Paul L. Momberger ILlON - Paul E. Momberger, 54, of Bowie, Md. formerly of Crescent St., Ilion, passed away today as a result of lung cancer. He was born September 23, 1924 in Ilion, the son of William and Ella Dyme Bennett Momberger. He attended Ilion schools, attended R.I.T., and graduated with honors from Clarkson College, with a degree in electrical engineering. He married Shirley Burns, June 21, 1947 in Ilion. He was a WW II Naval veteran He was employed as an electrical engineer by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Goddard Space Flight Center, Maryland. There he worked on the Voyager I, Space Program. Mr. Momberger's name is on the plaque aboard Voyager I. He was a member of St. AUgustine's Episcopal Church, Ilion Lodge, 591, F & AM, the I.E.E.E. Licensed Professional Engineers. He was a member of the Philadelphia, Pa., Norfolk. Conn, and the Potomac Curling Clubs. He was a member of Tau Beta Chi, Beta Cappa Fraternities and a member of the Cedar Lake Club and had been a summer resident of Cedar Lake since he was a young boy. He is survived by his wife; three sons, William of Rochester, Robert of Gainesville, Fla, and Thomas of Utica; two brothers, Alan of Fullerton, Calif and Jon of Orlando, Fla. (Another brother, William was killed during WW II.) he is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Donald (Ella Dyme) Hammond of Ilion; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 am Wednesday at St Augustine's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. George B. Green officiating, with spring interment in Mohawk Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday from the Whiter Hendrix Funeral Home. Friends are asked to consider donations to the Ilion Free Public Library.
