Ilion School SuperintendentMr. Joseph Fusco1978 - 1997![]() Mr. Joseph Fusco, was born and grew up on Long Island. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, at the State University of New York College at Brockport. Mr. Fusco obtained his Master's Degree, in Educational Administration, from Syracuse University. He spent the first year, of his thirty-five year career in Education, teaching elementary school in Greece, New York. The next thirty-four years of his career were with the Ilion Central School District. Mr. Fusco's first position in Ilion was as a teacher at the Weber Ave Elementary School. Later, he was principal at both the East Frankfort Elementary School and the Barringer Road Elementary School. In 1978, Mr. Fusco started his term as Superintendent of the Ilion Central School District. He remained in the position of Superintendent for the nineteen years. Under his tenure, the Diss Memorial Athletic Comlex was completed and dedicated in the Fall 1980. In the 1982-83 school year, enrollment in the district was around 2,100 students, a drop of approximately 30 students from the previous year. An update from Mr. Fusco..... "I am retired as of July 1997 and do quite a bit of consulting work for the Office of Professional Development at Syracuse University with school districts in the eastern part of the state. I also work part time for J.E. Sawyer and Company of Glens Falls. We are a plumbing and heating industrial supplier. My wife, Corky and I enjoy the Lake George area and spend quite a bit of our time during the summer boating on this beautiful body of water. We have two grandchildren (Andrew and Katherine) who reside with their parents Joe and Kris Fusco in Rutland, Vermont. We are expecting a third grandchild in February who will reside in Chino Hills, CA with his/her?? parents Nancy and Hugh Miles." December 10, 1997
