Robert Service is a graduate of Ilion High School Class of 1969. He served fourteen years as the Superintendent of the Mohawk Central School District. He served as Ilion's Superintendent from January 2004, until he retired August, 1 2008.
Robert Servuce continued his work with children and educators after he retired. His work included returning to a school building as an elementary principal for two years and serving as an interim superintendent for districts.
Retired Ilion Superintendent Robert Service was appointed by the Mount Markham Board of Education to fill in on an interim basis starting on Jan. 1, 2013 through May 1, 2013.
The Mount Markham Board of Education appointed Robert Service as interim superintendent of the school district from Jan. 5, 2015, through Dec. 31, 2015. He will be replacing Superintendent Shawn Bissetta, whose resignation was accepted by the Mount Markham Board of Education on Dec. 16, 2014. Bissetta starts as superintendent, on Jan. 5, 2015, of the Oxford Academy and Central School District in Oxford, NY.
