Physician Dies in Hospital Death took Dr. Harry H. Halliwell, 67, prominent physician of Ilion where he was a life long resident, on May 11, 1947, in Faxton Hospital, Utica. He had never recovered from an operation performed several weeks ago. Tuesday's graduates welcomed Mrs. Kitty Nunn Bintz, of the Class of ’97, who came 500 miles from Marion, OH., and greeted her classmate, George Edick, of Ilion ’97. Mrs. Helen Rix, of Mohawk, of the Class of ’96, was the senior of the gathering. Dr. Haliwell had practiced medicine in Ilion for more than 45 years and for four years was school physician of Ilion schools. He was a member of the Herkimer County Medical Society, the American Association and served on the Board of Directors of Pine Crest Sanatorium. A son of Samuel and Elizabeth Harris Halliwell, he was born in Ilion on Mar. 9, 1880. He graduated from Ilion High School and received his doctor of medicine degree from New York University in 1901. After serving his internship in Bellevue Hospital in New York, he returned to Ilion. In 1911 he married Nora Dowling who died in 1924 and in 1926 he married Mable Ringwood. For many years he served as toastmaster at the annual banquet of the Ilion Volunteer Fire Department of which he was an honorary member. He attended St. Augustine's Episcopal church. Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Miss Elizabeth Halliwell, New York; and two step-sons, William Ringwood, Ilion and Thomas Ringwood, Paris, France. A prayer service will be held at 2 .p. m. Wednesday from his late home and funeral services will be at 2:30 from St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ernest Pugh, rector, officiating.
