Honor Purple at Ilion High ILION - George H. Purple, former superintendent of Ilion schools for ten years, was presented a portrait of himself at the Ilion High School awards assembly Tuesday in the gym. The senior annual, "The Mirror," was dedicated to Purple and Mrs. Flora Bean, who is retiring after 35 years of teaching. Hashim Mekkawi, foreign exchange student from Saudi Arabia, was presented a projector from the students. Awards were presented the following seniors;
Leo Golicki Sports Award, Charles "Bootsie" Day;
Lewis Wrestling Trophy, Terence Braren;
Daniel McGrellis was selected by the senior class for the Frank Lyons Friendship Award. Miss Kathy Hoffman was mistress of ceremonies.
