Class of 60, Largest in History of Ilion High Graduation

The members of the class of 1921 attended the Baptist Church this evening and listened to the instructive baccalaureate sermon preached by the pastor, Rev. D. W. Lyman.

It was a union service and the attendance large. A special musical program in which the choir was assisted by Allen Van Weggeren, vocalist, and Funger Whitmore, violinist, were a feature of the service.

Tuesday evening commencement exercises will be held at the High School auditorium. The program for the exercises is: orchestra selection, High School orchestra; Invocation, Rev. L. R. Benson; music, Girls' Glee Club; salutatory essay, "The Challenge of Poetry," Miss Hilda Shaul: "Ancient Rome's Legacy to Modern Nations," Miss Mildred Jenne; "Beyond the Alps Italy," Miss Catherine Van Alstyne; violin solo, Walter Griswold; "Our Debt to Columbia." Mabel Peterson; "What the Ilion High School Has Meant to the Class of 1921," Doris Burghoff; valedictory essay, "An unpaid Part of Our War Debt," Miss Mary Gilchrist; "In springtime," Miss Mabel Danlein; music, Girls' Glee Club; presentation of diplomas by H. M. Schwartz, superintendent of public schools; benediction, Rev. L. Benson; orchestral national anthem, High School orchestra.

The senior ball at the High School auditorium was a pleasant affair and was attended by about 23 couples.
