Remington House - Agreement Is Anticipated Regarding Lease of Building or Possible Removal to Memorial Park Ilion - Investigation in regard to the possibility of establishing a municipal museum in the old Remington House is expected to terminate this week with a tentatively scheduled meeting of the village committee with A. B. Russell, native Ilionite, and an official of the national museum department. Mr. Russell, who expressed his interest in the proposed project when contacted by the village, is expected this week and efforts are being completed for a conference in regard to the matter. OFFERED BY COMPANY The historical house was offered to the village by the Remington Rand Company, on the condition that the village finance the project. One of the stipulations in the agreement offered.by the company was the right to reclaim the building in case of emergency. A public hearing was held on the matter, with the Village Board expressing approval of the proposition, but asking for the co-operation of valley historical societies before taking any definite action. Representatives of six civic organizations expressed approval of the project and the village committee was authorized to investigate further in regard to the terms of the offer. Private Individuals at the hearing expressed the opinion that this village was one of the most historical in the state and that every opportunity to establish a museum here must be considered. A suggestion that was received with much interest was that the building be moved and relocated in Memorial Park, thus assuring a permanent museum. The village board has taken no action in regard to the matter, but their chief criticism of the first agreement was the uncertainty of the future of the building in case of emergency. It is not known whether company officials will consider relocation of the house, but provision has been made by landscape artists for a site for the building. In the park In case of agreement to moving the structure. The matter is expected to be discussed at the regular meeting of the village Board on Wednesday
