Thomson Receives Appointment William T. Thomson, supervising principal cf the Verona high school the past year, was appointed Superintendent of Schools of the newly created Vernon - Verona - Sherrill Central District at a meeting of the district Board Friday night in the Verona High School building. Mr. Thomson will also temporarily remain the post of building principal for the Verona school. The Board also voted to retain Miss Barbara Bentley, Verona, as secretary to the Superintendent. She has been serving as the Principal's secretary. Under the centralization plan. Mr. Thomson will maintain the central school office in Verona until the proposed new central school is erected. Mr. Thomson, the new superintendent, came to the Verona High School as supervising principal, August 1, 1949. Previously he had been a member of the faculty of the Waterville central school for 12 years. At Waterville, Mr. Thomson was dean of boys and school administrator. He is a graduate of Ilion High School, class of 1931, a graduate of Colgate University, where he received his B. A. degree, and of Syracuse University where he was awarded his M. A. degree in secondary school administration. At Colgate he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau, national fraternity and Mu Pi Delta, honorary music fraternity. Mr. Thomson is also a member of Sanger Lodge, F & AM of Waterville. He is married and the father of two daughters, Susan and Sally. Mrs. Thomson is a graduate of Russell Sage College and is a registered nurse. Thomson is the son of Prof. and Mrs. William Thomson, 2 River Drive, Ilion.
