CBS reporter Steve Hartman lauded Marek for his extreme sportsmanship in the CBS "On the Road" segment which aired in Jaunary 2019.. "As a state champion, Marek Bush has little competition. But when he faced a fierce component who got injured, he decided winning wasn't important. Steve Hartman has their story 'On The Road.'".

    See YouTube version below.

The Utica Observer Dispatch first featured the story on January 10, 2019 - CVA wrestler takes intentional fall in display of sportsmanship. "Marek Bush received a standing ovation Saturday night at the 44th annual Leo Sammon Memorial Tournament for an incredible gesture during the match against Logan Patterson of Indian River, turning down a forfeit that would have wiped out an all-but-certain loss." The crowd watched on their feet and through blurry eyes as Marek lost the tournament but won the admiration of everyone in the gym, most especially from his dad, Bob.

Principal Jeremy Rich - 2017 New York State Elementary Principal of the Year

This award is given annually to a member of SAANYS and NAESP who has set the pace, character, and quality of education for the children in his or her school. Nominees are administrators who are committed to students, parents, and the community and have shown exceptional contributions to the educational process.

Jeremy's father was an educator and that contributed to Jeremy's interest in also selecting a career in education. His brother, sister and uncle also have careers in the education field. Jeremy Rich received his bachelors' degree from SUNY Cortland, his masters' degree from SUNY Albany and his advanced certification from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Mr. Jeremey Rich has served his entire career in the Ilion, as of this date. He started with the Ilion Central School District as a 12th grade English teacher. He later became Dean of Students, and then Assistant High School Principal at Ilion High. He was appointed Principal at Remington Elementary School, and served there until it closed in 2013 as part of the merger. He then became Principal of Barringer Road, in 2013, after the merger of the Ilion and Mohawk school districts into the Central Valley Central School District.

Like many former Ilion Principals and Superintendents, Jeremy Rich lived in, worked in and moved up through the ranks in the district. In the past, there was a traditional practice of promoting hard working and deserving district teachers, from within the district. (April 1, 2017 - modified March 15, 2003)

Rush-Henrietta Sperry High School football family rallies for coach Werner Kleemann.....

Former Ilion High Football Coach, Werner Kleeman is especially thankful this Thanksgiving. "It has been a challenging and emotional year for the 75-year-old coaching icon and Section V Hall of Famer, .... who in May was diagnosed with NK LGL leukemia, a rare form of chronic blood cancer. His oxygen-carrying red blood cells are dying off and his body isn’t regenerating new ones. But that's just part of the story. There have been times when this devout hockey fan (his son, Brian, is Rush-Henrietta's head coach) has felt like he’s been playing this game to save his life with a short bench, coping with diabetes, slow-to-heal infections, a toe amputation, congestive heart issues and a heart attack all complicating the treatment of his cancer." Thank you to Dee Dee Fisher for sharing this story from the Democrat and Chronicle page. (November 24, 2016)

"Facebook and Twitter postings have reached thousands. That's when Werner Kleemann learned through phone calls, letters, emails and heart-warming postings from teaching and coaching colleagues, ex-players and R-H alumni around the country just how many lives he has touched."
