Ilion High Informative By Bill Cornell - October 12, 1963 The Golden Bombers gained their first victory last Saturday when they defeated the Little Falls Mountaineers by a score of 20-14. Ilion's Varsity football squad meets the Frankfort Maroon Knights today for the third league game of the season. Last Monday the Ilion Junior Varsity football team downed Little Falls 28-0. The J.V. record is now 1-1. Rome Free Academy defeated Ilion High harriers by a 33-26 decision. Terry Sweeney led the runners over the 2.4 mile course, pacing the course in 11:17. The junior varsity and junior high teams also lost to the Rome squads. The officers of Modem Music Masters for this year have been elected. Lisa Siver will serve as president of the group; Cynthia Cramer, vice president; Lance Nehr, secretary; Don Davidson, treasurer; and Kathy Hoffman, historian. The officers of the junior division are Joyce Monteau, president; Caryl Chambers, vicepresident; Raymonde Bassard, secretary; Jack Miller, treasurer; and Linda Patrei, historian. Neil Schleicher announced that a new boys' ensemble has been formed. Over $2,200 worth of magazines was sold during the Junior Class magazine sale. According to Bill Miles and Barb Wardle, business managers, the class will make a profit of over $800. Paul Morris was elected president of the Senior National Honor Society, in its first meeting of the year. The other officers are Elaine Mutchler, vice-president, and Carol Klippel, secretary-treasurer. "Go Bombers" was the byword this week as the Ilion football team entertained LitH* Falls at home today. "Gold and Brown Day" was declared yesterday in conjunction with the pep rally on the football field at noon to help raise student spirit. Last week, Oneonta drubbed the team 40-0 in the league opener for this year. The National Junior Honor Society will hold its annual awards meeting on Oct. 7 in the cafeteria. Guests for this session will include members of the school board end the high school administration. The society is under direction of President Sharon Dibble; Vice - President Margaret Slocum; Secretary Patricia Santmire; Treasurer Joan Withington. The Student Council has initialed a program which, it is hoped, will end up in the sale of milk during the 8-minute break for the Senior High session in the morning. This is designed to help tide over till lunch students who have been unable to eat a good breakfast due to the early starting time. The newly-formed Majorette Club has joined the list of school organizations. Under the instruction of Miss Wainwright and Miss Holovitz the dub already has planned several activities. Kathy MacDougall wll serve as president, Janet Pierce vice-president, Mary Ladd secretary and Jennifer Bennett treasurer. In the music department, the Modern Music Masters have announced their officers for this year also. President will be Les Siver; vice-president Cynthia Cramer; secretary, Lance Nehr; treasurer, Don Davidson, and historian, Kathy Hoffman. Neil Schleicher of the vocal music department has been able to organize a boy's ensemble this year. The members are looking forward to singing almost every type of music and hope eventually to organize a quartet from the group. Going back to sports once more to close this week's column, Ilion cross-country team, a state power for the last three years, finished second to Ossining in the Proctor Invitational last week. Competing against some of the best harriers of the state, the squad's Terry Sweeney set a new course record by pacing the 2. mile distance in an amazing 11:15. Rome was to provide the competition yesteray in a dual meet at Ilion.
