Ilion Alumni Elect Slate of Officers June never smiled on a fairer season or a finer class of graduates from the Ilion High School than in this beautiful year of 1945. Twenty-two of our choicest young men and women finished the courses prescribed by the Board of Education and received diplomas therefore; and while on one occasion the class has numbered twenty-six, it is to the honor of '05 that they graduate with the highest standings ever won by any class in the Ilion High School; this suggests two reflections; first, it is as it should be; second, it is greatly to their credit. The competent administration of the Board of Education and the superior instruction of the faculty is having its designed effect. ILION - Ronald Farrington was elected president of the Ilion Alumni Association at the annual banquet held at the Elks Club Saturday night. Other officers named were Mrs. Alice Farrington, first vice president; Harold McGrath, second vice president; Jeanne Comstock, secretary; William Meehan, treasurer. Members of the Class of 1950 [1945] were honored at the event with George Nimm [Nunn], J. E. Carney, H. P. Bolmer [Bremer], R. D. Worden, Mrs. Kent McGowan, Mrs. Antoinette Gantt and Mrs. Lena [Swift] Bubb present from that group. Principal Joseph Baker was guest speaker and was presented by Robert Kerr. Superintendent George Purple was also introduced. Ladies of the 1945 class were presented with corsages. The Class of 1950 [1945] held its tenth reunion banquet at the Valley Tavern. As a memorial to three deceased members, the class will make a contribution to the John Guy Prindle Memorial Scholarship fund at Ilion High School. Class officers are Allan [Alfred] Morris, president; Jack Reyome, vice president; Mrs. Kay Getman, secretary; and Milton Hess, treasurer. About 50 attended the informal gathering. The committee in charge of the banquet was Mrs. Audrey Decker, Mrs. Mary LaLonde, John Sorenson, Mrs. Pauline Kasper, Mrs. Doris Lyon, Mrs. Jane Starring, Robert Day and President Morris. *Note - corrections are listed in brackets
