50 Ilion Youths to Leave for Colleges

Ilion - Nearly 60 Ilion boys and girls, a majority of whom are graduated from Ilion High School in June, wll leave in the next two weeks to enter universities and colleges.

The students have selected a wide variety of professions and colleges, as some will travel nearly 3,000 miles to enter school and others will attend nearby institutions. Five 1939 high school graduates will study music and dramatics at Ithaca College, while others are entering fields in social work, embalming , nursing and business. More than 40 members of the 1939 graduating class of 139 students at Ilion High School will enter colleges this month.

Included in students entering institutions of higher learning are the following: Betty Prosser, Albany Business College; Donald Watkin, Hamilton College; Lloyd Day, Colgate University; Frances Doig, Cobleskill.

Alonzo Feldbrugge, Elmira Business College; Richard Frank, Swarthmore College; Eugene Hall, Coast Guard Academy; Georgiana Hoyt, Ithaca College; Dorothy Huyck, Albany Business College; Fred Limpert, Washington State.

Austin Smith, Cornell University; Nina Bailey, Ithaca College; Phyliss Hendrick, Ithaca College; Douglas Baxter, Syracuse University; June Browning, Utica School of Commerce; Clark Dagenkolb, Cornell University; Henry Marks, Rider College; Howard Heintz Albany Business College.

Herbert Thompson, Syracuse University; Alethea Gasey, Syracuse University; Robert Chambers, Syracuse University; Hal Sterling, College of Embalming, Cincinnati; Hershel Singer, Northwestern University, Stanley Jones, Northwestern University.

The following students plan to enter training as nurses: Marjorie Fay, Esther Beebe, Rosemary Connors, Velma Ferris, Florence Shaw.
