Two Families Here Notified of Sons Missing in Action Two Ilion families received word this week of sons missing in action. Both were in France. They are S/Sgt. Harry Durkin of the infantry and Lt. James S. Anderson, Army Air Farce navigator. Sgt. Durkin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Durkin, Fourth St., and the filer's parents are Mr. and Mrs. James S. Anderson, Hoefler Ave. Durkin attended Ilion high school where he played shortstop on the baseball team and tow years ago won the golf tournament at Doty's. When he entered the service in August, 1943, he was employed at Remington Rand, Plant 1. In April of 1944 he landed in Ireland. He has two older brothers, Sgt. John Durkin; Brookley Field, Ala., and CpL. Arthur, who has just landed in England. Lt. Anderson is a graduate of Ilion high school, class of 1936, where he was active to baseball and on debate teams. At the time of his enlistment in February, 1943, he was a Remington Rand service student to Cleveland. A brother, Carl, was in the Army Air Force reserve and has been honorably discharged.
