Salom Rizk to Address Ilion Grads Tues. Night Salmon Rizk, Syrian Yankee, will address the Ilion High School graduating class of 109 members, Tuesday night at the commencement ceremonies in the Capital Theater, Earl P. Watkin, superintendent of schools has announced. The topic will be the "The American Way." Rizk was born in Syria, the son of naturalized parents and never knew he was a citizen of the United States until told by a school teacher when he was 13 years old. He was no more thatn 17 when he came to this country. His first talk was to his class school at the request of the ... This made such an impression that he was asked to speak to other grades. That was the beginning of his career as a lecturer. Since then he has been speaking in colleges, schools and various organizations in nearly every state in the union. Ackely, Superintendent said, "A thrilling story and told in a dramatic manner. No one can hear Salom Rizk without having a deeper appreciation of America." The valedictory address, "Education for Peace" will be given by Frank E. Soules and the salutatory, "Education for War" by Richard VanWiggeren. The presentation of diplomas will be made by Grover W. Radley, president of the Board of Education, and presentation of awards by Earl P. Watkin, superintendent. The High School Band, directed F. Fay Swift will play, "March of the Peers" by Sir Arthur Sullivan and "Sir Galahad Overture" by Hildreth. The Varsity Choir will sing "Dark Waters" by Will James.
