Class Will Reflect Credit On School High Order of Talent Shown at Commencement Exercises Ilion, June 23 - Commencement exercises of the 1923 graduating class of the Ilion High School was held at the school auditorium last evening and a great many were in attendance and were greatly interested in the program that was so excellently carried out. This exercise program with a selection by the high school orchestra and then prayer was offered by the Rev. E. D. Barses. Clara L. Wasmer's address on "The Challenge in America," Fatanitza Schmidt's address on "Student Government in the High School," Burrill Getman on "Labor," Helen Raushcher on "The Dynamic Force of Ideals" Thelma Reed on "Heroism of the Commonplace," Almira Gilchrist on "The Value of Higher Education" were of a high order and all made a deep impression. The diplomas were presented by H. M. Schwarts, superintendent of the schools. There were 43 students in the class and 24 of this number won honors. Miss Almira Gilchrist won the highest honor to a graduate - the privilege of delivering the valedictory. The second honor was won by Miss Wasmer as salutatorian. Of the 43 students, 10 graduated from the general course, 13 from the classical and 13 from the commercial course and five from the scientific course. Schmakile. Scientific Course - Walter B. Brandt, Frederick C. Fay, Charles Llewellyn Jones, James Stephen Kittams, William A. Mulvey. The honor pupils of this year's graduating class are Burrill M. Getman and Paul Eugene Rhodes of the general course, Almira Gilchrist, Helen Marie Paddock, Helen E. Rauschar, Leliah Blodwen Roberts, Fatanitza Louise Schmidt and Clara L. Wasmer of the classic course, Hazel M. Caddell, and of the commercial course, Thelma Reed. The officers of the class are J. Donald Stitt, president; Helen Paddock, vice-president; Burrill Getman - treasurer.
