All-l-l-A-bawd for Richfield Springs

Ilion - All dressed up and rarin' to go on a tally ho ride is this graduating class of 1887, Ilion High School. And a-riding they did go - all the way to Richfield Springs and back. It was a good old Ilion custom back in the gay '80's.

Seated on the right side of the driver's seat is Harry Jennings, so short his feet did not reach the floor. Then they have become so firmly planted on political ground he is now mayor of Mohawk. Standing at the left is Miles Adles Van Gummter, well known Ilion music teacher.

Others in the class were: Alice Grimes White, Ilion: Laura A. Brown, Lizzie Tanner Couch, Margaret Tourbert DeRosa, William Giblin, Susie Jewell, Anna F. Joerrasen, Cora Capron Parsons, Alfred Brooks Steele, Kate Uhit Stretch, Olive Devendorf, Robert Dean Winegar and Rolia S. Zimmerman.

The 50th anniversary of the class will be observed at the annual meeting of of Ilion High School Alumni Association on June 13,

It will also mark the 25th anniversary of the class of 1911 and the latter group will play host to the other class. Besides a banquet there will be a dance and other entertainment. Former superintendents, principals and teachers will attend.

The photograph was taken in front of the old Morgan street School, since torn down and replaced by the Municipal Building. The man in the lower left hand corner is Professor While, principal.
