There's an old saying---"The early bird catches the worm." Many of this year's Senior class have formed definite plans for next year, while others have not. The "Golden Quill" has made an attempt to put something over on Gallup and have a poll of its own.
Marion Bradley has received a $100 scholarship at Keuka College. If she goes, she will take a doctor's course.
As far a Ginny Gorton and Carol Baxter know, they are both going to C.C.B.I., in Syracuse.
Margie Day is going to be a "Katie Gibbs" girl at Boston. By the way, M. I. T. is just across the river. Convenient, isn't it?
Betty Alexander and Frances Benson will depend on the song, "Heaven will protect the working girl."
Ruth Kent has finally decided to make music her career. She is going to Syracuse.
Alma Kinney is going to work for a year and then take up nursing.
Beverly Wood, Dorcas Satterlee, and Jane Betzinger are going to Albany Business College.
Doris Hartleb is going in training (and not in the Army either) to be a nurse.
Margaret Drumm and Betty Lou Sprague are going to join the ranks in the Utica Business School.
Eloise Ford would like to go away and so would Merriel Thayer but Chemistry is rather difficult.
It used to be that this world was made up of all kinds, but the guys in the Senior Class are having some changes made. In fact it is going so far that you are not all there, so to speak, unless you join the "mob" in their taking over of the Arms. More than half of this year's graduating youths are planning to go into the Arms this summer. Maybe it's just that they think the Arms can't get along without them or maybe this year's class is really ambitious. Among the well known personages in this influx are Leo Murphy, Earl Sickler, Lynn Coyle, Bob Smith, Don Garlock, Ed Plunkett, Corbina Urtz, Bob Nason, Joe Salvaggio, and Bud Losier. What a crew!
There is still the "up-north" boys who this year include Zorro Lever, who is going to wash dishes, Norm Hess with his bellhop job, Bill Handsbury as councellor at Y Camp, and the inseparables, Jake and Mick, up at Lake George, caddying.
Around town will be the few fortunates or unfortunates (however you look at it) with jobs such as: Bob Reynolds, Chuck Fake, Johnny Mullen, Bill Morgan, Ward Cole, Allen Russell, and Joe Rudd.
Then down at the bottom are the bums who are planning to do nothing like Playboy Salsburg and Slugger Fallon.
Oh! We can't forget Farmer Wheelock who's got a long summer of milking cows ahead of him.
Our roving reporters were unable to get some Seniors to commit themselves as to their future plans, so just keep your eyes and ears open and see for yourself what they do.
