Dr. Erin Sweeney, is the daughter of Aileen Carney Sweeney IHS 1974 and Richard Sweeney. Erin grew up with her siblings, Mary, Bridget and Sean Sweeney, on Old Forge Road, Ilion. Erin was Salutatorian of her 2008 Class at Ilion High School. She attended the State University College of Environment Sciences and Forestry (ESF) in Syracuse and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology. Erin graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2016.

When Erin graduated from dental school, fellow dentist and sister, Bridget Sweeney, presented Erin with her Commencement Doctoral hood during the UB graduation ceremony. Erin is the granddaughter of Dr. Theodore Carney IHS 1936.
