Daytime Math Classes But Part Of Miss Henry's Activities ILION - A teacher can never tell where her influence stops someone once said. Miss Jean Henry, of 54 Fourth St., Junior High math and freshman math and algebra teacher at Ilion High School, will no doubt be remembered for years to come by her pupils. They will remember the friendly, informal relaxed classroom and her companionship for each pupil. Also, but not least, her mobile alive face and eyes that reflect excitement and interest in everything that goes on. Born in Copenhagen, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brayton Henry, she was educated there and received her BA degree from Albany State Teachers College and later her master's degree at St. Lawrence University. She first taught at Colton-Pierrepont Central School, joining the Ilion system in 1949. Her teaching does not end at the close of school. She is coach for Jayvee cheerleaders and assists other class cheerleader activities and tryouts, also chaperons at school games. Two nights a week she instructs ceramics under the Adult Education Program. She is interested in ceramics, she says "sometimes I lose myself to the project." Many Saturday mornings she is also at the school working on some new dish or knick-knack. Other hobbies are gardening and she helps her mother care for some 50 varieties of roses at her mother's home during the summer. Photography is another one. She has a 35 millimeter camera and ventures on field trips with the Ilion Camera Club of which she is a member.
