Ilion High Produces 10 Honor Students out of 48

Twenty Young People Graduate from General Course, 12 From Classical and 11 from Commercial

Ilion June 27 - Out of a class of 48 members of the Ilion High School, 10 students managed to win honors. Miss Elmira Gilchrist meriting the highest honor to a graduate - the privilege of addressing the valedictory.

The second honor was won by Miss Wasmer. She was salutatorian. Of the 48 students, 20 graduated from the general course, 12 from the classical and 11 from the commercial course and five from the scientific course.

The commencement exercises held last evening included selections by the high school orchestra, invocation and benediction by Rev. E. D. Daeneu?. Miss Wasmer's address on "The Challenge to America," Fatanitza Schmidt's address on "Student Government in the High School," Burrell Getman on "Labor," Helen Rauscher on "The Dynamic force of ...," Thelma Reed on "Heroism of the Community," Almira Gilchrist on "The Value of Higher Education." The diplomas were presented by H. M. Schwartz, superintendent.

The honor pupils of the year's graduating class are Burrell M. Getman and Paul Eugene Rhodes of the general course. Almira Gilchrist, Helen Marie Paddock, Helen D. Rauscher, Lelia Blossum Roberts, Francine Louise Schmidt and Clara L. Wasmer of the classic courses. Hazel M Caddell, and of the commercial courses, Thelma Reed.

The officers of the class are: J. Donald Stitt, president, Helen Paddock, secretary and Burrell Getman, treasurer.
