It was announced Monday that William Cornell will receive the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award Medal when he graduates in June. This medal is awarded in 8,500 high schools in the United States and Canada to the senior who has achieved the best record in three and a half years of science. As an award winner, Bill is now eligible to compete for both the Bausch and Lomb Science Scholarships and the University of Rochester Scholarship. These grants must be used at the University of Rochester. Only the recipients of the Honorary Science Award can compete for these grants.

The Student Council District 7 Conference was held at Canastota Central School. Danny McGrellis, Betsy Morris, Joan Withington, Sue Getman, Hashim Mekkawi, and William Teeter represented Ilion High School. Following dinner, an assembly was held where the District 7 offices and the foreign exchange students were introduced. An address, "The History of District 7 and the Future," was given by Mrs. Helen Potter.

Senior National Honor Society is planning the annual book fair which will be held Nov. 19-21. Final plans are now underway, directed by Kathy Hoffman, chairman of the fair.

The All - State Sectional Music Festival will be held in Herkimer High School November 20-21, according to Richard Ingraham. Participants from Ilion will be Bill Miles, clarinet; Larry Hollar, horn; Bob Bluett: bassoon and Russ Wagner, tuba.

New members of Belles, a girls' ensemble under the direction of Mrs. Jasmine Poplaski, were chosen last week. They are: Sue Backman, Pat Trevor, Laury Cacciatore, Linda Fischer, Mary Carney, Sharon Chambers, Donna Compeau, Judy Gray, Pat Allen, Carla Braun, Marsha Davidson and Barbara Pestar. Pat Snyder is the accompanist.

The junior class magazine sale closed Monday. The class, according to class advisor, Mr. Panarites, will keep approximately 40 per cent of the profit.

At Norwich last Saturday, our Cross Country team finished in second place out of four teams. Jack Sweeney took first with 2:32. Paul Dodge also of Ilion was second with a time of 12:36.

Tuesday, the team downed Herkimer, at Herkimer. 21-37. Jack Sweeney took first again, breaking his brother Terry's record of 12:00 with an 11:55 time. Paul Dodge with 12:03 was second.

Thursday our Junior Varsity football team was host to Proctor for a game which ended 0-0.

Today the Bombers entertained the Norwich Tornadoes.
