Class Honors of 1899

honors of commencement should be bestowed. Accordingly, soon after the March examinations, the class of '99 was assembled when Prof. Wood announced the two highest honors, decided by the faculty according to scholarship of the students. The very successful young ladies were Miss May Couchman, valedictorian and Miss Emma Chismore, salutatorian. Shortly after, the remaining honors were selected by the class, awarded according to the natural ability of those chosen. Bertha irons was made historian; Myra Trowbridge, prophet and Carrie Tefft, poet.

The June arrangement of the class day will be somewhat different from that of last year. Commencement will be observed June 20th, as customary, and on the following night will occur the class day festivities. During the evening a banquet will be served, and afterward several toasts will be responded to, Miss Flora Avery being toastmistress. The students anticipate much enjoyment from the prophecy, poem and history, all to be given at this time. Since it seems more appropriate to have the occasion strictly private, only the immediate relatives are to receive invitations. The idea of a class day suggests a social and festive event, which may linger happily in the minds of the classmates and friends in after years.
