Mary T. Carney was a graduate of the Ilion High School Class of 1913

She was a teacher in the Schenectady School District.

Miss Carney Dies; Taught For 44 Years

A mass of Christian Burial for Mary T. Carney of 1373 Clifton Park Road, Niskayuna, will be celebrated at 7:30 tonight at Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Miss Carney died Saturday at Hallmark Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born in Ilion, she taught music and social studies at Washington Irving Scool for 44 years, retiring in 1960. Miss Carney also was a retired organist from Our Lady of Fatima, St. Luke's and St. Columba's churches. She was a comunicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the New York State Retired Tachers Association.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Mary Carney Memorial Hand Bell Choir, care of Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2216 Rosa Road. There will be no calling hours. Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Schenectady Gazette - Jan 22, 1979
