Miss Gilchrist Wins Scholarship

Twenty Young People Graduate from General Course, 12 From Classical and 11 from Commercial

Miss Almira Gilchrist, daughter of Attorney James Gilchrist, has been awarded a Cornell competition scholarship which examination was held in Herkimer, June 8.

Miss Almira Gilchrist who is 17 years old, will accompany her sister to Cornell in the fall and will also follow an arts course. The scholarship covers tuition at Cornell University for a period of four years and had a value of $1,640.

Miss Gilchrist is a graduate of this year's class of the Ilion High School and was awarded valedictory honor.

A year ago, her sister, Miss Mary Gilchrist, captured similar honors and was also valedictorian of her class. She is at present a student at Cornell University, pursuing an arts degree.
