Ilion High Informative By Bill Cornell - October 5, 1963

"Go Bombers" was the byword this week as the Ilion football team entertained Little Falls at home today. "Gold and Brown Day" was declared yesterday in conjunction with the pep rally on the football field at noon to help raise student spirit.

Last week, Oneonta drubbed the team 40-0 in the league opener for this year.

The National Junior Honor Society will hold its annual awards meeting on Oct. 7 in the cafeteria. Guests for this session will include members of the school board end the high school administration. The society is under direction of President Sharon Dibble; Vice - President Margaret Slocum; Secretary Patricia Santmire; Treasurer Joan Withington.

The Student Council has initialed a program which, it is hoped, will end up in the sale of milk during the 8-minute break for the Senior High session in the morning. This is designed to help tide over till lunch students who have been unable to eat a good breakfast due to the early starting time.

The newly-formed Majorette Club has joined the list of school organizations. Under the instruction of Miss Wainwright and Miss Holovitz the dub already has planned several activities. Kathy MacDougall will serve as president, Janet Pierce vice-president, Mary Ladd secretary and Jennifer Bennett treasurer.

In the music department, the Modern Music Masters have announced their officers for this year also. President will be Les Siver; vice-president Cynthia Cramer; secretary, Lance Nehr; treasurer, Don Davidson, and historian, Kathy Hoffman.

Neil Schleicher of the vocal music department has been able to organize a boy's ensemble this year. The members are looking forward to singing almost every type of music and hope eventually to organize a quartet from the group.

Going back to sports once more to close this week's column, Ilion cross-country team, a state power for the last three years, finished second to Ossining in the Proctor Invitational last week. Competing against some of the best harriers of the state, the squad's Terry Sweeney set a new course record by pacing the 2. mile distance in an amazing 11:15. Rome was to provide the competition yesteray in a dual meet at Ilion.
