Death Removes Warren W. Benton
The End Came At 8:20 O'Clock This Morning
In Ill Health Two Years

Ilion. Oct 3 - Warren W. Benton died at his home on Armory street at 9:20 o'clock this morning. Death was due to chronic bronchitis. Last spring his health began to fail and upon the advice of physicians he spent the greater part of the summer at the Thousand Islands. The change, he was over, only gave him temporary relief. He returned home September 15 and since then he had been confined to his bed.

Warren W. Benton was born in Andover, Vt. in 1830 in which place his parents were early settlers. He lived there until he was 14 years of age. He then moved to Londendery, working on a farm until he was 20 years of age. He then took up the trade of a blacksmith, which vocation his father followed for many years. He worked at it until the time he was married, after which he went to Springfield, working for about ten years. He came to this village forty-three years ago. Shortly after he secured a position with E. Remington & Sons. He had charge of the hardening and tempering departments which position he held until about two years ago when he resigned. He was married to Meriam Huntley at Londendery in 1853. Mr. and Mrs. Benton observed their golden wedding anniversary April 15, 1903.

The deceased was a charter member of E. S. Walker Council No. 135 Royal Arcanum Utica Commandery, Knights Templar and Ilion Lodge, No. 591, F.&A.M. He was in the official board of the Methodist Church. He was also president of the School Board at one time.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. I. T. Onyans.
