Education Board Studies Sites for S. Ilion School Ilion - The Board of Education deferred action last night on all of the proposed sites for the new school in the southern section of Ilion, pending determination of definite prices on property under consideration. A special meeting will be called when Thomas Morris, attorney for the board, has obtained cost estimates from several property owners. Morris reported on several prospective locations last night and trustees studied aerial photographs of that section between the Old Forge Road, South Fourth Ave and Otsego St. Confidential prices on some of the properties were discussed. Contingent with the selection of a site for the new school is the proposed extension of South Fourth Ave., through to the Old Forge Road. The village owns the right of way for the extension which would cut through the Ilion Golf Course. Trustees Willing The Board of Education has been informed that the village will cooperate should the extension benefit the eventual site of the school. School Trustees are keeping in mind not only the selection of a site centrally located for school children residing in the southern areas of the village, but are looking ahead into the future of residential development in that section of the village. Approval of the development of the high school playground, as planned under the recommendations of the Recreation Commission, was voted by the Board. Three teachers. Miss Elizabeth Marks and Miss Helen Tallman, of the grade schools and Miss Mary Miller, high school librarian, were placed on tenure. An academic diploma was granted to George Webb, war veteran. Pastor to Speak It was announced that the Rev. Norman V. Peale, New York, will speak to students at the high school Tuesday afternoon. The Dr. Peale, brother of the Rev. L. D. Peale, will speak at services in the Methodist Church that evening. School superintendent. Dr. E. P. Watkin, announced that under the Federal School Lunch Program, more than $600 will be allocated Ilion for equipment for the local program. The allocation, it was said, is expected to cover purchase of a stove, a refrigerator and a sink. Watkin was authorized to obtain price estimates from dealers.
