Commencement Week Activities Begin Friday Commencement week activities for Ilion high school will begin Friday evening, June 23, with class night in the school auditorium with the Junior class in charge. Marlon Babcock will sing the farewell song to the seniors and the class song will be sung by the whole Junior class. Most of the script for the class night program is impromptu, but the general outline has been prepared by Jane Daz and Richard Heaps, assisted by members class night committee. The baccalaureate services will be held at 7:30 p. m., June 24 in the school. The Rev. Leonard D. Peale will have charge of the service with other pastors participating. He has chosen as his topic, "Living in These Days." Music will be furnished by the Annunciation choir accompanied by Mrs. Pauline Frateschi. Commencement exercises are scheduled for Tuesday at the Capitol Theatre at 8:15. The speaker this year will be Cameron Berk, noted personnel and public relations authority. Members of the graduating class who are now in the armed forces will be honored at the various ceremonies for the seniors. They are: Duane Chapin, James Coman, Samuel Costanza, Robert Day, George Schulz. Gerald Windsor, John Braren, Van Davis and William Owens. The Alumni banquet at the Turf on Wednesday, June 27, will complete the commencement activities. The Turf will be closed to the public that evening and the class of 1895 will celebrate their 50th anniversary while the class of 1920 will celebrate their 25th. The committee chairman for the banquet as announced by Miss Sarah Costello, president, are: dinner, Miss Eleanor Chamberlain; program Mrs. Lawrence Lyman; hospitality, Miss Ruth Gordon; decoration, Mrs. George Smith; service flag, Mrs. Carroll Edsall; class reunions, Mrs. H. B. Gough, Mrs. John Curley, Miss June Miles and Miss Donna Smithson; tickets, Ralph Curtis and Frank Young. Reservations must be in by Monday, June 25 and tickets may be bought from Frank Young at the Ilion National Bank or from Ralph Curtis at the Endicott-Johnsen Shoe Store.
