DeJohn Land Annexation Goes Forward ILION - The Village Board accepted a petition for annexation of the 20-acre DeJohn property on Barringer Rd. at a special meeting yesterday, subject to a permissine referendum. The referendum will be announced after publication of the notice of annexation, within the next 30 days. Atty. Jack Manley appeared for Mrs. DeJohn, presenting a petition for annexation and approval of the German Flatts Town Board, as required. The Board of Supervisors last Monday gave consent to including a 154 strip of county road fronting on Barringer Rd. This action was necessary before the Village Board could consider the matter, since law requires that property must be joined before annexation, and the strip of land was in between. Public hearing on Mrs. DeJohn's requast for annexation was held this summer, with no one appearing in opposition. The Village Board gave approval to present the petition to the Town Board, which accepted it subject to clearing the county road question with the County Board of Supervisors. Mrs. DeJohn asked for annexation after the Ilion Central School board took a $500 option on the 20 acres as possible site for a new elementary school. School district residents will vote from noon to 8 p.m. Monday on the school board's proposition to purchase the property for $40,000.
