Class Cup for Highest Scholarship

Friday evening, June 12, the class of 96 gathered at Prin. Wood's home to have a good time. During the evening Mr. Wood was very generously remembered by the class, who presented him a set of nine beautiful Colonial silver spoons.

He in return presented to the class an elegant gold lined silver cup, the gift of the enterprising jeweler, G. H. P. Stone. On the cup are the words, "Presented by G. H. P. Stone for highest scholarship to class '96." This cup is to be the property of class '96 till some future class gets a higher standing. It will probably be placed in the library, where all can see evidence of a generous recognition of merit by Mr. Stone. It is a good sign when citizens become practically interested in the work of our pupils. If any others are disposed to follow a good example let them communicate with, Prin. Wood, who is anxious to have a system of prize giving for deserving pupils.
