Carl W. Peterson, Retired Justice Of State Supreme Court, at 79

Carl W. Peterson, a retired justice of the New York State Supreme Court, died yesterday at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, in Ilion, N.Y. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Peterson was elected District Attorney of Herkimer County in 1930, and served in that post until 1945, when he was elected county judge. He was elected Supreme Court Justice in 1952 and retired in 1966.

A World War I Navy veteran and 1921 graduate of Albany Law School, Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Carter; one son, Carl Jr.; two grandsons; and a sister, Mabel Peterson.
