Dr. A. C. Douglass Succumbs in Ilion

Ilion - Dr. Adelbert C. Douglass, 66, president of the staff of Ilion Hospital, died Friday in his home, 124 Otsego St, after a week's illness.

Doctor Douglass was the son of Adelbert J. Douglass, who practiced in Ilion for many years.

Doctor Douglass, the son, was valedictorian of his class here in 1893. In 1899, he was graduated from Long Island College Hospital with a special diploma as a physical diagnostician and an honor diploma in medicine from the State Board of Regents.

Served At Faxton

He was house surgeon of Faxton Hospital, Utica, in 1899 and 1900, after which he began his practice in Ilion. Several years later he studied chiropractic and added that to his profession.

Doctor Douglass was born in Clark Mills. He married Frances Ellis of Rome on Apr, 4, 1907. He was a member of the Baptist Church and Ilion Masonic Lodge 491, F.&A.M. He served as a first lieutenant in Company M, National Guard from 1902 to 1907.

Headed Hospital Staff

He was elected president of the Ilion hospital staff this fall.

Doctor Douglass leaves his wife, a son, C. Raymond, of Miami, Fla., and a daughter, Mrs. H. H. Horstman, Schenectady.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p. m. Monday from the Applegate Funeral Home by the Rev. Fred W. Ainslie and the Rev. Paul Wagner. Burial will be in the Armory Hill Cemetery.
