Two 1897 Class Members Feted

Schooldays slipped back half-a-century for the happy crowd that sang old songs and chose officers of the 66th annual banquet and reunion of the Ilion High School alumni Association last night in the Turf restaurant.

Tuesday's graduates welcomed Mrs. Kitty Nunn Bintz, of the Class of '97, who came 500 miles from Marion, OH., and greeted her classmate, George Edick, of Ilion '97. Mrs. Helen Rix, of Mohawk, of the Class of '96, was the senior of the gathering.

Donald Stitt, '22, of Mohawk was toastmaster; Ralph Curtis, committee chairman and president called the roll of classes.

The speaker, Thomas A. Morris, '32 attorney, World War II veteran, told of experiences in Africa and Italy and emphasized the value of close community life for education after leaving school.

The girls' sextet of '47 sang, with Marion Baker at the piano. Group singing was led by Ruth Irwin. Mrs. Esther Davis gave a humorous monologue on an IQ test. Rudolph Backman was pianist for the community singing. Miss Gladys Cone, secretary, read minutes of last year's reunion.

Members of many classes spoke, as well as Earl P. Watkin, school superintendent, J. Guy Prindle, Ilion School principal, and Burrill Getman, '22.

Names of departed members were read and at the close of the reunion the following officers were chosen unanimously: Frank Wilson, president, Jean Mosher, firs vice-president; Howard Hendrix, second vice-president; Gladys Cone, secretary; Frank Young, treasurer; Mrs. Nettie Gannt, historian.
