State announces Eligible List for State Scholarships

The State Education Department has issued the list of high school pupils who became entitled to the college entrance diploma during the last school year and who are consequently eligible to receive a university scholarship amounting to $100 a year for four years at any registered college in the state. Herkimer county will be entitle to five of these scholarships. The following is the list of names from which the appointments will be made for this county:

Fernabelle C. Brandow, Herkimer, 92.41; Fatanitia L. Schmidt, Ilion, 92.15; Almira Gilchrist, Ilion 90.66, Irene E. Welke, Herkimer, 90.34, Max A. Kapp, Herkimer 88.56, Clara L. Wasmer, Ilion 88.13; B. Leila Roberts, Ilion 85.63, Helen E. Rauscher, Ilion 84.55; Mary Helen E. Rauscher, Ilion, 84.55; Mary Y. Lansing, Little Falls, 84.47; Helen M. Paddock, Ilion , 83.00; Phyllis S. Miner, Ilion 83.24, Burril M. Getman, Ilion, 82.67 ....

In case any of these to whom the scholarship is offered in the first instance should decline, the scholarship is immediately offered to the next eligible candidate on the list.

Thirty days' time is allowed for each one to accept or decline the scholarship when awarded and ten days' time to any person who is offered a scholarship to fill a vacancy. therefore the awards will not all be made until within 40 days of the first announcement.
