Ilion Physician Succombs to Illness

Dr. Erwin William Hollandt, 35, 17 Third St, died Wednesday evening, October 11, at 9:30 in the Ilion hospital.
Doctor Hollandt was born in Ilion, a son of Mrs. Bertha Hollandt and the late Augustus Hollandt. He was a graduate of Ilion High school, Hamilton College, and the Rochester School of Medicine. He interned at the Jersey City Medical Center and was resident physician for one year and resident doctor of surgery for another year there.
He established his practice in Ilion eight and a half years ago with offices at 126 West Street. Doctor Holland had been school physician for two years but had to decline the appointment this year because of ill health.
He was a member of the Ilion hospital staff and of the Herkimer County Medical Society. He also was a member of Ilion Lodge 391, F. & A. M. and attended St. Augustine's Episcopal Church.
Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, the former Marion Vail, of Elizabeth, N.J., whom he married on July 9, 1937. They have two children, Robert and Barbara.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. L. R. Benson officiating. Burial will be at Armory Hill cemetery.
