Fern Chismore Tops '46 Class

Ilion - Miss Fern Chismore who earned an average of 92.15 per cent for three and one-half years of high school work, has been awarded valedictory honors of the 1946 Ilion High School Graduating Class, it was announced here today by J. Guy Prindle, high school principal.

Salutatory honors went to Milton Haughton, with an average of 91.97 per cent. The class which totals only 79, is one of the smallest in many years. The only lower total since 1920, was the class of 1929 which had 70.

Other honor students are: Louise Pelton, 90.89; Shirley Geesler, 90.74; Richard Heaps, 90.47; Lawrence Meuse 90.25.

Patricia Wright, 89.58; Jane Daz, 89.38; Louise Mogensen, 89.24 and Shirley [Marion] Pett, 88.28.

The honors were announced to the student body at a special assembly called yesterday afternoon.

* Note - The newspaper article listed Pett's first name as Shirley but it was really Marion per the 1946 Yearbook.
