Dr. L. I. Diss, Ilion Dentist, Dies at Home

Succumbs Following Four Weeks' Illness

Was Well Known in Fraternal Circles of Village.

Ilion - Dr. Louis. I. Diss, 33, prominent Ilion dentist, died this morning [January 18, 1929] at 12:30 o'clock at his home, ?? Otsego Street.

He had been ill for the past four weeks of influenza, which later developed into pneumonia.

Dr. Diss was born in Ilion Nov. 3, 1895. and attended the Ilion public schools and high school. He graduated in 1918 from the University of Pittsburgh with the degree of D. D. S. He was among the first called for service in the United States Army during the World War and served with honor in the Dental Section of the Medical Corps.

For the past 5 years he has practiced the profession in Ilion with offices at 31 Otsego Street.

On July 3, 1920, he was married to Madeline Ellis Buley of Syracuse, a sister of Mrs. Dr. F. B. Conterman, who survives him, together with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Diss of 31 North Third Avenue.

Dr. Diss was a member of Ilion Lodge 491, F. & A. M.; Khorassan Grotto, No. 2; M.O.Y.P.E.R; Knights of Birmingham; Ilion Lodge, No 1444, B.P.O. Elks and the Crim-Shaffer Post, American Legion, He was also a member of the New York State Dental Society, and was active in the social and civic life of his native town.

The funeral will be held from his late home Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. E. D. Barnes will conduct the services. Internment will be made in the Armory Hill Cemetery.
