Awards Medals for H. S. Students

Presentation of awards and the issuing of the "Mirror", annual year book, featured the pre-graduation activities at Ilion High School last week.

About 45 students were given cash prizes, medals, and other awards.

Principal John G. Prlndle accepted for the school four plaques from the New York Band and Orchestra Association and won by three school choirs and the orchestra at tag music festival at Elmira.

At a special assembly, Mr. Prindle and Earl P. Watkin, superintendent of schools, made their last formal addresses to the seniors.

The plaques presented to the school by Robert Fay, student president, and Steber Kerr, were honors won by the A. Cappella Choir, boys' choir, girls' choir and orchestra. Solo championship medals were presented to William Wood, oboe; Fred Wilson and William Matthews, saxophonists; Steber Kerr, flute and piccolo; Georgiana; Hoyt, pianist.

These students received letter award certificates.

Golf, D. Baxter, E. Allen, J. Powers and J. Pickett; track, Fred Wilson, Carl Hansen, George Allen, Les Noffer, Fred Hartman, Hershele Singer, James Butterworth and Jack Roberts; golf, John Powers, Edmund Allen, Joseph Pickett, Charles Bishton, Douglass Baxter.

Baseball, Arlie Cole, Albert Urtz, Durland Spencer, Gerald O'Connell, Harold Hitchcock, Francis Murray, Douglass Baxter, Edward Hamilton, Everett Williams and Francis Christopher.

Bowling, Robert Morris, Louis Merritt, Alfred Klescisz, Douglass Baxter, Lloyd Day, Edward Hamilton, Verhon Cool, Robert Hynes.

The year book, containing 52 pages and illustrated, was dedicated to Anna C. Davis, science teacher for the past 30 years.

Robert Fay and Miss Gertrude Tjeerdsma, members of the high school graduating class, were named Thursday, as the boy and girl who best represent fine sportsmanship in the school this term.
