Reverend James A. Nolan, son of Martin T. Nolan and Margaret McGrath, was born in New York, December 31, 1892. Father Nolan was a graduate of Cathedral Academy, Albany and Catholic University of Washington, and was ordained to the priesthood, on December 22, 1915. He served in Troy, Broadalbin, New Lebanon, and in Newport. From 1936 to 1944, he served as pastor of Annunciation Church. From then until his death, May 12, 1955, be was pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Troy. Shortly before his death, Pope Pius XII made Father Nolan a Domestic Prelate, but he did not live long, after having received this honor.
