Frederic Percival Tuthill - IHS 1884 - Pharmacist
The earliest pharmacist alumnus, that has been identified, was Frederic Percival Tuthill Class of 1984. Frederic was born in Ilion, NY on July 28, 1867. He was the son of James H. and Florence (Mentz) Tuthill. He graduated from Ilion High School in 1884. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from NY State University and he graduated from NY College of Pharmacy, PH.G. in 1888. He married Irene Brown on May 18, 1893, in Brooklyn, NY. Their children were: James, Brown, born 1895 and Kathryn Josephine, born 1889. Professor Tuthill was a representative of Parke, Davis & Co. and an instructor of pharmacy and mathematics at the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. He was a member of NY State Board of Pharmacy, Department of Toxicology and Posology. He was a registered Republican and a member of the Episcopalian Church. He was a member NY State Pharmaceutical Association, J.J. State Pharmaceutical Association, Kings Count Pharmaceutical Society, American Pharmaceutical Association, NY College of Pharmacy Member, Alumni Association Ilion High School, Alumni Association NY College of Pharmacy and Alumni Association Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. Frederic Tuthill died at the age of 55 on July 2, 1922. He had been sick for several months. He died at his summer home on Covernors Island Stony Creek, Connecticut. His funeral service was held at St. Bartholomew Church in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn College of Pharmacy faculty and trustees attended his funeral.
