Ilion Suicide

Miss Flora Hathaway, who lived with her sister, Mrs. Frank Hamm, committed suicide, Monday, the 24th, by taking carbolic acid. Mrs. Hamm was absent at the time, and upon her return about 6 p. m., found her sister in great agony and unconscious. Dr. Draper was summoned but the ease was beyond medical skill and death resulted an hour later. Deceased was about, 24 years of age and of good reputation. The coroner's Jury rendered this verdict: "That deceased came to her death by taking carbolic acid, with the intention of taking her life, caused by brooding over imaginary troubles." Miss Hathaway seemed to feel that she was not well treated by her relatives. She was 24 years of age and a graduate of the Ilion high school.
