Ilion High Music Groups Plan Christmas Concert

ILION - Dicken's Christmas Carol will be adapted for the annual Christmas Concert to be presented by the Ilion High School Music Department at 8 p. m. Dec. 18.

Groups participating will be the orchestra, under direction of Robert O. Weiler, the Phoenix Girl's Choir, Eleven Bells and the Orpheus Choir, directed by Arthur Dauten.

The program will be as follows:

"On this Good Christmas Morn," by Cain; "Rockin' All Night," a spiritual, arranged by Wilson; "Christmas Morn Is Dawning," arranged by Luvaas; and "White Christmas," arranged by Warnick.

The Phoenix Choir will offer "Daughter of Zion," by Handel; "Greensleeves Fantasy," arranged by Gordon; "Angels We Have Heard on High," a French carol; "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," by Mendelssohn; "O Come All Ye Faithful," by Reading; "Silent Night," by Gruber.

The orchestra will then offer three arrangements, "Winter Wonderland," by Trinkaus; "The Little Bells of Christmas," by Christie; and "Let It Snow," by Sickles.

The Eleven Belles will offer, "Christmas Festival," arranged by DeLamater; "Hail Star of Heaven," by Grieg and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," by Coots.

To Follow Intermission

Following intermission, "A Christmas Carol,” will cast Stanley Thonmpson as Scrooge; Vincent Mack, Fred; Donald Alexander, Bob Cratchit; James Sorrenson, first gentleman; Wayne Monteau, second genleman; George Sitts, Marley.

Also James Barnes, Louis Spencer and Thomas Treshohlavy as the Spirit of Christmas Past, Present and to Come; Paul Maxfield, a boy; Donald Desmond, Tiny Tim.

Musical Interludes by the Phoenix Choir will feature "Deck the Hall," arranged by Black, and "Holly and The Ivy," arranged by Stone.

Also "A Babe Is Born in Bethlehem," arranged by Manney; "O Holy Night," by Adam, "O Santissima," arranged by Gardner.

Soloists for portions of the program will be Donna Maria Coriale and Jeannette Currier; accompanist, Lee Purple; directors, Weiler and Dauten.

The concert is open to the public and some of the choral groups will be heard Sunday afternoon over the Herkimer radio station and the Orpheus choir will appear at 7 p. m. Wednesday over WKTV.
