Dr. Earl P. Watkin, Superintendent of Ilion Schools, died February 17, 1954. For over thirty years he was the leader of the never-ending project of building a school. During these years, he was instrumental in bringing about many teaching advancements, additions and improvements to the schools of Ilion. Thus he built a physical plant.

But he was also a spiritual builder, for he set a pattern of scholarship and high educational standards for the students. He was a friend to both teachers and students who will always remember his appropriate little poems.
