The Bomber Bear

Bomber Bear mascot

The Ilion Central School mascot, "The Bomber Bear" is a recent addition to the school's history. The Bomber Bear first appeared in 1979 at the Homecoming game. It was made by Sandy Morton, '75 and her Mom (Ceil Morton). She was home for a visit, her sister Shari, '80 was a senior, and Stacey was a Cheerleader. They decided that the Homecoming event needed a spark, and ...Bomber Bear was born.

Although she graduated five years before, Sandy was the first person to cheer dressed as the bear.
