Winners of Elks Grants Are Cited

ILION - Bridget Carney, 12 Crescent St., and Kathleen Hoffman, 137 Second St., students at Ilion High School last night received Scholarship Award certificates as local winners of the state-wide competition sponsored by the New York State Elks Association.

The awards, each $500, were among 30 ... $15,000 donated by the ... throughout the state.

Atty. John W. Bergin Scholarship chairman of the lodge, and Richard Daily exalted ruler, officiated as the certificates were awarded at the lodge. The winners were announced recently at the Elks Convention at Concord Hotel, Kiamesha Lake.

Miss Carney, daughter Dr. and Mrs. Theodore Carney will use her award at Vassar Colege, Poughkeepsie, and Kathleen Hoffman will attend the University of Buffalo, both ...liberal arts.
