Dolgeville Troop 18, the Dolgeville Food Pantry and Preschool Playhouse. Elaine loved her church and was a faithful member of the United Luther Presbyterian Parish, Dolgeville. Elaine enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her smile and care for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Elaine is survived by her beloved husband, Gary C. William (Billy) A. Wood, IHS Alumnus, 57 of Ilion, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. Billy was born on January 7, 1963 the son of Harley and the late Amelia (Lolio) Wood. He was educated in the Ilion schools. He was a long-time employee of View Paving and worked in all aspects of the black top and paving. On November 10, 1990, he was united in marriage to the former Tammy Hawkins. Billy enjoyed anything that had to do with the outdoors. His favorite things were riding his Harley Sportster, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. Most of all, time spend with his babes is what he cherished the most. Billy is survived by his wife, Tammy, and his daughters, Kassidy Webster and her boyfriend Carl Latella of Ilion, Shellby Wood and her boyfriend Daniel Medeiros of Bridgewater; his father Harley; brothers, Dennis Wood and his fiance Shelva of Ilion, Ike Wood and his wife Bev of Ilion; his grandchildren, Sophia Medeiros, Aubrianna and Michael Webster and Camaire Latella along with many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He had a couple of special friends, Mike Johnson and Crimmy that gave him comfort. He is predeceased by his mother, Amelia and a brother, Anthony John "Tony" Wood. Deborah Ann (Trombley) Murray, IHS 1973, 65, of Ilion, NY passed away peacefully, on September 30, 2020, at the Siegenthaler Center, in New Hartford, NY with her family by her side. Deborah was born on January 14, 1955, to Theodore Trombley and Ruth (Rivers) French. A lifelong resident of Ilion, NY, Deb married Brian Murray, also of Ilion, on May 19,1979, at Annunciation Church. Deb was a graduate of Annunciation Catholic School, Ilion High School, and Utica College. She worked as a medical technologist for Centrex Labs for many years. Deb was an avid reader and lover of science fiction who also enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards with friends, traveling, watching cooking shows and making food for friends and family. Her witty sense of humor will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Brian; daughters, Theresa, Janice, and Gail; two grandchildren, Gerrit and Ian; her sister, Kathleen Robertson and her husband, Stewart and family; her mother-in-law, Eloise Murray; her sister-in-law, Linda Trombley and family; and in-laws, Pam Murray, Fran Murray and Art & Mary Collis. Robert Owen Pelletier, IHS 1974, age 64, passed away on September 28, 2020. He was the husband, best friend and love of Mary (Roberts) Pelletier. They had grown up together in that friendship and love from the time they were young teens and it was the bedrock of the life they built together. Bob was born on April 23,1956, and grew up in Ilion, NY, the son of the late Alton and Inita (Sexton) Pelletier and youngest brother of William Pelletier (wife Kathryn) and Elizabeth (Pelletier) Backus who predeceased him. He was a proud Navy veteran, having served as an ET-1st class on the U.S.S. Fulton out of New London, CT for the majority of his assigned military service. He honored his fellow veterans working with them as a member of the Naugatuck American Legion Post #17 and proudly marched with his brothers in service at every opportunity. Bob was a dedicated member of the Congregational Church of Naugatuck and served as Treasurer and all around fix-it person. His church was truly an extension of his family. He loved them dearly and showed God's love in service to them. His career in engineering started in the Navy and later focused on Process Controls at Arnold's Bakery in Greenwich, CT. He later joined Nutmeg Electric in Naugatuck and then Avanceon from which he retired to support and care for his youngest child, Zelda, through health issues and later her transition. Besides his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Bob is survived by his three children: Kristin (and her partners Jaime and Kris) of Salem, MA, Lauryn (and her husband Jonathan) of Middletown, CT, and Zelda of Naugatuck, CT. He was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren: Owen, Elena, and Gabriel. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barbara (Williams) Roberts, and predeceased by his father-in-law Tegid Roberts. He will be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, siblings-in-law, and his adopted UWP family. The family is so very grateful for the love, prayers, and support of friends, Mary's co-workers at Key Human Services and especially Mary's sister Liz Laura and her sons Adam, Ryan and Jonathan for walking with them through this devastating time. Deborah Leigh (McGrade ) Sterling, IHS 1976, age 64, of Herkimer, New York, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday September 24, 2020. Deb was born on September 18, 1956, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Edward McGrade and the late Marilyn (Warren) McGrade. Deb was raised in Ilion, NY and graduated from Ilion High School, in 1976. Deb was a member of the Catholic faith and studied with several local Bible study groups. Deb is survived by her husband, Dennis Sterling, of Herkimer NY; her stepmother, Patricia McGrade, of Hendersonville NC; her sisters, Barbara Scanlan, of Fairport NY and Christine Flint and her husband, Paul Flint, of Ilion NY; her brother, Edward (Randy) McGrade, of Little Falls NY; her nieces, Christie (Flint) Brown, of Rome NY, Mary Caitlin (Scanlan) Wight, of Fairport NY and Sarah McGrade, of Herkimer NY; her nephews, Benjamin Flint, of Herkimer NY, Johnathan Scanlan, of Dayton OH and Corey Flint, of Ilion NY; her bothers-in-law, Robert Sterling and his wife, Nancy (Warmuth) Sterling and Randy Sterling and his son, Michael Sterling; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Michael E. Dauback, IHS 1990, passed from this life peacefully with his family surrounding him on September 21, 2020, at the age of 49. He was born in Herkimer, New York on July 19, 1971, to Francis Dauback and Cynthia Hight. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mervyn and Nellie Hight; and his uncle, John Hight. He is survived by his loving wife, Stella Dauback; his sons, Michael Dauback Jr., Thomas Dauback, Zachariah Dauback, Christopher Evans (stepson), and Joseph (Lori) Sada (stepson); his daughter, Hannah Dauback; his mother, Cynthia Hight; his father, Francis Dauback; his grandchildren, Azaria, Adrina, Braeden, Justin, and Kayla; great grandson Jaxon; his uncles, Mervyn Hight Jr., John (Heather) Hight and Roger (Pat) Dauback; his mother-in-law, Rosie Leal; his brother and sister in-laws, Albert (Victoria) Riojas, Sylvia (Isias) Zambrano, and April Carranza; and numerous cousins and friends. Michael was a retired and decorated veteran from the United States Air Force, serving his country for over 23 years, he later earned his Ph.D. from Grand Canyon University and became an educator. Michael was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord, he was a mentor and friend to many people in which his life crossed paths with. Michael loved to fish, he was a wrestling champion and loved spending time with his loved ones enjoying a good game of football. Nancy Lee Caruso, IHS Alumnus, age 42, of Ilion, New York, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, September 17, 2020. Nancy was born on January 10, 1978, in Ilion, a daughter of the late John Caruso and Margaret (Moore) Gray. She lived most of her life in Ilion and was a graduate of Ilion High School. Nancy was a member of the Catholic faith. She had worked with the Herkimer Area Resource Center as well as the House of the Good Shepherd. Nancy is survived by her partner, Gary Brooker, of Schuyler Lake; her stepfather, William Gray, of Frankfort; her brothers, Joe Javitz and his wife, Kimberly, of Mohawk, and John Javitz and his wife, Debbie, of Ilion; her sister, Wanda Javitz, of North Carolina; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Gray; and her father, John "Schnaps" Caruso. Nancy loved life and all it has to offer us and enjoyed many things, particularly the New York Giants Football team, but she especially cherished the time spent with her family. She had the biggest heart of gold and deep down was a very loving person. She loved to be with her partner Gary and just absolutely adored her cats too! We will miss her and hold her memory dear to our hearts. Ella Dyme Hammond (Momberger) Hammond, IHS 1944 - It is with a sad heart, that we announce the passing of Ella Dyme (Momberger) Hammond, 93, of Ilion, on September 11, 2020. She loved her Lord Jesus, her family, friends and her country. She was born on December 17, 1926, in Ilion, the daughter of William J. Momberger and Ella Dyme (Bennett) Momberger. Ella attended Ilion schools and graduated from Ellis Hospital Nursing School, in Schenectady and obtained an R.N. degree. She married Donald Walter Hammond, on August 16, 1948 and was married for 68 years. She served as a registered nurse for many years and retired from Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, in Ilion, where she worked as a night supervisor. Ella was a member of the St. Augustine's Episcopal Church and its Guild, in Ilion and the Eastern Star. She was also a long time member of the Cedar Lake Club and spent her summers there as a child. Ella enjoyed music, playing piano, visiting family and just helping others. Surviving family members are 3 daughters, Christine Marrone-Dengler and her husband, Chris, of Syracuse, Margaret Frances Staulters and her husband, Ricky, of Galway, NY and Ella Dyme Cointot and her husband, Steve, of Lafayette, LA; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jon Momberger and his wife, Gay, of Apopka, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased by her husband, Don; her son, Christian; 3 brothers, William, Paul and Alan; and her son-in-law, Gary Marrone. She was a wonderful wife, mom, sister and friend. Ms. Deborah A. 'Debbie' (Doty) White, IHS 1971, 67, of Granger, passed away unexpectedly at Elkhart General Hospital on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 7:10 pm. She was born in Herkimer, NY on March 22, 1953 and was the daughter of the late Lawrence "Pete" Doty and Jo Ann (Shultz) Doty, who survives her in Ilion, NY. Also surviving is her daughter Carly (Thomas "TJ") Hixon of Elkhart; siblings Donna Doty of Stuart, FL, Karen (Steven) Doty-Clark and Stephen (Deborah) Doty, both of Ilion, and Anita (Kenneth) Doty-Forney of Honeoye Falls, NY; grandchildren Jaxon and Aubrey Hixon and step-grandchildren Thomas and Ashton Hixon of Elkhart; nieces and nephews Brent (Kate) Grygiel of Harrison, ME, Matthew Clark of Portsmouth, NH, and Sarah and Megan Forney, both of Honeoye Falls; former spouse and father to Carly, Stephen White of Henderson, KY and a host of loving extended family, work associates, and good friends. She loved to teach and spent over 20 years with the Penn-Harris-Madison School System at Discovery Middle School as Teacher, Librarian, and Chair-Person of the Ski, Tennis, and Craft Clubs as well as POMS. She also taught a Japanese Culture Enrichment class during the summer. She was very artistically talented and enjoyed doing all sorts of home décor crafts as well as being the "go-to" girl at school for all of the bulletin boards. Deborah also loved traveling, having visited Europe and lived in both Japan and Iceland. She also loved road-tripping with her Mom, Jo Ann, through Florida and the South, and traveling with her sister in the RV headed to the Outer Banks. In fact, she was actively trying to pass her taste for adventure on to her grandchildren; especially Jaxon, who was often her "co-pilot" until Aubrey came along, then the adventures took a sharp turn into the kitchen. She also enjoyed watching Jaxon play hockey, and, as his number one fan, she never missed a game. Debbie loved animals and spending quiet time reading. She was also known for taking a trip or two to the casinos, working on all of her art projects, and doing a bit of amateur photography when the mood struck her. She was also raised in a Masonic family and she was a Triangle Girl for many years during her youth. Warm, endearing, and eager to pass on knowledge from generation to generation, Deborah will be best remembered for her dedication to education and love she displayed to her family, friends, and students. He was born on August 17, 1943, in Ilion, the son of George Thomas and Flora Durss Jones. He was a graduate of Ilion High School, Class of 1961. Brian went on to receive his bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego. He then received his Master's degree in Education from SUNY Albany and later received his Master's degree in communications from Syracuse University. Brian proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. On July 10, 1984, Joe was united in marriage to Winnie Jo James in Oneida. Brian was employed as a salesman for AT&T in Syracuse for over twenty years. Brian had a passion for wrestling. He was a college wrestler for SUNY Oswego and continued to promote the sport throughout his life. Surviving besides his loving wife of thirty-six years, Winnie; are five children, Brian Jones, of Atlanta, Sean (Jennie) Jones, of NYC, Ryan Jones, of Raleigh, NC, George Jones, of Oneida, and Jessica Jones, of Utica; four grandchildren, Anthony, Addison, Mason, and Nova; a brother, George Thomas "PeeWee" Jones, of Herkimer; and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by a sister, Noreen Jones, and a brother, Morgan Jones. Jane (Russell) Nile, IHS 1950 - Earth's loss became heaven's gain on September 5, 2020, when Jane Russell Nile, 88, of Santa Cruz, California, went to be with the Lord! Jane was born on June 22,1932, in Ilion, New York, to Benjamin and Leila Russell. She was predeceased by her younger siblings, Peggy Daly Williamson and Benjamin A. Russell. Jane married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Herbert Nile, of Ilion, on May 16,1953. While raising three daughters, in 1967, she enrolled at Mohawk Valley Community College to study nursing and later graduated from Syracuse University, in 1976, with an M.S.N. degree. As a nurse, Jane worked at Mohawk Valley Hospital, co-founded Ilion's first nursing home, and taught nursing at Hartwick College, in Oneonta, New York. With her optimistic and vibrant personality, developmental fund raising was the next frontier. Jane began fundraising, at Hartwick, and later became Director of Development at Rochester Medical Center. She then transitioned to Albany Law School, where she raised over $11 million to build the new Albany Law School Library. Jane relocated to Santa Cruz, California, in 1991, to be near her three daughters and their families. There, she worked as a nurse case manager for several years, finally retiring at age 75. The love she had for life was only surpassed by her devotion to God and family. Jane wrote personalized songs for her grandchildren and sang each one to them the day they were born. She was very proud of her Welsh heritage, and loved to recite Welsh poems, sayings, and songs. Jane was a natural piano player and singer and shared it by teaching her children and grandchildren to make music. Tennis, bridge, travel and photography were among her many passions. She had a gift for making people feel special and loved, keeping in close contact with her friends and family all her life. Jane is survived by her children: Lynn M. Nile, MD (Gregory Linkowski, MD), Peggy N. Albrecht, MD (John) and Jane N. Keller (Michael); her grandchildren, who knew her as "Shannie," include Kara Nile Douglas (Andrew), David Gregory Linkowski (deceased in Oct., 2002), G. Samuel Linkowski, Benjamin Nile Albrecht, Jacob Russell Albrecht, and Katherine Jane Keller; Great-grandchildren include Andrew and Ella Douglas. Lori A. (Carr) Fresco IHS 1987, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Heathcare, Town of New Hartford, New York. She was born on May 10, 1969, in Little Falls, New York, a daughter to Mary (Carr) and attended Ilion schools. On August 6, 1994, she was united in marriage to Anthony P. Fresco, Jr. The couple had shared 26 years of marriage together. Gary Robert "Biggens" Brewer, IHS 1965, age 73, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his residence. Gary was born in Ilion, NY to Robert and Helen Brewer. He was child three of four, having two older sisters: Joyce Adams (Tom) and Carol Crossman (Bob) and younger sister Karen Conterras (William). Gary grew up active and always on the go, you could most likely find him running the town, ice skating, and playing and hunting in the swamp with his neighborhood posse. His prideful first jobs consisted of working at Lovier's Dairy and his daily paper route. He graduated from Ilion Highschool in 1965 where he excelled in bowling, football and drive-in movies. Gary was drafted into the United States Army in early 1966. In 1967 his daughter Wendy was born. Gary served in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968 during the Tet Offensive as a Specialist 5 Sergeant 32 F20 Crypto. Upon return from Vietnam, Gary was stationed at Fort Myer, Va with duty station being at the Pentagon in Washington DC carrying out classified duties for Generals: Westmoreland and Abrams and Ambassador Bunker until honorably discharging in 1969. Gary than began college life while bartending at Crossways Tavern. He earned an Associate of Applied Science at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY in 1972. He earned his Electrical Engineering degree at the University of NewYork at Buffalo, ETA KAPPA NU. Gary Married the love of his life, Sherrie (43 years) in 1975 in Newfane, NY. He began his engineering career in 1975 at Great Lakes Carbon in Niagra Falls, NY. In 1979 Gary accepted an electrical engineering position at Owens Corning Fiberglass bringing him from New York to Anderson, SC where his two sons, Micah and Matthew were born. He later transferred and moved to the Atlanta, GA plant and then his third and final stop at the Aiken, SC plant where he remained until retirement after 26 years of service as the Plant Maintenance Superintendent of AGY. Gary went on to work as a financial advisor for Thrivent Financial for 10 years before retiring for good in 2015. He was a member of St James Lutheran Church in Graniteville, SC since 1986. Gary was an amazing family man and wonderful son, brother, husband, dad, grandfather, friend, worker and man. He was bighearted, charismatic, fun loving, outgoing, adventurous, supportive and wise. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, loving and enjoying natures beauties; exploring, hunting, fishing, rafting and camping. He was a jack of many trades, Mr get it done. Gary enjoyed a good poker game, western and war movie, cigar, a little trouble making and anything chocolate. Gary was genuine and authentic, he was very involved, impactful and beloved and will truly be missed, but his memory and legacy lives on. Surviving are his sons, Micah Brewer (MaryAnn) and Matthew Brewer (Rainee); daughter, Wendi Farhi; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen and his wife Sherrie. Ms. Kathleen Ann (Gogol) Mooney, IHS 1970 - Suddenly, Friday, August 21, 2020 at age 67 went home to be with her parents, Ludwig and Betty Gogol; brother, Michael Gogol. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Thomas Mooney; her devoted daughters, Kelly (Jack) Palmeri and Kassandra Maxim; pride and joy, grandchildren, Luciana, Brady, Alessandra and Maverick; siblings, Susan Chamberlin, Paul (Janet) Gogol and Arlene (Phil) White; many loving nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Kathleen was a retiree of the Greece Central School District where she taught for 34 years. She taught kindergarten through sixth and loved her students as if they were her own. Ms. Julie M. Leonard, IHS 1981, age 57, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, August 19, 2020 after an extended illness. Her passing occurred at the Grand at Mohawk Valley, where she received compassionate and heartfelt care during her last months. Born on May 21, 1963, Julie was the daughter of the late Howard and Fay (Mabbett) Leonard. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate from Ilion High School. She also attended Herkimer County BOCES and was a NYS licensed beautician. Julie worked for many years as a Teacher's Aide for the Ilion Central School District where she was passionate about the well-being of the students whose lives she was able to touch throughout her career. Julie was also passionate about her work with grief support and therapy; she wrote books pertaining to her experiences with grief and surviving after the loss of a loved one. She also facilitated grief support groups throughout the years. Julie was predeceased by her two beloved children, Rhiannon Boyer and Dustyn Boyer; her parents, Howard and Fay; as well as her brother, Kevin Leonard. She is survived by her brothers, former Mayor of Ilion, Terry Leonard and his wife, Linda, of Ilion, and Aaron Leonard and his wife, Irka, of Los Angeles, CA; her sisters, Sally Pugia and husband, Ralph of Longs, SC , and Robin Brandon and husband, Keith, of Middleburg, FL; her sister-in-law, Sandy Leonard of Long Island; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Capt. Glenn Smith, USN, Ret., IHS 1968 Valedictorian, age 70, died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at the family cottage at Oteyokwa Lake in Pennsylvania. Glenn was born to Marcus and Martha Smith on February 1, 1950 in Morristown, NJ. He graduated as Valedictorian of Ilion High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from RPI in 1973. He joined the Navy Civil Engineer Corps as an Ensign in 1973 and retired as a Captain, after 24 years, in 1997. During that time, he earned several medals, was the Executive Officer (XO) of NMCB 40, and earned a Master's of National Strategy from the National War College in 1995. Glenn then became the Director of Facilities at Bryn Mawr College for 19 years, retiring in 2018. He was an active member of APPA (an organization supporting Leadership in Educational Facilities). In the Navy, Glenn was a pioneer in Total Quality Leadership, and continued his role as Leadership trainer in APPA for the next 20 years. Throughout his years in the Navy, at Bryn Mawr, and as a part of APPA, he was known as a true leader who was kind and generous, often described as "an officer and a gentleman." He was a lifelong student of leadership skills, mentoring men and women in every job assignment. He demonstrated his leadership skills as president of the local and international APPA organizations. Glenn was a man of wide-ranging interests. His love of track and field grew from his time as a high hurdler in high school and college. He followed the sport closely throughout his life. For each transfer for Navy assignments, Glenn planned the cross country moves, arranging for his family to see as many aspects of America as he could fit into the trip. This love of travel continued throughout his life. A card-carrying Roller Coaster Enthusiast, he and his family rode roller coasters from coast to coast. A member of the Music Box Society, he and his wife Sue have a small collection of antique music makers. Their favorite, a player piano, will continue to provide hours of fun and entertainment for family and friends alike. For many years he played the baritone horn in the Marple Newtown Community Band. Aside from his faith and family, his biggest passion was cycling. He was a member of the Media Cycling Club and was a strong, competitive rider admired by all. Glenn enjoyed working with wood, making, amongst other things, a beautiful cherry dining table, and his final project with Sue, a wooden kayak named "Grace." He was a faithful member of Springton Lake Presbyterian Church. Most important to Glenn was his family. He was a deeply loving and playful husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his parents, Marcus (97) and Martha (98) Smith, who survive him, as does his mother-in-law Ann Patterson (96). His wife of 48 years, Susan Patterson Smith, and his four children, Michael (Justine) Smith, Kathryn (Justin) Meeks, Tina (Jason) Horn, and Peter (Niff) Smith, will dearly miss him. His eight grandchildren - Noah, Riley and Madeline Horn; Elsa, Liliana, Larsen, and Juniper Meeks; and Alden Smith - will miss his laughter and love. He is also survived by his three sisters, Marcia (Doug) McCoy, Gail Krueger, and Maureen (Craig) Cashman and many nieces and nephews. A private family memorial will be held September 12 at Springton Lake Presbyterian Church, led by Pastor Rick Marshall.  Warren Lennox Class of 1958 Warren T. Lennox, IHS 1958, 80 of Ilion, passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, with his loving wife by his side. Warren was born on July 12, 1940 in Utica, the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Robertson) Lennox. Warren was a 1958 graduate of Ilion Schools and a 1962 graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy. On December 18, 1982, he married the former Sharon Stevenson in Ilion. In 1963, at the age of 22, he bought Horton's Drug Store in Ilion and merged with Mulvey's Pharmacy in 1969. In 1971, his brother Bill joined him to form Lennox Brothers Pharmacy in Ilion. Warren retired from the business in 2009. He was director of Mohawk Valley Savings and Loan, and a 25-year member of the Ilion Board of Education, serving as president for 20 years. He was a 50 plus year member and treasurer of the Armory Hill Cemetery, an elder and treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion and a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge for over 50 years. Warren was an avid golfer and sports fan, always supporting his favorite teams, The New York Giants and Rangers, the Atlanta Braves and Syracuse University. Warren is survived by his loving wife Sharon; two daughters Dana Lennox-Tate of Greenville SC, Kristin Lennox-Fahey of Ilion; a stepson Steve Billings and his wife Amy of Dolgeville; two brothers David and his wife Patricia of Erie PA and William and Barbara of Ilion; five grandchildren Joshua and his wife Meghan Appley, Karlee Tate, Michael Fahey, Joseph Tate and Ainsley Billings. He also leaves his many close golf and poker buddies. He was predeceased by a brother Rodney. Funeral services for Warren are private. Mary E. Crossett, IHS 1967, age 71, of Derry Twp., PA, formerly of Ilion, NY, passed away on August 7, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 6, 1949 in Binghamton, NY, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Minon) Crossett. After high school, Mary attended and graduated from S.U.N.Y Morrisville, NY and Upper Division College in Utica, NY. She was employed in the field of production and quality assurance management for several large pharmaceutical companies. After retiring, Mary relocated to the Hershey area to be near family and while here she enjoyed volunteering at the Mohler Sr. Center and attending Church of the Holy Spirit in Palmyra. Mary is survived by; sisters, Anne Shadis and Carol Hanna; a brother, Richard (Linda) Crossett as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Hilda Mae (Smithson) Wright, IHS 1942, age 98 of Ilion, passed away on Friday August 7, 2020 at The Grand in Ilion. Hilda was born on March 10, 1922 in Ilion, she was the daughter of, the late Clarence and Cora (Burns) Smithson. She was a graduate of Ilion Schools and work at UNIVAC as an assembler, until her retirement. On April 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harry Wright, in the Ilion United Methodist Church. Harry passed away in February of 1975. She was and active member of the Ilion United Methodist Church and the Ilion Home Bureau. Hilda is survived by her two sons James and his significant other Lois Arndt of Mohawk and Dennis and his significant other Patty Hendrix of Ilion. Her grandchildren; Lisa and Jim Frank, Heather Lombardo, Holly and Jared Sipes, Preston Wright and Craig Wright and five great grandchildren. Carl Edward Marhaver, IHS 1971, age 67, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020, on Amelia Island, Florida, his home since 2014. Carl was born in Ilion, New York, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. An analytical thinker and problem solver who loved a tough challenge, Carl built a long and successful career in refining, business development, and operations management, primarily with Koch Industries, Inc. in Wichita, KS, Pine Bend, MN, and Atlanta, GA. Carl retired as President of Georgia-Pacific Packaging Division in 2014 and led an Executive leadership consulting practice with Marhaver Associates, LLC, until his death.Carl is survived by his wife, Robin Ferst Marhaver, of Amelia Island; daughters Kristen Marhaver (Mark Vermeij) of Willemstad, Curacao and Kelly Marhaver Klempay (Corbett Klempay) of Austin, TX; their mother Jill Marhaver of Apple Valley, MN; adored grandson Ames Klempay. He was Chairman of the board of his surviving siblings: Joanne Marhaver Smith of Herkimer, NY, Brian Marhaver of Little Falls, NY, David Marhaver (Lynne Marhaver), and Robert Marhaver (Tami Johnson Marhaver), both of Ilion, NY, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, whom he loved coaching and caring for during summer holidays at Fourth Lake in the Adirondacks. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Laura Katherine "Katie" Marhaver and Edward "Ned" Arleigh Marhaver, and his brother-in-law, David A. Smith. At the time of his death, Carl served as President of the Beachside Villas Condominium Association and on the Governance Committee of the Amelia Island Equity Club. Carl was a lifetime member of the Amelia Shotgun Sports club, where he enjoyed much success shooting sporting clays with Team Winchester. Carl was an avid scuba diver for over twenty years, and he nurtured his daughters' love of traveling, science, sports, and sunshine on many Caribbean dive trips. Donna (Furman) Angelichio, IHS 1958 age 79, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany. She was born on February 1, 1941, in Ilion, the daughter of James and Beatrice (Crandall) Furman and graduated from Ilion High School in 1958. Donna was married to Anthony 'Doc' "Tony" Angelichio DMD, on June 28, 1973. He died on March 12, 2012. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving family members include her son, Joseph Laura and his wife, Stacie and their children, Anthony, "AJ" and Jake, of Chester, NY; her stepson, Michael Angelichio and his wife, Elizabeth and their children, Emily and Jack, of Kennebunk, Maine; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and good friends, who were like 'her family'. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony; her daughter, Jamie Laura Carter; her stepson, Anthony Angelichio, Jr.; and her sister, Anne E. Day. Jacob M. Hence, IHS 2006 age 31, affectionately known to so many of us as "Jake", age 31, of Ilion, New York, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Jake was born on October 7, 1988, in Ilion, a son of Colleen Lynne Metz. He lived most of his life in Ilion and attended Ilion High School. Donald W. Stannard, IHS 1981, age 56, of Center St., Ilion, passed away as a result of a tragic accidental drowning while fishing, on Friday, July 10, 2020. He was born on July 21, 1963, in Ilion, the son of Donald G. and Irene F. (Kellogg) Stannard and graduated from Ilion High School. Don was a machine operator at Kwik-Kut Mfg. Co., Mohawk. He had also worked for many years, at the Mohawk Valley Florist, Ilion. He attended the Church of the Annunciation. Don enjoyed being an engineer on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. He also loved to go fishing. He was a former member of the Ilion Volunteer Fire Dept. Surviving family members include his mother and father, Irene and Donald G. Stannard, with whom he resided in Ilion; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many close family friends. A Memorial Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at 12 noon, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's larger location, at 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (Town of Frankfort), with Deacon James Bower, officiating. Shirley B. (Mead) Jones, IHS 1952, 84 of Ilion passed away on Sunday July 11, 2020 at The Grand in Ilion Shirley was born on September 17, 1935 in Ilion, she was the daughter of, the late, Howard and Ruby (Geary) Mead Sr. She was educated in Ilion and worked as a switchboard operator at Mohawk Valley General Hospital for several years. On February 26, 1971 she was united in marriage to William Jones, who passed away in 2002. Through her life Shirley enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her son Kurt of Ilion and a grandson Scott. Jonathan L. Waller, IHS 2000, 38, of Coldbrook, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 10, 2020. He was born on December 10, 1981, in Herkimer, NY, son of Jim Waller and the late Patricia (Farr) Waller. He was a graduate of Ilion High School and Herkimer BOCES Auto Body Repair Program. Jonathan was at one time employed with Cater Lincoln Mercury, Advance Auto Parts, and PEP Boys. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Herkimer, NY, where he served as an altar boy and volunteered for many activities including cooking for Church dinners. Jonathan will be remembered as a kind and considerate person who respected everyone he came into contact with. In his free time, he enjoyed building model planes and cars, as well as the company of his feline companion "Gizzy" who never left his side. He is survived by his son Jonathan Waller, his grandmother Ann Waller, his father Jim (Florence) Waller, uncles David and Mike (Heather) Waller, aunt Johna Berger, and long-time friend Jim Amado. He leaves his half-siblings, Kellie Pope, Amanda Waller-Guyer, and Mike, Duane, and Jasmine Beauharnois. He also leaves several cousins, nephews, and a niece. Doris M. Lyon, IHS 1945, age 92, formerly of Ilion and Boonville, passed away peacefully, on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Foltsbrook Center, in Herkimer. She was born on April 17, 1928, in Ilion, daughter of Merl and Esther (Waldo) Lyon. Doris graduated from Ilion High School and Rochester Business Institute. She was employed as a purchaser at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for many years, retiring in 1985. She then co-owned and operated Rocky's Recreation Area, in Boonville. Doris was active in many local organizations during her life, including the Ilion United Methodist Church, Methodist Youth Fellowship, Remington bowling leagues, Mohawk Valley Squares, and IHS Class of 45 alumni. She was a caring and generous aunt and friend to many. Surviving family members include her nieces, Carolyn Wolfe (Rob Blank), of Bernardsville, NJ, Susan Wolfe, of Voorheesville, NY and Barbara Clarke (Tom), of Churchville, NY; her grand-nephews, Alex (Shannon) and Evan (Caroline Zink) Clarke; her grand-niece, Audrey Clarke; and several cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her mother and father; her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and William Wolfe, of Herkimer; and her partner, William "Rocky" Russell, of Boonville. Heidi Beth Larson, IHS 1993, of New Haven, CT passed away at the age of 45 on Tuesday, July 7. She was born on June 27, 1975 to the late Kenneth Larson and Barbara (Coombs) Larson in New Hartford, NY. She graduated from Ilion Central School District in 1993, attended college at Fredonia State, and completed her degree in Dietetics from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. She completed her internship at the University of Connecticut. She dedicated 17 years as a Registered Dietician at Yale New Haven Hospital, and truly loved her profession, the people it introduced her to, and the impact they made in each other's lives. To know Heidi is to know a vibrant, loving, and intelligent individual. She saw the very best in the people she loved and worked with, often going out of her way to do things for others or remember a detail about their lives. Heidi loved to travel and explore the world near and far with her treasured children and loved ones. She loved camping, hiking, and recent trips to Paris, Yosemite, Zion, and Grand Canyon National Parks. Heidi treasured Beach Week in Rhode Island with her extended family each summer. She loved and appreciated her time in nature, had a love for animals, and chose to be a vegetarian for over 20 years. In recent years, Heidi developed a passion for genealogy. Building relationships through social media, she reconnected with cousins in Sweden and hosted three of her cousins in her home. As a Larson, Heidi loved her Chicago Bears. She treasured her pilgrimage to Solider Field with her sister, aunt, and uncle to witness the Bears beat the Rams in Dec 2018. Music and Art were a big part of Heidi's life, she loved creating art with her children, visiting museums and attending concerts. Heidi cherished her children, Olivia Nardone, Kenny Nardone, and Teddy Nardone. She is also survived by her significant other, Jamie Baldwin, her former spouse Corey Nardone, her mother Barbara Larson, siblings Kenneth Larson, Holly Garlock, Tracy Squatrito, Paul Larson, and Rebecca Larson, her aunts and uncles, Andrea Larson, William Larson, Edward and Marilyn Coombs and Patricia Coombs, her nieces, and many cousins. Heidi' s name brings a smile to those who knew her. Her generous, loving heart will be missed by so many. In light of community safety, friends will be invited to a Celebration of Life for Heidi at a future date to be announced. He was born on August 10, 1960, in Ilion, the son of Donald "Pete" J. White and Alice (Ingraham) White and attended Ilion schools. Don was employed at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for 17 years. Doris E. (Jordan) McHarg, IHS 1952 age 86, passed away on June 26, 2020 at the Sitrin Long Term Health Care Center surrounded by her family. A graveside funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00AM at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Herkimer, NY. Doris was born on June 9, 1934 in Plattsburgh, NY, the daughter of the late Roland M. and Doris G. (Sloan) Jordan. Doris graduated in 1952 from Ilion High School and in 1957 from Plattsburgh Teachers College, Plattsburgh NY with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education; she then taught full and part-time for over 25 years. She married Charles G. McHarg, Jr. on January 29, 1957 at Annunciation Church, Ilion NY. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved doing puzzles, traveling, camping, fishing, and the outdoors. Surviving are her husband, Charles, of 63 years; her son, David McHarg and his wife, Julie, of Castorland, NY; her three daughters, Terry Agel of Chicago, IL, Kathleen Russo and her husband, Thomas, of Hudson, OH, and Michele Muller of Hudson Falls, NY; her sister, Nancy DeLux of Charlotte, NC; her sister-in-law, Helen May and her husband, Ben, of Leesburg, FL; and 10 grandchildren: Zachary, Brandon, Nicholas, Kelsey, Zoe, Steven, Remy, Jacob, Marcellus and Isabella; along with several nieces and nephews. Timothy "Tim" A. Leon, IHS 1979 age 60, lifelong resident of Ilion, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020, in the loving comfort of his home with his family by his side, following indomitable battle with an illness from birth. Tim was born February 16, 1960, in Ilion, the son of the late Harold and June McNinney Leon. He was a graduate of Ilion High School, Class of '79. Tim married his longtime companion, Susan Tracy on July 17, 2010 in Ilion. For most of his career, he worked as a painter for Pezzolanella Construction Company, Utica. Tim was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge #1444, the Ilion Knights of Columbus, the Ilion Fish and Game Club and back in the day the Crossway's Fishing Club. During his free time, he enjoyed golfing with his daughter, Tera, bowling on a league at State Bowl and was an outstanding pool shooter. Tim also had a great appreciation for the outdoors and nature by spending time fishing and hunting. Tim's most remarkable accomplishment besides his family, was his strength to live with what life had dealt him. He had a genetic disease called CMT which his perseverance and determination never held him from doing anything he put his mind too. Throughout his journey with this disease, led to a boundless amount of respect and love from the many friendships that formed. Tim's never quit persona was inspirational. He is survived by his wife, Susan Tracy; his daughter, Tera Leon-Tracy; his son, Derek Leon, his daughter, Janel Leon; his grandson, Thayne Francis Leon; his brothers and sister-in-law, David Leon of Deerfield and Harold and Sandy Leon of Frankfort; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sally and Mike Hayden; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tim will be missed by his close friends, Roger Salvagni, Jim Lincourt, AJ Smith, and Rob Tubia and all those whom he considered his friend. In keeping Tim's wishes, cremation will occur. Elizabeth A. (Sullivan) Graml, IHS Alumnus 57, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY. She was born on June 21, 1962, in Herkimer, NY, the daughter of the late Theodore Karpiak and Patricia (Bronson) Sullivan. Elizabeth was educated locally in Ilion, NY. Ms. Graml was last employed in the Deli Department of Price Chopper, Richfield Springs, NY. At one time, she worked at TJ Restaurant, Cooperstown, NY. Elizabeth was a loving and caring mother and sister, who had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed being with her family and found much satisfaction preparing their favorite meals. In her younger years, Elizabeth was an avid athlete, especially when she was in high school. Survivors include three daughters, Crystal Benedict and husband, Lakota, Faith Graml and Victoria Graml; a son, Thomas Graml; two sisters, Deborah Weston and Nancy McNeil and husband, Kyle; and several nieces and nephews. Patrick H. Donnelly, IHS 1982 Funeral services for Patrick H. Donnelly, age 56, of Morgan Street, in Ilion, New York, will be held privately at the discretion of his family and his parents are in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg, New York. Pat died Sunday, June 7, 2020, after being stricken at home. Surviving are his siblings, Roger Donnelly, of Wisconsin and Robin Donnelly, of Stephentown, New York; brother-in-law, Carl Clary; nephew, Colin Clary, of Ogdensburg; and aunts, uncles & cousins. She was born in Ilion, on March 8, 1924, the daughter of Clarence and Jennie (Wilcox) Sprague. She was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Ilion High School in 1941 and Utica School of Commerce in 1942. Betty Lou married her high school sweetheart Robert Whittemore on July 24, 1943, in Savannah, Georgia, where he served in the Army. They had four children. Betty worked many years in the advertising department at the Oneonta Daily Star and also worked at the Palladium Times in Oswego. She retired in 1992 as secretary of the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta. Betty Lou's family was the most important thing in her life and she loved each member dearly. She also enjoyed playing cards with her card club friends and her good friends at Nader Towers. She enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and other activities. She was a member of the Otego United Methodist Church where she served on the Pastor Parish Relations committee. Church was a big part of Betty's life no matter where she lived. She was born on March 25, 1944, in Ilion, the daughter of Charles W. and Esther (Senif) Platts. Charlotte graduated from Annunciation School, in 1958, Ilion High School, in 1962 and Herkimer Co. Community College. She was chairman for Ilion Days Beauty Pageant for several years, culminating her career as Chair of the 2005 Ilion Day's celebration "Hats off to Ilion" and was a former member of the D.A.R. Charlotte loved history, genealogy and was a Civil War buff. She also loved doing crafts. Edward Anthony Pendergrass Sr., IHS 1964 age 73 of Mentor, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday June 6, 2020. The following he authored. Ed entered this world on October 6, 1946, in Little Falls, NY. He was the son of the late Raymond Edward (Foreman at Remington Arms) and Louise Sophia (nee Bladek) Pendergrass (Sales Clerk at W.T. Grant). Moving to Ilion, NY at 6 months Ed grew up in the affluent 50's at the former 46 West State Street. He graduated from Ilion High School in 1964. He then attended Syracuse University, In his Senior year he was a member of the Phi Delta Epsilon fraternity and the undefeated track team. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1968 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering. On June 17, 1968 General Electric hired Ed into their then Manufacturing Management Program with (3) 1-year assignments in Binghamton, NY, Tyler, TX and Utica, NY. He took an off program position at GE's Nela Park in Cleveland, OH where his career was either in Technology or Quality. In the course of his work he was granted (2) US Patents. After 33.5 years Ed accepted an early retirement offer the end of 2001 at 55. After spending an extended time in southern China he returned to Mentor, OH July 2014. Being doubled retired he enjoyed his time attending Bible Community Church, part-time teaching Consumer Math at Mentor Christian School, working around outside his home and church and training up his daughters, Vivian and Lilian. Ed's fatherhood began with Melanie Jill (11/1/70 NY) followed by Jennifer Jill (12/6/73 OH), Sarah Raye (10/6/77 OH) and Edward Jr. (6/11/82 OH) with former wife, Star; then resumed with Vivian Louise (4/29/09) and Lilian Li (9/13/11) both in Huizhou, PR China with wife Lijun (Lily) Li. God saved Ed from his sins on January 13, 1980 while at Maplegrove Christian & Missionary Alliance church in Willoughby Hills, OH. Before his major faux pas he served over 20 years in varied positions. His deeper walk in the Light came at Bible Community Church. Much indebtedness is owed to Pastors Mike and Denny, finally realizing that God controls every atom! His life verse was Galatians 2:20. He relished "his" SF Giants, LA Rams, LA Lakers and his college, 'Cuse. He became less enthralled with pro sports during his days in China. However, he greatly enjoyed ribbing followers of most teams, especially THE school in Columbus, OH! His sister, Pat, said he was a Type A person to wit Ed did displays a number of those traits. He liked ping-pong (3 sons-in-law never beat him [or quoted Scripture] for his daughters hands), card and board games, using chopsticks. He loved any 'chuz', his glider, surprising people. His wife, Lily, survives Ed along with his 6 children: Melanie Janka HD#1 (Dave; Olyvia, Grayce, Jennifer (Adam) Squires and David (Rachel) Janka) of Stow, OH, Jennifer Domenech HD#2 (Marc; Dallas, Taylor and Andrew) of Eastlake, OH, Sarah McMichael HD#3 (Julia {HGGS#1 Josiah} and Jacob) of Mentor, OH, Edward Pendergrass Jr HS#1 (Bianca) of Mentor, OH, Vivian and Lilian. His sister Patricia McElrath (Joe) plus niece Jodi and family, nephew Chris and family plus several cousins. All are invited to attend the calling hours for Ed to be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday, June 15th, 2020 at Bible Community Church, 8600 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor. Amanda L. Doolen, IHS Alumnus 37, of Frankfort, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, June 4, 2020. She was born in Utica on May 22, 1983, the daughter of the late David Doolen and Rebecca Hatmaker and she attended Frankfort and Ilion Schools. Amanda was employed as an Aide with United Cerebral Palsy in Utica for several years. Amanda is survived by her beloved children, Alivia (Miss Rose) Pratt, Reuben (Bubbie) Pratt, Jr. and Adam (Joseph) Pratt, all of Frankfort; her mother, Rebecca Hatmaker of Ilion, her paternal grandmother, Jill Young of Herkimer; her stepmother, Florence Doolen of Herkimer; five brothers, Cory and Amy Cool of Mohawk, Curtis Cool and his companion, Cheyenne Bourne of Richfield Springs, David Doolen of Herkimer, Michael Doolen of Herkimer and Elisha Collette of Ilion; six sisters, Jackie and Floyd Houghtelling of Montour Falls, Jill Doolen of Herkimer, Rochelle Collette of Ilion, Rachael Collette of Ilion, Naomi Collette of Mohawk and Elizabeth Collette of Ilion; and her former husband, Reuben Pratt of Frankfort and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank G. Manion, IHS 1950 88 of Ilion NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 3, 2020 in Pittsburgh PA. Frank was born on May 22,1932 in Herkimer NY, the son of the late Martin and Genevieve (Knapp) Manion. On October 24, 1953 Frank married the love of his life, the former Eleanor June Pelletier at Fort Dix NJ. After serving in the United States Army and being stationed in Fort Benning, GA during the Korean War, they returned home to settle in Ilion NY. Frank received his primary education from St. Francis Parish, Herkimer NY and graduated from Ilion High School and received his teaching certificate from Utica College. Frank was employed by Loblaws, General Electric and as a data processing instructor retiring from Herkimer County BOCES in 1989. Frank is survived by what he referred to as his "Million Dollar Family": his wife June, two daughters Karen and her husband Steve Fogerty and Janet and her husband Don Crim all of Ilion and son Tom and his wife Patty of Greensburg, PA. Frank cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as there was not a conversation had without one or more of them being mentioned and celebrated. Poppies' team is represented by: Meghan Appley and husband Josh, Becky Fogerty, Mike Fogerty and partner Hanna Collis, and Katie Fogerty; Lisa Sands, Kelly Ward, husband Taylor and daughters Reagan and Parker, Suzy Sands and son Reese as well as Grace Manion; Dan Crim, wife Lauren, daughter Kinleigh and son Abel, Emily Crim, partner Matt Stickles and son Beau. Frank is also survived by a brother-in-law Jack Winchester as well as sister-in-law Kathy Revior as well as several nieces and nephews and is predeceased by a son David, who he missed dearly; three brothers Martin, Jack and James, two sisters Genevieve Winchester and Marie Curie as well as his mother-in-law Grace Heath, father-in-law James Pelletier and brothers-in-law Don and Jim. Frank was a parishioner of the Annunciation Church, a member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus, Council 518 serving for many years on the John D. Buckley committee and a charter member of Friends of the Town Park. Frank was an avid sports fan with loyalties to Notre Dame, Syracuse University, the NY Giants and Yankees. One of his favorite pass times was spending time rooting on his family whether it was at a sporting event or dance recital. He was extremely dedicated to his children and grandchildren and rarely missed an event, yet alone a practice. He always opened his home to all and was dearly loved and appreciated by the many extended family members and friends who were a part of his life. On Thursday, June 11, the family has set aside time for private viewing after which he will be laid to rest at 11:00 AM in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion NY. Frank's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the care, compassion and support provided by the staff of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Shadyside Hospital. Sharon (Dye) Pedersen, IHS Alumnus 67 of Ilion, passed away on Sunday May 17, 2020 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Sharon was born in Ilion on December 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late James and Doris (Brown) Dye. She attended Ilion schools and on August 3, 1974 she married Jon Pedersen in Ilion. Over the years Sharon worked at several places including K-Mart and the village of Ilion and Frankfort. She always enjoyed camping and NASCAR as well as crafts of different kinds, but the thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an "Honorary" member of the Ilion Volunteer Fire Dept. Sharon is survived by her husband Jon; three sons, Al and his wife Sherry of New Hartford, Tom and his wife Jen of Ilion and Robert and his wife Chivon of Ilion; two brothers Keith and his wife Barb of Ilion and Ken of Cortland; her mother in law Eleanor "Big Gram" Pedersen; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as he lifelong friend Adele Gardner of TN. She was predeceased by her brothers Steve and Mitch and sister in law Colleen. Services for Sharon will be private, and she will be laid to rest in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. Mr. Donald C. Ray, Jr., IHS 1989 of Benedict Avenue, Ilion, passed on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at the age of 50, after a long courageous battle with cancer. We affectionately remember him as "Cliffy" and he was loved by all of us. He was born on October 17, 1969, in Herkimer, NY, a son of Joyce (Whaley) Ray and the late Donald C. Ray, Sr. Don attended and graduated from Ilion High School, 'class of 1989'. He was a lifelong area resident. Cliffy had worked with Union Tools, Orion Bus and most recently with Remington Arms as a machinist. He was interested in many hobbies throughout his life including racecars (NASCAR and Utica/Rome Dirt Racing), hunting, farming, snowmobiling and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. We would like to offer our most very special thank you to Dr. Manzurul Sikder, Debra Iselo, the Oncology Department and Infusion Room as well as his co-workers at Remington Arms for all the support and love extended. Don is survived by his beloved family, his mother, Joyce Ray; his sisters and brother-in-law, Donna Ray, of Ilion and Elizabeth Colburn and her husband, James, of Ilion; his nephews, Daniel Colburn, of Kansas and Clay Colburn and Brady Colburn, both of Ilion. Jennifer R. Harris IHS 1998 40, of Herkimer, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, April 30, 2020. She was Born to parents Gerald Edwin and Mary Jan (Hardy) Harris, on May 6, 1979, in Stoughton, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Ilion High School, 'Class of 1998'. After completing high school, she went on to graduate from Eastern Nazarene College, in Quincy, Massachusetts, later earning her Master's Degree in Special Education. She had worked at the House of Good Shepard for over nine years and most recently with Herkimer County BOCES as a Special Education Teacher, fulfilling her lifetime dream. Survivors include her mom and dad, Rev. Gerald and Jan Harris, of Ilion; her sisters, Barbara Fish (Bill) and Stephanie; her brother, Philip (Susan); her very special daughter, Natasha and she was mommy to Haidyn; her nieces, Abby, Angie, Scottia and Celia; nephew, Edwin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. William 'Bill' D. Gahan IHS 1972 "Bill" also known as "Lipper", 66 of Ilion, passed away peacefully with his children by his side, leaving this Godly Earth too soon on Thursday April 30, 2020. Bill was at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital in New Hartford, NY when he passed. Bill was born on September 22, 1953 in Ilion, NY. Bill's death was preceded by his Father Francis A. and Mother Cecelia D. (McNinney) Gahan. He was a graduate of Ilion High School and Mohawk Valley Community College. Bill worked as an Electrician at Remington Arms for 26 years. Following retirement from the Arms he was working at Fiberdyne Labs as an Electrician in Frankfort, NY. Bill was a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge #1444. He enjoyed spending time with his family at Piseco Lake camping and fishing, golfing and working on cars and engines. Bill was known by many as "Lipper", a High School nickname that continued throughout his life. Bill will always be remembered for enjoying good times with his family and friends. William George Sheppard IHS Alumnus, 81 passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2020 at Foltsbrook Center in Herkimer. Bill was born on June 14, 1938 in Utica, he was the son of the late Harold and Winifred (Pritchard) Sheppard. He was a graduate of Ilion Schools, MVCC and SUNY Oswego. On July 25, 1959 he was united in marriage to, the former, Jessie C. Eberle. He was a teacher in the Utica School System and was an Adjunct Professor at MVCC, until retiring several years ago. After retirement Bill remained very active, having worked as a manager and engineer at several local companies, including Martin Reel Co. in Mohawk, where he received a patent for a fishing reel he designed. His most recent job was with Orion Bus Industries, where he worked for 16 years. He also enjoyed Big Band music and motorcycles and owned and operated Sheppard's Cycle Shop for many years. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Mohawk and the BMW Motorcycle Club. Bill is survived by his loving wife Jessie of Herkimer; a son William J. and his wife Varinya Sheppard of New Hartford; a daughter Connie and her husband Tom Giordano of Herkimer; a sister Gail Jay of Cold Brook; his grandchildren Bryn and Justin Albro, Tyler and Morgan Sheppard, Christina Ferrucci and her fiancé John Deschambeau and Michael Ferrucci; step grandchildren Anthony and Alexandra Giordano; one great grandchild Finn Albro and one on the way, Emerson Albro as well as many special cousins. Warren Austin Steiner IHS 1948, 91, a life long resident of Mohawk, died peacefully at the Masonic Care Community, Utica on April 25, 2020. Warren was born on March 11, 1929 in Ilion the son of the late Fred and Clara (Santmire) Steiner. He was a graduate of Ilion High School Class of 1948 and received his BS Degree in 1952 from Michigan State University in Political Science. After graduation he went to work for the N.Y.S. Department of Transportation as a Safety Engineer in the Utica office for 30 years. On November 26, 1960 Warren was united in marriage with Mary Horton at the Ilion Methodist Church. They shared a devoted relationship until Mary's passing in March of 2007. Warren was an active member of the Methodist Church serving on several committees and teaching Sunday School, he was a life member of the Ilion Masons and was very active with the Shriner's where he served on the Shriner's Hospital Board in Springfield, Ma.for 10 years. He was a member of The Valley of Utica Consistory, The Ziyara Shrine, the Ilion 1444 BPOE and the Ilion Winter Club. Warren was an avid reader and was especially interested in history. He was a gentle man who was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed it and took much pride in working around his home on Vickerman Hill, Mohawk. He was kind and caring with a great scene of humor, if he was asked how he was his response always was"Top Shelf". Warren is survived by his daughter Barbara (Kevin) Davis, his cherished granddaughter Isabella and grandson Cayman of Hurricane, Utah; his sister Shirley Pearson, Ilion; a special niece Cynthia (David) Garrett of Barneveld; his nephews Doug (Ruth) Pearson and Dale Pearson of Ilion and his loving companion Delores McGraw of Ilion; also several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother in law Donald Pearson. Ronald W. McLean IHS 1945, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law and friend passed away on April 22, 2020, quietly and comfortably at St. Luke's Campus of MVHS, New Hartford, under the watchfulness of the amazing nurses and doctors who provided kind and compassionate care throughout his stay. Our Dad, Ron, was born on November 11, 1927, the only child of William and Bessie (Soutar) McLean in Ilion. He was a graduate of Ilion High School in 1945 and enlisted in the army until the end of World War II. He was honorably discharged from the 82nd Airborne, Glider Division, and enrolled in the Albany College of Pharmacy, class of 1951. In 1953, our dad and mother, Helen Finnegan, moved to Newport, where he opened his first pharmacy. He later opened a second pharmacy in Barneveld. Our Dad was well respected for his dedication to his profession and his commitment to the community, his friends and neighbors who affectionately called him "Doc." It was in this setting that our Dad became an avid fly fisherman, golfer and downhill skier. He was instrumental in the formation of the Honey Hill Country Club, now known as Newport Golf course, and was the first president and charter member of Honey Hill. Dad left Newport in 1976 to start his second career at Albany College of Pharmacy. Again, he gained the respect of colleagues and students. He retired in 1996 as the acting dean of the college. In his retirement, he pursued a third career painting watercolors. He was co-owner and contributor (paintings) to A Touch of Color Art Gallery along with Sue and Anne White of Albany. Dad also enjoyed fly fishing in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, listening to and conducting classical music from his favorite chair and he golfed into his early 80's. As a proud Scots, he enjoyed watching and teaching his grandchildren their heritage as they grew and started families of their own. In 2016, our Dad moved to Whitesboro, to be closer to family. He is survived by his five children, Eric and Linda McLean of Chattanooga, Tenn., David and Valarie McLean of Newport, Janice McLean of Utica, Jeffrey and Jill McLean of Whitesboro, and Mary and Tim Oles of Ghent. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mary E. (Betsy) McLean, Dr. Meredith Bassett, Nathan McLean, Mary Helen McLean, Ronald J. McLean, Van Oles and Brady Oles. In addition, he is survived by his four great-grandsons, Ian and Sam Bassett and Kellen and Owen McLean. Special mention to the White family of Albany. Due to recent restrictions, memorial contributions, visitation and a memorial Mass in St. John's Catholic Church, Newport, will be announced at a later date. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Newport, with military honors by the United States Army Honor Guard. Daniel P. Morris IHS 1976, son of the late Donald and Maureen Morris, formally of Ilion, NY, peacefully passed away on April 20, 2020 at his home in Pensacola, FL. Dan graduated from Ilion HS and received his BS from Utica College. Upon graduation Dan traveled throughout the country, working in many different capacities. He loved music, playing guitar and following The Grateful Dead. Those concerts took him to almost every state in the union. He eventually settled in Venice, FL, living and working there for almost 15 years. Dan ultimately moved to Pensacola, Fl. where he worked as a contractor and operated a Handy Man business. "Trapper" as he was known to family friends, loved fishing, golf, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was also an avid reader and a huge fan of the NY Giants and the Yankees. His love of the Pensacola Ice Flyers was fostered with the help of Dr. Don Dewey and he rarely missed a game. Dan was also a great caregiver. He lived with and cared for his father, Donald, until his passing in 2017. His care, attention and company helped to allow his Dad to live out his life in his own home. Above all, Dan was most proud of his 10-year AA sobriety coin which he received in January. He was very appreciative of the friends and associates that helped him reach this achievement. Dan's family wishes to thank Drs James Smith, Gerald Lowrey and Ranjith Dissanayake who took such good care of Dan. Lastly, thanks to his dear friend Janice Bozant. Janice gave Dan a reason to get up every day, and her support is greatly appreciated. Dan is survived by his brother Mark (Mary Jo), sisters Dr. Nancy Morris (Joe Grossi) and Maureen (Paul Arciero), and seven nieces, nephews, and a great niece. Dad also enjoyed fly fishing in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, listening to and conducting classical music from his favorite chair and he golfed into his early 80's. As a proud Scots, he enjoyed watching and teaching his grandchildren their heritage as they grew and started families of their own. In 2016, our dad moved to Whitesboro, to be closer to family. He is survived by his 5 children, Eric and Linda McLean of Chattanooga, TN, David and Valarie McLean of Newport, Janice McLean of Utica, Jeffrey and Jill McLean of Whitesboro, and Mary and Tim Oles of Ghent. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Mary E. (Betsy) McLean, Dr. Meredith Bassett, Nathan McLean, Mary Helen McLean, Ronald J. McLean, Van Oles and Brady Oles. In addition, he is survived by his 4 great grandsons, Ian and Sam Bassett and Kellen and Owen McLean. Special mention to the White Family of Albany. Due to recent restrictions, memorial contributions, visitation and a memorial mass at St. John's Catholic Church, Newport, will be announced at a later date. Christopher J. Harris IHS 1991 - of Verona, NY passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2020 at the age of 47. Known to all as "Critter", a nickname affectionately given to him by his older brothers at a very young age. He was a lifelong resident of the Mohawk Valley. He graduated from Ilion High School in 1991 and received his Bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport in 1995. He dedicated his career to the needs of children and founded Community Support Services LLC with his business partner and best friend Mike Boutin. Chris was known to all for his love for the great outdoors and the Adirondacks, specifically the family camp on Otter Lake. You could always find him on the dock fishing or kayaking with his dog, Maddie. To those who knew him, Chris was known as the friend who would drop everything to help you. His kindness, sincerity and outgoing personality would light up the room. He was bound to make anyone laugh with his wit and humor. To those he loved, he made sure you knew it. His dedication to friends and family was inestimable. The best way anyone could ever describe him as simple, "he is just a great guy". He is survived by the greatest joys of his life, his two children, Erik and Meagan. His profound love and pride for them is immeasurable and eternal. Alfred J. Morris IHS 1945, age 92, formerly of Ilion passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2020 in Peabody, MA. Al was born on April 4, 1928 to the late Thomas and Margaret (Curley) Morris in Ilion and was the seventh of nine children. He was a graduate of Annunciation School, Ilion High School and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University. Throughout his education he was an athlete and a scholar playing football in both high school and college and graduated from both schools with honors. Al proudly served in the US Army following WWII at the rank of Sergeant. He was assigned to the redevelopment of the communication infrastructure in Japan. In his professional life, Al was an entrepreneur, opening Morris Brothers Commercial and Industrial Photography Studio in Utica, NY with his brother Don. Their work contributed to nationwide advertising campaigns, to component design capabilities for the Apollo space program, and memorialized many of life's milestones for countless families across Central New York. After retiring from the Photography Business, Al worked as a commercial real estate broker in the Mohawk Valley. Al was an active member of the Church of the Annunciation where he served as a lecturn and a proud member of the New York State Democratic Party. He was a great fan of all Ilion Sports Teams and volunteered as a Little League Coach for many years where he ensured that everyone played, long before that became widely practiced. That exemplified his view that dedication and hard work was expected but would always be met with fairness, respect, and appreciation. After retiring from professional life, Al continued with two of his passions; watching Ilion HS sports and helping his neighbors whenever needed. Al became "that guy" that quietly touched so many lives. If you were a player, he was the guy in the hat that came to every practice and game, and you'll always remember that day when he said your name and "great job!" He was the guy that was up before dawn in the winter running his snow blower and clearing driveways so that everyone could get on with their day a bit easier. He was the guy that would take two hours to get a newspaper because he had a smile and a good word for everyone he met along the way. In his later years, he and his wife Sue lived north of Boston near their daughters. They shared family celebrations with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, visited family in Florida and the Adirondacks, and enjoyed Red Sox games together. Al would watch the Patriots with his daughters and remained an avid fan of Syracuse University's football and basketball teams. Al leaves behind his wife of 64 years Suzanne (O'Brien) Morris, a brother Robert of Florida, and three children, Kathleen Duggan of Peabody, MA, Sheila Driscoll and her husband Michael of Beverly, MA and Tim Morris and his wife Kelley of Chittenango, NY. Lynne P. (Purple) Baker IHS 1959 - Lynne P. Baker 1941 - 2020 CORNWALL - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away, quietly and comfortably at Noble Hospital, under the watchfulness of the nurses and doctors who provided kind and compassionate care throughout her stay, despite the relentless demands they face at this trying time, on April 15, 2020. Lynne was the 4th of 5 children born to George and Ella Purple. The Purples moved several times in Central New York State during her childhood, eventually settling in Hamilton, NY. After graduating from Ilion High School in 1959, Lynne matriculated to Middlebury College, where she graduated in 1963. At Middlebury, she met her first husband, Ted Buhl, of Batavia, NY. They were married in April of 1965. They had three children, Chris, Mickey and Amy. On September 1, 1977, Lynne married the love of her life, Dr. John (Jack) W. Baker, II. His daughters, Karen and Laura Baker, became Lynne's 4th and 5th children. The only steps in the Baker home were the staircases leading up or down. The Baker family resided together in Cornwall, NY for over 40 years. We often heard Lynne say that all she ever really wanted to be was a mother. She did that and did it wonderfully. None of her children can remember a night during our childhood that Lynne failed to have dinner for seven of us on the table at 6 p.m. sharp, or a day she and Jack didn't find a way to get all five of us to whatever practice, recital, game or event we were participating in throughout our school years. She did all that while also managing the myriad details of Jack's successful and ever expanding psychology and consulting practice for 35+ years. Lynne and Jack enjoyed travel, with their children and on their own, sports (particularly tennis) and music. More than anything else they valued family and were always sure to see that all the various grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins were an active part of the Baker family's life. As their children grew up and ventured out on their own, Lynne and Jack dove headlong into the roles of loving, doting grandparents to their (eventually) ten grandchildren. Many of Lynne's greatest joys and fondest memories were of times with her grandchildren as they grew. Lynne was predeceased by her parents, George and Ella Purple; her older brother, Rick Purple; and her granddaughter, Annie Buhl. She is survived by her husband, Dr. John (Jack) W. Baker, II; her children, Karen Baker Pinkham, Chris Buhl, Mickey Buhl, Laura Baker Green and Amy Buhl Conn; her sons-in-law, George Pinkham, Frank Green and Adam Conn; her daughters-in-law, Sarah Buhl and Stacy Buhl; her grandchildren, Trevor, Tristan and Trey Pinkham, Sam, Chloe and Robinson Buhl, Cody Green and Savannah and Soren Buhl. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jo Purple; sister-in-law, Jere Purple; sister, Lee Bent; and sister, Les Purple; as well as by her nine nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and nephews. A Memorial to Celebrate her Life will be held at a future date. Dorothy VanSteinburg Daly IHS 1947, 90 of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 4, 2020 at The Grand in Ilion. Dott was born in Ilion, the daughter of Clayton and Marjorie Coleman VanSteinburg on June 7, 1929. She attended Ilion schools and the St. Luke's School of Nursing. On October 19, 1957 she married her husband of 62 years, Robert J. Daly, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk. Together they raised their five children in the wonderful South Third Ave neighborhood of Ilion. She enjoyed a 40 year career at the Mohawk Valley General Hospital and was a nurse's nurse with a take-charge attitude. She was a long time, active, member of the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion and the Ilion Historical Club. Dott was the matriarch of her family, and always the "go to girl" in all her circles, be it family, neighbors, friends or co-workers. If someone had a project, challenge or problem she could always be called upon. She also lived up to her married name, Daly, which in Irish means "place of assembly". She was a tireless worker who was always happiest when assembling groups to share time and experiences with. Whether it was a poolside picnic with her baked beans and fireworks, a holiday gathering with more people than could fit or a summer vacation to Cape Cod, she enjoyed having family and friends together, especially her grandchildren. In her last few years, when she couldn't assemble groups easily, she would always say: "you never know, and you won't know". She might have been saying to us, you never know when your health will fail or when some problem is just around the corner, so make sure you assemble now, when you can, and share life with each other. Finally, it's worth mentioning, she loved every color, as long as it was pink! Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Bob; five children Leigh and Brian Lytwynec of Sparta, NJ, Timothy Daly and Scott Vaughan of Ilion, Kathleen and John Reese of Ilion, Mary and James Salamone of Liverpool and Erin and Kurt Burger of Ilion; eleven grandchildren Andrew and Jill Lytwynec, Beth Lytwynec, Christine Lytwynec and Steve Eckenrode, Jacqueline Reese, Daniel Reese, Stephen and Jennifer Salamone, Sarah Salamone, Emily Salamone, James Salamone, Lauren Burger and Ryan Burger; three great grandchildren Gabriel and Rowan Lytwynec and James L. Thomas Price Stark Jr. IHS 1963, 74, formerly of Ilion, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at The Oak's Rehabilitation Center, Avon Park, Florida. Tom was born on June 17, 1945 in Utica the son of Thomas and Pauline (Grenon) Stark. Tom was a 1963 graduate of Ilion High School. He was employed by New York State at the Albany Campus for his entire career. After his retirement he and his wife Evelyn (Ellie) moved to Sebring, Florida to enjoy the warmth and sunshine. William Stilwell IHS 1954, passed away quietly on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Ocala, Florida after a long illness. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Tibbits, his brother, Tom Stilwell, his daughter, Cherlyn Deleonabreu, his son, William H. Stilwell, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. William was born on March 15, 1937 in Ilion, NY moved to Albany to attend and graduate from the Albany College of Pharmacy. He later moved to Syracuse, NY where he married the love of his life , Mary Emmi, raised his family and then moved to The Villages, Florida where he enjoyed retirement . William Stilwell was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put family first . He was respected and admired by many as a man of integrity, righteousness, and a love for God and country . A service will take place in Syracuse in June for both he and his wife who passed away February 19, 2018 when the whole family can be together to celebrate the lives of these two remarkable and beloved people. Mr. Fred J. Chrisman IHS 1983, 55, a great dad, loving brother and a friend to many, of Main Road, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, February 15, 2020, at Bassett Healthcare, in Cooperstown, New York. He was born on July 30, 1964, in Herkimer, New York, the son of the late Harold and Carrie (Humphreys) Chrisman, Sr. Fred received his education in Ilion schools. In the middle to late 1980's, Fred honorably served our country with the United States Navy. He was currently employed with Walmart, Marcy, New York, as a tractor trailer driver. Fred loved his yard equipment and took especially more of a liking to his tractor! He was a lover of Ford mustangs and trucks and was very knowledgeable when it came to car talk. You would never see Fred just sitting around. He would seldom, if ever, take a day off, that would be unheard of. Fred would do anything for us. He had a heart of gold. He was always there for everyone and anyone, no matter who it was. He was always in great health and we have even reflected upon his athleticism when he would enjoy running. All in all, he was simply a great guy that is really going to be missed by all of us. He is survived by his beloved family, including two sons, Corey J. Mr. Thomas J. Hart IHS 1968, age 70, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, February 14, 2020 in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born on November 27, 1949, Thomas was the son of the late Francis and Jean (Downs) Hart. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Ilion High School. Thomas received his call to duty on August 12, 1969 when he enlisted with the United States Navy. He proudly served his country as an Aviation Structural Mechanic until his honorable discharge on August 12, 1973. On November 26, 1983, Thomas was wed to the former Nancy (Quesnel) Dawley and together they've shared in over thirty-six years of a loving and devoted union. Thomas' working years began with tenures at both MDS and with the Ilion Light Department. His career, however, was spent mainly with United States Post Office, retiring as a Clerk out of the Ilion branch. Thomas was a longtime member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus as well as a parishioner of Annunciation Church. His friendly, upbeat and kind demeanor will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his stepsons, Randy Dawley and companion Shari Hysack of Little Falls, Kent Dawley and wife, Debbie of Little Falls and Mark Dawley of Miami Beach, FL; his sister, Patricia Trimboli and husband, Frank of Ilion; his five step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Darryl Piper, Richard Brant, Robert Rowan, Carol Simpson and Gene Simpson. Duane Namminga Prosser IHS 1937, 12-13-1917 to 2-11-2020, son of late Verne & Lykle Prosser of Ilion, NY passed away peacefully at home February 11, 2020 with his children by his side. Duane resided in Punta Gorda, Fl for the past 35 years with his wife, Garnet who preceded him by death in the year 2014. Duane retired from Chevrolet Moraine Engine Plant as Chief Manufacturing Chemist in August 1982. Duane was a Co-op at the Lunkenheimer Valve Co., Cincinnati, Oh in their Chemistry Lab Dept & International Nickle Co., Huntington, WV in their Research Lab while attending University of Cincinnati. Duane graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He began his career with GM at the Frigidaire Division, February 3, 1942 with the classification of Temporary Laboratory Solution Tester. He was promoted up to Assistant Superintendent of Process & Production Engineering, then to Chief Manufacturing Chemist/Metallurgist. His career lasted 42 years. Duane served in the Navy as an Aviation Electronic Technician Instructor in airborne electronics, in Corpus Christi, Tx from 1944 to 1946. Duane was a member of Isles Yacht Club, Elks and the American Legion, Punta Gorda Fl. He loved the game of tennis and played until his mid 90's. His motto in life "KEEP ON MOVING". Duane was well liked by everyone who knew him. To his neighbors & friends he was their "HERO". He was a kind, gentle man. He adored his wife, Garnet & will be greatly missed by his family. Lois A. (Kennell) Ford IHS 1952, 85 of Ilion passed away on Thursday January 30, 2020 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. She was born on May 29, 1934 in Ilion, the daughter of the late Francis and Helen (Schell) Kennell. She was a graduate of Ilion schools and on June 19, 1954 she was united in marriage to Stan Ford and they have shared a loving bond for their 65 years together. Lois was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She was a member of Annunciation Church and always maintained a strong faith in Christ and was devoted to her church. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She always followed her grandchildren through many years of sports and enjoyed every minute of that time with family. Madeline loved to help people and her home was always open to those who needed comfort or a home cooked meal. She loved spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born on August 25, 1931, in Lebanon, PA, the daughter of Herman and Idabelle (Eldred) Kahrs. Pearl attended Ilion High School. On May 30, 1951, Pearl was married to Harold Overacker, at the Ilion First Presbyterian Church. Harold passed away on August 9, 2007. Pearl was employed as an assembler at General Electric Co. and also worked at J's Children's Shop and ladies Shop, in Ilion. She was also a compassionate Caregiver to seniors. Surviving family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Frank Pomodoro, of Peabody, MA; her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dana and Becky Overacker, of Utah, Mark and Allison, of NC and Gregory Overacker, of Mohawk; her grandchildren, Adam, Benjamin and his wife, Caitlyn, Linnea, Dustin, Erik, Kyle and his wife, Samantha and Samantha; five great-grandchildren, Cloe, Lucy, Harold, Charlotte and Ruby; her brother, Frank Kahrs and his wife, Birdie; and several nieces and nephews. (February 1, 2020) Patricia A. (Murphy) Fletcher IHS 1947, died peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2020, in Eden Prairie, MN, with her children by her side. Patricia was born in Ilion, NY, on February 15, 1930, the second oldest of a family of six children of the late George J. and Mary (Luebbert) Murphy. She graduated from Ilion High School and furthered her education at the College of St. Rose, Albany, NY, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She later was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 40 years in various positions until her retirement in 1994 as Assistant Administrator. She thoroughly enjoyed her nursing career, including her role as Director of Nursing. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the Diabetes Association, Hospice, and the Abraham House. On June 26, 1954, she was married to James E. Fletcher at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion. They shared a blessed union of 52 years until Jim's passing on August 28, 2006. She and Jim were the proud parents of four wonderful children: daughters, Kathleen M. Reno, Jean T. Broich (Robert); sons, Timothy G. Fletcher (Maureen), and John D. Fletcher (Carryn). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Michele (David) Trump, Katie Reno (Jacob Jewett), Meghan Reno, Jessica (Reed) Bergmann, Max (Sarah) Broich, Carryn (Justin) Schram, Major Daniel (Diana) Fletcher, USMC, Hayley (Brett) Karcher, Brian (Alison) Fletcher, Grace Fletcher, Emily Fletcher, and Marie Fletcher. She also is survived by eight great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and cherished dearly. The best of times were those times spent with family. Surviving is her brother, Tom (Doreen) Murphy; sister-in-law, Gloria Murphy, and brother-in-law, Chuck Robinson. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved and enjoyed! Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Joan Robinson, Mary Lalonde, Lois Manley, and brother, Larry Murphy, as well as brother-in-law, Ted LaLonde, brother-in-law, Rob Manley; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Robinson and son-in-law, Dennis Reno. (January 26, 2020) Nancy Ann (Tetlock) Johnson IHS 1954, 83 of Ilion, passed away on Friday January 17, 2020 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her family by her side. Nancy was born in Ilion on December 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Stacks) Tetlock. She was a graduate of Ilion Schools and BOCES LPN program. She worked for 30 years at the Masonic Care Community, a job she truly loved. Nancy was a member of the OES and was a cub scout den mother and was active in the PTA, when her children were younger. She was an avid reader who loved classic movies and taking long drives. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Nancy is survived by her four children; Robert Berger and his wife Sharon of Ilion, Chris Berger and his wife Linda of Ilion, Tim Berger and his wife Kathy of Rexford and Michelle Cook who was Nancy's caregiver. A sister Linda Stasco of Midlothian VA, six grand children; Jason and his wife Courtney Berger, Kathy and her husband Travis McClure, Nicholas Cook and his girlfriend Cerina Spofford, Emily Cook and Lucas Cook and Kara Berger. Two great grandchildren Kailee and Archer Berger. Her nieces Pam and her husband Paul White, and Patty Stasco and her husband Greg Gieryic. She also leaves her four beloved K-9 friends. In keeping with Nancy's wishes there are no public services. She will be laid to rest in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. 'Honker' Mattison IHS Alumnus, age 69, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away on Sunday evening, January 5, 2020 in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born on October 10, 1950, Mark was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Sudakow) Mattison. He was raised in Ilion and received his education there. For many years, Mark was employed as a nighttime custodian at Ilion High School; he thoroughly enjoyed his job and worked there until his retirement. Honker can best be remembered as a guy who enjoyed breaking chops, playing his harmonica and having an all around good time. He is survived by his brothers, Craig Mattison and Gary Mattison; his niece, Sandra Ham and her husband, Jasper, of Mohawk; along with several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Richard Mattison; and his sister-in-law, Virginia Mattison. Honker's Celebration of Life will take place at a date and time to be announced.
