Groups Discuss Skating Rink

ILION - Tentative plans for maintenance of a skating rink on Hunt's Field, Elm St., were discussed last night by a committee of volunteer firemen and three members of the Board of Education.

The cost of maintenance is $1,000, half to be paid by the school funds and the other half school funds and the other half from the State Recreation Commission.

The plans to have a rink on Hunt's Field is due to unavailability of space at the former rink located in the rear of Ilion High School where the current building expansion program is underway.

On recommendation of School Superintendent George Purple, the group was advised to consider the water supply at the north side of the high school so a semipermanent rink can be built in the future.
