Dr. A. C. Douglass Succumbs in Ilion

Well Known Physician Was Husband of Former Frances Ellis of Rome

Ilion, Jan. 4 - Dr. Adelbert C. Douglass, 66, president of the staff of Ilion Hospital, died yesterday at his home here after a week's illness. He was the husband of the former Frances Ellis of Rome.

Dr. Douglas was valedictorian of Ilion High School class of 1893. In 1899 he was graduated from Long Island College Hospital with a special diploma as physical diagnostician and an honor diploma in medicine from the State Board of Regents.

He was house surgeon at Faxton Hospital, Utica, in 1899 and 1900, after which he began his practice in Ilion. Several years later he studied chiropractic and added that to his profession.

Dr. Douglass was born in Clark Mills. He married Miss Ellis in Rome April 4, 1907. He was a member of the Baptist Church and Ilion Masonic Lodge 591, F. and A. M. He served as a first lieutenant in Company M, National Guard, from 1902 and 1907. Surviving are his wife; a son, C. Raymond, Miami, Fla.; and a daughter, Mrs. H. H, Horstman, Schenectady.
