Ilion High Informative - By Suzanne Backman

Tonight, the "Gay Nineties" will again be with us with the presentation of the "Gay Nineties" Carnival in Ilion High. Sponsored by the Ilion Teachers Association for the Watkin Scholar ship Fund, this affair will begin at 6 p.m. with the opening of the midway. This will be in the boys' gym and will feature many booths for the more ambitious spectators.

Beginning at 8 p.m. will be an International Revue featuring Spanish, Russian, Italian and Japanese skits along with a fashion show.

The "Gay Nineties Nightclub" is to be held in the cafeteria. A 20-minute show will go on every half hour. Also scheduled are vocal groups, a dance team, a combo and other specials. Refreshments may be purchased.

A general fee will be charged for admission, 50 cents adults, 25 cents students, with small fees for each room. Tickets will be sold at the door.

IHS Student Council met on Wednesday night. Final arrangements for the Candy Sale of April 3 were made. Also, class games were discussed, will be held on April 2. A dance will be held in the gym after the games.

Yesterday, March 26, an assembly was presented by the Ilion High music department. Included in the program was the concert band, Orpheus Choir, Belles, and the Boys' Quartet. The band, under the direction of Richard Ingraham, offered two numbers. The Belles sang "My Favorite Things" from the "Sound of Music"; "This Nearly Was Mine," and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair" from "South Pacific." Boys' Quartet offered four numbers, including "Deed I Do" and "Ain't She Sweet."

Under the direction of Mrs. Jasmine Poplaski, Orpheus presented "Exodus Song," "Russian Picnic," "Open Our Eyes," and an Italian number "Fauna Canzona."

After the assembly, the Junior and Senior classes held class meetings to select cheerleaders and basketball players for class games.
